Spoiled by my Ex’s Uncle 7

LEILA MILLER

I have never been much of a drinker before, always keeping it moderate no matter where I am and no matter what situation I found myself in. Back at my old pack, I do not drink no matter what. When I came here, I started because I accompany Matt to all sorts of events, but even then I always try to keep it down because I know how he is, he always ends up wasted.

So I took it upon me to drink less so I can take us home safely and so I can make sure he does not not end up doing something which I know he would regret the next day. So, I did grow my alcohol tolerance level only slightly. However, in that, I found myself downing three shots straight, I knew I was in for a long, and quite possibly, wild night.

Gracie did not say a thing about it, she simply allowed me as she took hers as well. The. After a while, when I had come to a stop, her own voice came as well. “Alright,” Gracie said, lenaing back against the bar and giving me her full, undivided attention. “Spill, baby girl. What is going on with you and Matt? What did he do to bring you down like this other than his usual asshole character? Or is there someone else that bullied you?”

I bit my lip, unsure of where to start without making myself look like the fool I am. The , I swallowed down a lump and released a breath. I shook my head in response to her first question. “No. It is just Matt,” though I am not quite sure I can leave it as just him. But still, I finally broke the news to her, my voice barely audible over the loud music as my eyes gleamed with tears again.

Almost immediately, a scoff came from her as she clicked her tongue, “Damn right it is always that asshole” she hissed, then lifted a hand as if to make a point. “He is the one problem in your life I tell you.” She hissed once again, her eyes narrowing at the mere mention of him, “what did he do this time around? Just how badly did he screw up?”

I held her gaze, fearing for a split second what she would think of me if I tell her what truly happened. But this is Gracie, the exact reason I chose to confide in her is because I know she would not judge me no matter what, and hence I decided to just rip off the band aid.

“I overheard him talking on the phone last night.”

“And?” She asked encouragingly.

I swallowed down another lump, my eyes stinging with unshed tears. “And he has been lying to me all these years, Gracie,” I whispered, hating how fragile my voice sounded but unable to help it. “He was just using me. All this while he kept making me donate my blood but it was all for her.”

“Her?” She repeated with drawn in brows and a deep frown. “Who the hell is her?”

“Faye.” I said, the name leaving a bitter taste in my mouth. “That woman he is working with, his coworker. He has been giving my blood to her, Gracie. For two years! She is sick, and apparently, my blood is the only thing that can save her, or I guess I am the only one dumb enough for them to take blood from.”

“Wait, wait, wait! Hold up!” She sat up, her spine straightening. “So you mean to tell me that he has been giving your blood away all this while? To that bitch Faye?!” She always said there was something odd about me giving blood as she has never heard of it before done to any rogue, but since Matt is the Beta, she did not want to challenge his words. Perhaps, he knew what she does not. Not yo mention, I am sure she knew I would have defended him anyways, so she never said a thing.

She then showed, her eyes swirling with anger as she gritted her teeth, “And Faye that bitch. I never liked her at work. The two are always together I knew there has to be something ongoing. I just never knew it was something like this. That he is cheating on you with that fake bimbo.”

Gracie’s words would have been comforting if I was not in the midst of hating myself as a whole.

“He has been lying to me all this while Gracie,” I whispered my voice sounding hoarse to my own ears. “He has taken me as nothing but a fool, and a tool as well. A means for him to get blood for her and nothing else. He said it himself.”

“That fucking piece of shit,” she cursed under her breath. “He does not even deserve to breathe the same air as you.”

I shrugged, “I do not know what to do now,” I said earnestly. “I just wasted two years of my life on him.”

“No no no you did not,” she shook her head, her hands reaching out to rest on my shoulders as she forced me to look at her and meet her gaze. “You learned from your mistake and grew Leila. You did not waste your time. Do not ever think that way. And you deserve better than him anyway.”

“I feel trapped here.”

“Then we will find a way to get you out.” She said, sounding certain. “But for now.” She reached out and placed another filled shot in front of me. “We drink our problems away.”
