EVELYN’S POV:
We went to the living room to watch a TV show together, my dad and I, but I wasn’t concentrating. Without Leonard, I felt incomplete. I’d grown so fond of him in the past few days, and now I felt a bit sick knowing he wasn’t near me.
I felt feverish and I requested a cup of coffee, which Leonard's mom instructed one of the cooks to make for me.
Deciding to use the time for work, I excused myself from the living room.
“Do you need some help?” Leonard's mother asked as I stepped onto the staircase, her eyes drifting to my injured leg. Her voice was filled with worry.
“I’m alright,” I managed to smile at her. This woman is the sweetest person I know right now, she doesn't let any detail slip away, she cares so much.
I smiled remembering my first ordeal with her.
“Let me know if you need anything,” she said again. I nodded and left.
Once in my room, I grabbed my laptop and got to work, keeping my secretary on a call the whole time as we exchanged files. It took me at least three hours to wrap up everything, but I secured a meeting for the next day. Fortunately, I could afford to postpone it.
The meeting was with Coco Cooperative, one of the most outstanding companies in the state. We had negotiated an offer with them for a while, and it was accepted last week. I needed to meet with their CEO to ensure everything stayed on track.
After finishing my work, I headed downstairs with my laptop and briefed my dad on the latest progress. Once again, he didn’t hold back from expressing how proud he was. Leonard’s mom, on the other hand, showered me with congratulations. My mood lifted for the first time since Leonard left.
Just then, my phone drew everyone’s attention with its ringtone. I pulled it out—it was Leonard. Smiling sheepishly, I answered the call and stepped out to the balcony.
“Hey, darling,” his voice came through, deep, gentle, and calming. A blush crept onto my face.
“I’m fine. I’ve been working, and I have an appointment…” My voice trailed off when I heard a familiar voice in the background.
“Baby, you have to believe me,” the voice said. It sounded familiar, but I couldn’t immediately place it. I froze, my heart sinking.
Tears welled up in my eyes, but I was determined not to let them fall. Then, it hit me. The voice was Samantha’s. My chest tightened as the realization washed over me.
I couldn’t hold back the tears anymore; they rolled freely down my cheeks. My phone was ringing nonstop—it was Leonard again—but I didn’t answer. Instead, I sank into a chair and cried my heart out. Afterward, I composed myself, wiped my face dry, and returned to the house, determined not to disrupt the peace inside.
Luckily, no one was in the living room when I stepped in. I grabbed my laptop and headed straight to my room.
“Are you okay, Evelyn?” my dad asked from behind me.
“Yes, Dad,” I replied in a steady voice.
“Right,” he sighed. I hurried inside before he could say anything more.
Once in my room, I placed my laptop and phone on the bed and paced around. My pain had turned into anger. The phone rang again. This time, I grabbed it and smashed it against the floor. Pieces scattered across the room.
Feeling overwhelmed, I left for the bar in the house and grabbed a bottle of wine. Back in my room, I drank straight from the bottle, shot after shot. My head grew heavy, and the room started spinning. As I was about to collapse, someone caught me. I heard a muffled voice calling my name before everything went black.
---
I tried to open my eyes, but they felt heavy. A sharp ache pierced my head, and I gasped.
“Evelyn,” my dad called softly.
I tried again, and this time the pain had lessened.
“Dad… What happened?” I managed to ask.
“You passed out, and I brought you to the hospital.”
“Where’s Mia?” I asked, but his expression turned dull.
“I left without her,” he muttered.
Then, like a flood, the memories returned. My heart tightened, making it hard to breathe.
“I was listening to your call,” my dad confessed. “When you left the living room, I followed shortly after. I wanted to relax on the balcony. I didn’t know you’d been drinking. Then, I heard a scream. I rushed inside and caught you before you hit the ground. The doctor said you just need rest. You’re light-headed from the alcohol, and since you drank so fast, the effect hit harder.”
“But you should’ve brought her along,” I said, referring to Leonard’s mom. “None of this was her fault.”
“I couldn’t think straight. I was mad,” he admitted.
The doctor came in with some reports and discharged me. It was 6 p.m. when we left and booked a ride back to my father’s house. At home, everything seemed normal. My dad made coffee for me while the cooks prepared dinner, which we ate quietly before retiring for the night.
---
That night, I couldn’t sleep. I missed Leonard’s mom. My thoughts raced—was Samantha’s appearance just a misunderstanding, or was there more to it? My stomach churned with nausea. I ran to the bathroom, threw up, washed up, and returned to bed. The night felt endless, but eventually, sleep claimed me.
The next morning, my dad made sure I had an early breakfast and took my medication. Afterward, I returned to my apartment to prepare for work. By 8 a.m., I was ready to go. For safety, I didn’t drive. My dad had his security team escort me.
At the office, my secretary greeted me warmly.
“It’s nice to see you again,” I said with a smile.
Together, we inspected the office for any issues. Finding none, I settled in, worked on some files, and prepared for my meeting with the Coco Cooperative CEO.
EVELYN'S POV:I couldn’t tell how I was doing, but I decided to put everything about Leonard behind me. Since I left home, I hadn’t thought about him, and it felt like progress.During lunch, I went down to the cafeteria and had something light. Afterward, I read a book before returning to the office. Having been away for a while, I had quite a few files to sort through, but I was grateful for the virtual work I had completed back at home.I scheduled a screening and interview session for the applicants first thing tomorrow morning. I wanted it done quickly so work could return to normal. I also realized I needed to pick up the pace on some pending projects.I thought about the classes I was supposed to start with my dad. Things hadn’t been alright lately, and we hadn’t been able to begin.Opening my computer, I browsed through some books I’d subscribed to and even signed up for a few courses.A knock on the door interrupted me, and my secretary stepped into the office.“It’s almost t
Evelyn's POVI sat in the room, the sound of my thumping heart was louder with the placidness around. As the clock ticked every moment, my body grew more intense in fear and anticipation. How long have I been sitting here? I could barely remember, but I was badly waiting for the doctor to enter the room. But even if he comes, I doubt he could dispel the unease that coiled in my stomach like a slithering serpent. I jerked back from my seat when the door was pushed open. The doctor stepped into the room and made his way to his seat. I furrowed my brows, trying to fathom his expression in order to know my fate, but he had a serious look arched on his face as he passed a paper to me. “What does it say?” I asked, looking at him desperately.“Take a look,” was his only reply as he leaned back against his seat. With a racing heart, I slowly opened the paper and read through it. “Positive?” I turned my gaze to look at the doctor. I stared at him with wide eyes in disbelief. “Doctor… I'm pr
Evelyn's POVI slowly opened my eyes but closed them immediately when I felt the pain. My head was throbbing in pain and I felt a sharp pain that left me breathless. Forcing myself to focus, I tried to move, only to realize that my limbs were unresponsive, weighed down by an unseen force. Desperation etched across my features, I attempted to scream for help, but no sound escaped my lips, trapped in a silent scream of anguish. I heard the room door slammed open and soon a fight ensued.“Evelyn?” That voice… that was familiar and in desperation to find out if my consciousness was playing a trick on me. There was no way I could be hearing the voice of my father…“Evelyn wake up? Are you okay?” The voice came again and this time, I forced my eyes open and a gasp escaped my lips.“Dad?” I called in disbelief. What was going on? What was he doing here? “A-Am I in heaven?” I asked and his brows furrowed.Where was I? I darted my eyes around in wonder, but then he spoke again. “What are you
Evenly’s POV“Oh and there is our couple,” his mother's voice made me pause, and he finally pulled away. I couldn't be any less thankful for the timely interruption. Being in his arms felt suffocating, I nearly puked. She wore a black dress and behind her was Caleb’s father, matching her outfit. “I heard you were down yesterday,” she pointed out. I had always felt this extreme hate oozing from her but always ignored it: and the few times i’d spilled it to Caleb, he merely waved me off . Perhaps it was time I face the truth without ignoring it. “I'm better now, thank you,” I smiled faintly at her. I wanted it to end already because the memories of Caleb hitting my head with a rod multiple times with eyes glaring at me had began seething into my head. I felt angry, irritated and hurt at my naivety with every moment Caleb stayed beside me. Suddenly, it became too hard to breathe as the emotions weighed on my chest, making it impossible to breathe or think properly. I immediately excus
Evelyn's POVI made my way straight to the bar because it was the only place that could help blow away the cobwebs that were clogged in my heart at the moment. My thoughts were still very heavy with memories of my past life and the things I'd been through. Walking into the slightly warm space with ambient lighting, I went straight to grab an order and drink my sorrows away. I still remembered all of it, every single moment of it, and the dim lights coupled with the hum of the quiet chatting around me seemed to amplify my loneliness. I needed a drink as soon as possible. Sitting at the bar, I gestured towards the bartender. “Whiskey, please.” I requested, flashing a tight-lipped smile that didn't reach my eyes. He disappeared behind the counter and soon popped out again before pouring me a copious amount. I nodded and began to sip on my drink. I thought about the choices I had made, the people I had hurt, and the life I had just left behind. It was all for the best, I wasn't going t
Evelyn's POV“Evelyn, where have you been all these time? Have been trying your number, but I got no response from you. Do you know he was worried? I was also scared,” my father's voice resounded in the living room as he flared up? I was somehow expecting this reaction. He hated being lost or confused and after everything that happened yesterday at the engagement party, he must have felt exhausted while trying to answer the questions from the guests and worse, from Caleb's parents. “We have a lot to discuss, so sit down,” he gestured towards a couch without waiting for me to explain myself. I could tell that he was angry.“I'm sorry, dad, for not telling you about my plans or explaining why I had to cancel the engagement,” I started. “But the truth is, I don't think I want to get married to Caleb anymore,” I said and waited for him to respond. His brows creased into a hard knot as he stared at me speechlessly. He seemed confused again. “I don't understand. This is the same guy that
Evelyn's POVThe morning sunlight streamed through the large windows of my father's office, bathing the room in a warm glow. I sat across from him, feeling slightly tense as I watched him go over some company reports. His expression was unreadable, a combination of stern focus and fatherly concern. I couldn’t help but wonder if he truly believed I could handle all this responsibility.“You wanted to learn, Evelyn,” he said finally, setting the papers down and fixing his sharp eyes on me. “Running a company like this isn’t about making speeches and shaking hands. It’s about decisions, hard ones. Do you think you’re ready for that?”I nodded, though my heart pounded in my chest. “I know it’s a lot, Dad, but I’m ready to prove myself. I just need you to give me a chance.”He leaned back in his chair, studying me for what felt like an eternity. “Alright,” he said at last. “I’ll start by letting you sit in on today’s board meeting. Just observe. Listen carefully. If you still want to do th
Evelyn POV Dana’s message came out of the blue late in the evening. "Can we meet tomorrow? I’m worried about you."For a moment, I stared at the screen, wondering if I’d imagined it. Dana wasn’t the type to check in unless she had an ulterior motive. Still, curiosity tugged at me. What could she possibly want? Her concern felt as genuine as a plastic pearl, but I decided to play along. The next afternoon, I walked into the café, a quiet little spot tucked into the corner of the city. Dana had chosen the table by the window, naturally. She was already seated, her designer sunglasses perched on her head and a delicate teacup in her manicured hands.“Evelyn!” she said brightly, her smile wide enough to show all her teeth. “You look amazing.”“Thanks,” I replied coolly, pulling out the chair across from her. “You wanted to talk?”The waiter approached, and Dana ordered her usual tea with extra honey, explaining how she’d been “under the weather.” I asked for coffee, no frills. As the wai

EVELYN’S POV:I applied more pressure, knowing I was giving him intense pleasure. Leonard’s groans turned into moans, growing louder and more desperate. Seeing the look of ecstasy on his face drove me wild, and I stroked him harder.“Yeah, that’s it,” he moaned, and I continued steadily until his thick, white release splashed across my face. I trailed my fingers through it, licking it off while maintaining eye contact.Leonard stood from the bed and carefully laid me down, avoiding any contact with my injured leg. He gently removed my pants, his soft touches sending shivers through my body. Then, he buried his head between my thighs. His tongue explored and savored every inch of me, drawing out uncontrollable moans that echoed around the room.I clung to his hair, pushing him deeper as the sensations coursed through me like waves of electricity. My release built rapidly, my body trembling under his touch. Finally, I let go, the intensity overwhelming as liquid gushed out of me. Leonar
EVELYN’S POV.The guards rushed to the car and opened the door. My father stepped out gently, and I was in awe. I ran to him and hugged him tightly.Indeed, Leonard had been intentional. When had he managed to put everything together in such a short period of time? I was overwhelmed with excitement. My father and I walked into the house, where he was greeted warmly by Leonard's mom. She didn’t waste any time organizing dinner for him. Meanwhile, Leonard had stayed outside the entire time. As my dad sat at the dining table, he was accompanied by Leonard's mom, while I excused myself and walked to the room.I needed to ease myself. But what I saw inside astonished me even more. My laptop was on the bed.Leonard had truly prepared everything for me to stay here. I smiled and jumped on the bed, but my leg hit the side of it, and I realized I hadn’t fully healed yet. I held my leg tightly as pain surged through me. It felt just like the first day I hit it on that pillar. The pain coursed t
EVELYN’S POV “Evelyn,” Leonard groaned, his grip tightening on me. I knew he was close to release, but I wasn’t ready for that yet. Slowly, I loosened my hold on him, releasing his erection from my hand. He was still as hard as ever, the bathroom fell silent for a moment.Standing up, I engulfed him in another searing kiss. He picked me up effortlessly, and we managed to make our way out of the bathroom without breaking the kiss. Gently, Leonard laid me down on the bed. His lips never left mine, and his hands explored every inch of my body.I couldn’t suppress my moans anymore, even as the thought crossed my mind: could his mom hear us? But there was no time to dwell on that. Leonard’s mouth trailed lower, igniting a fire with every touch until it reached my core.He buried his head between my thighs, his tongue exploring me in ways that made my back arch off the bed. I couldn’t hold back as I tangled my fingers in his hair, pulling him closer, and urging him to go deeper. The pleasu
EVELYN'S POV The company had been released from hold, and I was now receiving messages from both new and old partners, eager to collaborate with my company. It was clear these developments were all due to Leonard's influence—who else could it have been? I hugged him tightly and thanked him, my heart brimming with gratitude. As I reflected on everything, my thoughts turned to my father. He would be so happy to hear this news, and I couldn’t wait to share it with him. The company’s revival meant I had to get back to work. However, I knew there would be challenges. For one, I wouldn’t take back the workers who had resigned. Even though I was confident they would try to return, I had already decided to move forward without them.Just as Leonard and I were discussing plans for the company, my phone buzzed again. I glanced at the screen—it was a notification from the media. They had announced that my father, Wyatt, was not guilty and that further investigations would confirm the allegation
EVELYN’S POV:Leonard picked me up in a bridal style and carried me back into the house. He brought me to a room filled with medical equipment. Almost immediately, a doctor appeared, setting his focus on my injured leg as Leonard gently placed me on the bed.The doctor began to examine my injury. As he explained its severity to Leonard, I could see the unrelenting seriousness etched on his face. His expression was dark and unreadable, but I could sense his frustration.I, however, wasn’t ready to deal with his anger or frustration. I only wanted to go home, to speak with my father and clear my head of the turmoil that was growing with each passing moment. The doctor administered pain relief and carefully wrapped my leg in bandages. He advised me to avoid moving it unnecessarily.“She won’t have any reason to move it,” Leonard interjected, his tone firm.Once the doctor left, I turned to Leonard. “I want to go home. Can you take me?”Before he could respond, his mother walked into the
EVELYN’S POV:I sat on the bed, my heart pounding like a raging drumbeat. I could hear their argument from the third room. If Leonard and his mum were fighting because of me, I would never forgive myself. It was obvious I wasn’t welcome here, and the logical thing to do was to leave before Leonard came back.Summoning all the courage I could muster, I stood up and scanned the space for a way out. The security around the house was tight, but I intended to try my best. I walked quietly to the door and opened it to find two security guards stationed just outside.“Ma’am, what may we get you?” one of them asked.I forced a polite smile. “Where’s the kitchen?” I asked gently, masking my true intent as best as I could. He led me to the kitchen and stepped back to wait for me. I asked him to leave, but he hesitated. Apparently, Leonard had given explicit instructions that I wasn’t to leave their sight unless I was inside the room. He even offered to call the cooks to handle anything I wanted
LEONARD’S POV:I headed back upstairs, where I met Evelyn struggling to put on her heels. I helped her out, and together, we left the room. As we were heading downstairs, a loud noise boomed from outside. Evelyn immediately clung to me, her body trembling with fear. I gently rubbed her palm to assure her that I was there, And she was safe. The noise grew louder, and she turned to me, her wide eyes filled with questions.Understanding her unspoken words, I simply smiled and led her outside.“No way,” she whispered, disbelief etched in her voice as her gaze landed on the helicopter waiting outside. She turned to me, her eyes sparkling with a mixture of surprise and wonder.I leaned in, placing a tender kiss on her lips.“Uhmm... uhmm, make sure you both are safe,” came the unmistakable voice of Mr. Wyatt.“Yes, Dad,” Evelyn responded softly, stepping into the helicopter. Soon, we were airborne, our hands intertwined the entire ride. The silence between us was filled with light conversat
