CHAPTER EIGHT: The beginning of a doomsday

Hayden watch silently as a man step out of a car and look around. He could feel his beast trying to come out but he hiss to keep it relaxed.

This isn't the time and place.. Hayden thought sad quietly to Beasty.

Isabella watched him  staring intensely at Duvall who has arrived late to the annual event. She heard the beast in Hayden growl but surprisingly she isn't scared at all.

" That's Duvall of research foundation. His son is a renowned scientist. Why are you staring hard at him ? " She asked the man before her who didn't pay her any attention.

Hayden walk into the hall without giving Isabella an answer, the latter clenched her teeth before following him.

" For goodness sake Hayden, this is actually the second time you ignore me tonight and i would not... " She start to protest as she followed Hayden behind but stop immediately when  he turn to her with a straight face.

" Why does it bother you ? You said I'm a beast and nothing more " He replied grimly. He watch as her mouth twitched on the side angrily.

" Then go your way " She said straightening her shoulder before walking away. She didn't later set her eyes on Hayden till the annual event came to an end. When she sat in the car going home she wonder where Joyce has been.

I didn't set my eyes on her throughout. Is she even okay? She thought to herself as she sat tiredly at the backseat. She had tried calling her numerous time but her number isn't going through.

She drop her eyelids slowly to take a nap but the image of Hayden appeared making her to sit up quickly dismissing the idea of sleeping. She rub her temple feeling weak.

Her though was interrupted when she saw leon Duvall standing by the road side looking around.

" What is wrong ? " She asked him as she get out from the car.

She would have left him standing if it hasn't been a late hour already and she feared some beasts might attack him.

" Isabella ! " Leon answer in delight " forgive me, my car broke down "

She look over to him with a small smile.

" Here, let me help you then. You can come back for your car tomorrow " she said and Leon smile happily as if he has been waiting all his life for the offer.

" Drop Mr Duvall home first please " She said to her chauffeur who nodded without saying a word.

The drive began with an awkward silent.

" I have seen you many time on TV but never have I thought you can be so beautiful as you are now " Leon said and Isabella smile at him in response.

She isn't ready for any conversation with him at all. Her thoughts were all about Hayden dark and the beast within him. She shook his head , angry that the man face just keeping poping into her mind. To keep her self busy she turn to Leon who smile happily that he has gained her attention.

" What do you think about the Beasts Mr... "

Leon held up a hand to stop her.

" It's Leon please, you make me feel like an old man when you address me like that " He said smiling, revealing a perfect set of teeth. She tore her eyes away from his face hating to admit that he is also handsome but not enough to surpass Hayden.

" Okay Leon, how do you feel about the beasts? " She repeated her question easily. She didn't Know why she was asking such a question from a man she met that day.

Leon tilted his head backward thoughtfully.

" I do not really like them. In fact I'm upset that they stole double world from us "

" Stole? You mean us, the humans? " Isabella asked clueless.

" Yes, don't you see how they have multiply. They even have a leader who defend them anytime and anywhere "

" Really? Is their leader nice? " Isabella asked interestedly. She became very eager to learn about the beasts now that she have met Hayden.

" Yes he is but he is very dangerous as well. I have witness him shifting twice and the sight is very scary. " Leon replied. He was quite happy to have a conversation with Isabella who seem very interested in the topic.

He search her face and saw her pouting.

" Huh? You hate the beasts too? I learnt you never indulge yourself in anything that has to do with them "

He asked curiously then he shrugged his shoulder as he didn't get any response.

" I hate them as well that is why I'm doing this " he finished.

Isabella stare at him , confused.

" Doing what ? "

" To cure them of course, i have cured three beasts and luckily it has work out well " He said smiling.

" You did what? " Isabella choked out the words in utter disbelief.

Leon nodded " i cure them. They have been to me, lamenting about their fate and i help them out "

Just as he was speaking the car halted at his resident.

" I can't thank you enough Isabella, I owe you one " He said and alighted.

Isabella stare at his retreating back in disbelief.

Wait! There is blood on his shirt. She said to herself. Her face creased in confusion but she was too tired to think.

The drive continue to her home and she sat back thinking about Leon's words.

Is it really possible to cure the Beasts?

Her cellphone buzz from her bag and she answered the call in haste.

" Joyce ,you better have a good ex... " She stop halfway when she heard her best friend crying.

" What is wrong Joyce? Are you okay ? " She asked in concerned.

" It's mum, she is dead " Joyce said crying loudly at the other end.

Isabella exhaled sharply when she heard her friend.

She didn't respond for a while as she listen to Joyce wailing.

" I'm on my way " She said hanging up. She turn to her chauffeur " Take me to double lodge please " She said hastily to the chauffeur who took the order without saying a word.

Isabella become tensed at the news, she knew how sad Joyce must be. She has experienced the agony of loosing a mother when she was little as well.

Joyce mother's apartment came into view and she came out of the car as soon as the chauffeur turn off the engine.

She race into the apartment where a small crowd had gather.

" Joyce " She called to her friend who sat down on a wooden chair at a corner staring into space. She quickly ran to her " what happened ? "

Joyce turn her puffy eyes to Isabella.

" The Beasts, my step Father killed her " Isabella froze in shock.

" What! " She managed to croack.

A beast , but why?
