CHAPTER SIXTEEN: A man who could read minds

Isabella felt dejected when she left Hayden's domain. She tried to wave the sadness away but it just wouldn't go off her mind so she put a call to joyce who promise to leave work earlier than necessary.

She drove home to get some rest and to have a time to herself. When she step into the living room she met a man , no, not just any man , a very beautiful one who smile at her brightly.

Isabella heart skip a beat at the sight

Why do i keep encounting beautiful men this days ? She asked herself inwardly but to her great surprise the man responded.

" Because you deserve it "

Isabella exhaled sharply at this. She neatly lost her footing but thanks to the mysterious man who held her.

Carol , Isabella step mother walk into the living room at that moment and smile.

" Isabella you are here " She said smiling brightly.

Isabella quickly look away from the mesmerizing eyes of the mysterious man and face her step mother with a questioning eyes. The woman get the message quickly.

" Oh you man Sidney. He is your step brother and he has come to live here "

What? My step brother is this man who could easily read my minds?

She look uneasily at Sidney who has a smile playing at the corner of his mouth.

" He isn't human " was all Isabella says and Carol smile at her, nodding.

" Yes he isn't. "

Isabella glance at both Sidney and Carol uneasily before she walk off to her room. She is quite scared to realize someone other than Hayden can read the mind.

No wait. Hayden can't read minds , he could only feel the people's need. She reminded herself. Is Sidney not a Beast? Oh goodness, everything is going crazy in this double world.

" You shouldn't have let her know you aren't a human Sid, i told you promised to stay low for now " carol scolded the man whose lips were very red and his skin so white that his appearance would be mistaken for a vampire.

" She is beautiful " Sidney responded staring at the direction of Isabella's room.

Carol understood what is going on. She has known his son for a very long time to know that his desire right then was to take Isabella.

" You can't mate with her Sid, she has a fiance already " carol informed the insanely handsome man before her in a shaky voice. He turn to carol and smirk.

He reached out to graze her cheek with his thumb.

" Don't you think it is very unfair to send her off to Hayden without me taking her first?  " He asked gently but carol who has been accustom by his behavior could only nodded weakly.

" I don't think Hayden will take it slightly if he learnt about it but then i heard he doesn't desire to have her as wife " she quickly replied .

" I want her, just once or twice before she left for her husband who will surely meet his doom sooner. I won't allow that weak man lead the Beasts family, not anymore "

Carol wanted to protest but she stop immediately she saw the determination in Sidney's face.

At that moment Joyce walk into the living room and stop suddenly when she saw Sidney's hand on carol cheek.

She greeted them gently before walking off to Isabella's room.

The latter was very excited to see her best friend. She quickly stood up from the bed to hug her.

" Joyce you are here ! " She said happily before releasing her from her embrace.

She look around fearfully before bolting the door.

" Come here, i need to discuss some words with you " she said in a hush tone.

Joyce though confuse obey without hesitation. She sat down beside Isabella on the bed waiting for the beautiful lady before her to say something.

" Do you meet a strange man at the living room? " She ask whispering.

Joyce became interested. Her eyebrows drawn together in confusion.

" Of course, he look very mysterious and somehow dangerous. I saw him caressing your step mother's cheek " Joyce replied quietly but the she look around " why are we whispering? We are alone here ... Right ? "

Isabella shook her head " My step mother introduce him to me as my step brother, his name is Sidney and he can read minds "

Joyce stare at Isabella for a moment before bursting out laughing.

" No one can read minds issy, even the powerful gorgeous leader of the beast family can't do that " she said dismissing Isabella's words but the latter shot her s serious look.

" I am dead serious Joyce. You should be careful around him, mum said he will be living here from now on "

" What? Him living here? Why? " She asked in horror

" He is my step brother so i think he has the right to live here, MT castle is big enough anyway. oh yeah the wedding ! " She announced as soon as she remembered.

Joyce eyes wide open became very interested in the conversation.

" What about it? "

" It will be held next week "

Joyce stop breathing at the news for a second. Her features contorted in deep concentration.

" How do you mean next week? " She asked in awe.

" Father informed me this morning "

" Oh lucky you! I wonder how Hayden will react when he heard the news. I'm not sure if he is ready to get married as of now " Joyce replied sighing.

" Exactly, i have been to him earlier but he shoo me off like he always does. "

" Really? You visited him? I heard he has returned from the cave. Oh issy i think you should tell him how you feel already. It might help " Joyce suggested.

Isabella look away .

" I don't feel anything close to love for that man. Come on leave for your room , i need to think " She said pulling Joyce to her feet.

The door open suddenly and both the woman started. They turn in the direction of the doorway to see Sidney standing by the entrance. His gaze on Isabella.

I thought i locked the door. She thought within her fearfully.

Sidney marched into the room , his dark eyes volleyed between the two women before settling  on Isabella.

" The locked doors open per my request. A mere furniture won't stop me " he said smiling. Again he has prove that he could read anyone's mind.

That information alone makes the Best Friend shudder in fear.
