EVELYN’S POV:
Leonard picked me up in a bridal style and carried me back into the house. He brought me to a room filled with medical equipment. Almost immediately, a doctor appeared, setting his focus on my injured leg as Leonard gently placed me on the bed.
The doctor began to examine my injury. As he explained its severity to Leonard, I could see the unrelenting seriousness etched on his face. His expression was dark and unreadable, but I could sense his frustration.
I, however, wasn’t ready to deal with his anger or frustration. I only wanted to go home, to speak with my father and clear my head of the turmoil that was growing with each passing moment.
The doctor administered pain relief and carefully wrapped my leg in bandages. He advised me to avoid moving it unnecessarily.
“She won’t have any reason to move it,” Leonard interjected, his tone firm.
Once the doctor left, I turned to Leonard. “I want to go home. Can you take me?”
Before he could respond, his mother walked into the room. Her expression, unlike before, was softer, almost remorseful. She approached me with an apologetic air.
“Evelyn,” she said gently, “you have to understand that I had no idea what was going on. I’m deeply sorry for the way I acted earlier. I should have thought things through before speaking. Please know you are always welcome here, and you have my blessings with Leonard.”
Her words were surprising. I didn’t know whether Leonard had compelled her to say them or if she truly meant them. But as I listened, her sincerity was evident.
“It’s alright, ma’am. I hold no grudge against you,” I replied, though my heart was still heavy. “But I’d really like to go home. Please, can you ask Leonard to take me?”
For a brief moment, guilt flickered across her face, and I knew she genuinely regretted her earlier actions. But no matter how sincere she was, I still wanted to go home.
“Evelyn, dear,” she said, her voice tender, “I want to make things right with you. Please stay. I won’t get tire of hosting you, and I want to take this opportunity to thank you for the changes you’ve brought to Leonard. You’ve helped him become a man.”
“Changed him?” I asked, startled by her statement.
She nodded, smiling. “Before you came into his life, Leonard was... different. Uninterested in everything, disconnected. You’ve brought him to life.”
She went on to share stories about Leonard’s past—stories, only then I realized why it had taken him so long to ask me out. Though I hadn’t been with him for long, her words made me feel like I’d made a meaningful impact.
As her stories unfolded, the tension in my heart began to ease. That night, Leonard’s mom and I spent time bonding, and I started to see her as a mother figure.
Still, the thought of Dana’s threats lingered in my mind. Her words and the so-called evidence she claimed to have against my father refused to leave me in peace. I needed to speak with him, but for now, Leonard’s mother seemed intent on keeping me close.
The next morning, she made breakfast herself. I joined her in the kitchen, engaging in lighthearted conversation as she cooked. Her warmth was contagious, and I began to enjoy her company.
Leonard eventually joined us at the dining table, his face lighting up when he saw how well his mother and I were getting along. He didn’t need to say anything—his joy was clear.
For the first time in days, I felt at peace. The only thing missing was my father’s presence.
As I tried to reconcile my thoughts about Dana, I reminded myself that her words were manipulative, and the evidence she had could easily have been fabricated. Still, I needed to know why my father had offered her money. Deep down, I believed in his innocence.
During breakfast, I couldn’t help but compliment Leonard’s mother on her cooking. “Now I see where Leonard got his culinary skills from,” I said with a smile.
Her eyes widened in surprise. “He cooks?”
“Not just cooks—his meals are perfect,” I replied, praising him.
Leonard, trying to suppress a blush, looked away. It was the first time I’d ever seen him blush, and it was endearing.
“This boy has truly become a man,” his mother said, her pride evident.
We continued our meal with lighthearted conversations, and when we were done, Leonard carefully carried me back to my room, making sure not to aggravate my injury.
Once inside, he took my hands and made a familiar promise: to always stand by me. Though I’d heard it many times before, this time it felt more genuine.
Later, Leonard helped me to the bathroom and bathed me gently. His care and attention were unwavering. The doctor arrived again to check on my leg, reapplying medication and wrapping it in fresh bandages. Thankfully, the process was less painful than the day before.
After the doctor left, Leonard took a quick shower. He walked out of the bathroom dripping wet, heading toward the towel on the bed. Our eyes met, and I couldn’t stop the blush that crept onto my face. Embarrassed, I looked away.
“You can look all you want,” he teased, chuckling softly.
When he finished dressing, he led me to the balcony. We sat there, enjoying the city view while sipping on refreshing drinks.
As the breeze brushed against us, I decided it was time to open up. I told Leonard everything—Dana’s threats, the messages, and how they were gone. His calm reaction surprised me.
“Don’t worry about it,” he said simply.
His composure unnerved me. I couldn’t tell what he was thinking or planning, but I chose to trust him and pushed the troubling thoughts aside, allowing myself to enjoy the moment.
My phone buzzed, interrupting the peace. It was a call from my father.
“Dad!” I answered quickly, his voice filled with concern as he asked about my wellbeing.
“I’m fine,” I assured him, though my voice betrayed a hint of uncertainty. After a brief conversation, I hung up, relieved to have heard from him.
Moments later, an email notification popped up on my phone, followed by another, and another.
I hesitated to open them, fear gnawing at me. But Leonard urged me on, his calm demeanor steadying me.
With trembling hands, I opened the emails.
What I read made my heart drop. Tears welled up in my eyes, and I couldn’t stop them from spilling over.
EVELYN'S POV The company had been released from hold, and I was now receiving messages from both new and old partners, eager to collaborate with my company. It was clear these developments were all due to Leonard's influence—who else could it have been? I hugged him tightly and thanked him, my heart brimming with gratitude. As I reflected on everything, my thoughts turned to my father. He would be so happy to hear this news, and I couldn’t wait to share it with him. The company’s revival meant I had to get back to work. However, I knew there would be challenges. For one, I wouldn’t take back the workers who had resigned. Even though I was confident they would try to return, I had already decided to move forward without them.Just as Leonard and I were discussing plans for the company, my phone buzzed again. I glanced at the screen—it was a notification from the media. They had announced that my father, Wyatt, was not guilty and that further investigations would confirm the allegation
EVELYN’S POV “Evelyn,” Leonard groaned, his grip tightening on me. I knew he was close to release, but I wasn’t ready for that yet. Slowly, I loosened my hold on him, releasing his erection from my hand. He was still as hard as ever, the bathroom fell silent for a moment.Standing up, I engulfed him in another searing kiss. He picked me up effortlessly, and we managed to make our way out of the bathroom without breaking the kiss. Gently, Leonard laid me down on the bed. EVELYN’S POV:We went to the living room to watch a TV show together, my dad and I, but I wasn’t concentrating. Without Leonard, I felt incomplete. I felt feverish and I requested a cup of coffee, which Leonard's mom instructed one of the cooks to make for me.Deciding to use the time for work, I excused myself from the living room.“Do you need some help?” Leonard's mother asked as I stepped onto the staircase, her eyes drifting to my injured leg. Evelyn's POVI sat in the room, the sound of my thumping heart was louder with the placidness around. As the clock ticked every moment, my body grew more intense in fear and anticipation. How long have I been sitting here? I could barely remember, but I was badly waiting for the doctor to enter the room. But even if he comes, I doubt he could dispel the unease that coiled in my stomach like a slithering serpent. I jerked back from my seat when the door was pushed open. The doctor stepped into the room and made his way to his seat. I furrowed my brows, trying to fathom his expression in order to know my fate, but he had a serious look arched on his face as he passed a paper to me. “What does it say?” I asked, looking at him desperately.“Take a look,” was his only reply as he leaned back against his seat. With a racing heart, I slowly opened the paper and read through it. “Positive?” I turned my gaze to look at the doctor. I stared at him with wide eyes in disbelief. “Doctor… I'm pr
Evelyn's POVI slowly opened my eyes but closed them immediately when I felt the pain. My head was throbbing in pain and I felt a sharp pain that left me breathless. Forcing myself to focus, I tried to move, only to realize that my limbs were unresponsive, weighed down by an unseen force. Desperation etched across my features, I attempted to scream for help, but no sound escaped my lips, trapped in a silent scream of anguish. I heard the room door slammed open and soon a fight ensued.“Evelyn?” That voice… that was familiar and in desperation to find out if my consciousness was playing a trick on me. There was no way I could be hearing the voice of my father…“Evelyn wake up? Are you okay?” The voice came again and this time, I forced my eyes open and a gasp escaped my lips.“Dad?” I called in disbelief. What was going on? What was he doing here? “A-Am I in heaven?” I asked and his brows furrowed.Where was I? I darted my eyes around in wonder, but then he spoke again. “What are you

EVELYN’S POV:I sat on the bed, my heart pounding like a raging drumbeat. I could hear their argument from the third room. If Leonard and his mum were fighting because of me, I would never forgive myself. It was obvious I wasn’t welcome here, and the logical thing to do was to leave before Leonard came back.Summoning all the courage I could muster, I stood up and scanned the space for a way out. The security around the house was tight, but I intended to try my best. I walked quietly to the door and opened it to find two security guards stationed just outside.“Ma’am, what may we get you?” one of them asked.I forced a polite smile. “Where’s the kitchen?” I asked gently, masking my true intent as best as I could. He led me to the kitchen and stepped back to wait for me. I asked him to leave, but he hesitated. Apparently, Leonard had given explicit instructions that I wasn’t to leave their sight unless I was inside the room. He even offered to call the cooks to handle anything I wanted
LEONARD’S POV:I headed back upstairs, where I met Evelyn struggling to put on her heels. I helped her out, and together, we left the room. As we were heading downstairs, a loud noise boomed from outside. Evelyn immediately clung to me, her body trembling with fear. I gently rubbed her palm to assure her that I was there, And she was safe. The noise grew louder, and she turned to me, her wide eyes filled with questions.Understanding her unspoken words, I simply smiled and led her outside.“No way,” she whispered, disbelief etched in her voice as her gaze landed on the helicopter waiting outside. She turned to me, her eyes sparkling with a mixture of surprise and wonder.I leaned in, placing a tender kiss on her lips.“Uhmm... uhmm, make sure you both are safe,” came the unmistakable voice of Mr. Wyatt.“Yes, Dad,” Evelyn responded softly, stepping into the helicopter. Soon, we were airborne, our hands intertwined the entire ride. The silence between us was filled with light conversat
