Mila’s POV “You’re late.” Came from a man that looked to be in charge of the training to Trina, as his eyes moved to me, looking at me coldly, before he asks, “What is she doing here?” Asking her instead of me why I was here, even though he is staring directly at me, as if it were beneath him to question me himself. “Alpha Gunner gave me orders to bring her to training, Sir.” Trina tells him, and his eyes stare at me a bit longer than I would have liked, as the coldness in them sent chills down my spine. “Well, if Alpha Gunner wants his breeder to train, then who am I to question his demands.” He then said with what sounded like sarcasm in his voice, before he says with a firm tone, “Get in line, and take his breeder with you.” Trina quickly grabbed ahold of my arm, pulling me to the back of the men and women all in lines, as each one of them gawked at me, making me feel unwanted. I should have known that was going to be
Mila’s POV Slowly, I made my way back over to Beta Ryker, praying that he would have sympathy upon me, with what just happened, as he continued to stare at me, noticing the pain in my eyes. When I was within a few feet of him, I stopped, putting my head down, as he quickly moved around me, obviously looking at my back where the man in charge had inflicted my wound. “We need to get you to the pack doctor. Without your wolf, it won’t heal on its own.” Beta Ryker said to me with worry in his voice, as he reappeared in front of me, before he says to me, “You are lucky I got here when I did, it could have been much worse.” I knew that he had stopped the man in charge from hurting me, and I was thankful for that, but I also knew that he was the reason that everyone knew that I was Alpha Gunner’s breeder. He was the one that had announced it to the pack upon entering the dining room, but I knew that he was probably just doing what Alpha Gunner
Gunner’s POV “What do you mean she has been poisoned?” I asked the pack doctor, infuriated to hear that she had been injected with poison when she had been taken, knowing that my men had been responsible for doing this to her. “I’m sorry Alpha Gunner to have to inform you of this, but she has a high dose of wolfsbane in her system. I checked our storage of it, and it seems that we are missing a crate of it. I believe that all the she wolves that had been taken that night were injected with it.” The pack doctor explains to me, as I let out a growl, knowing that I have traitors within my pack. My eyes move to Mila, sleeping peacefully on the bed, but as they move down her back, I can see the bruise that she had withstood from the training that I had forced her to do today. Guilt rushed through me, knowing that this was my fault as I knew she wasn’t ready to train, but wanted her to be able to protect herself, knowing that I had a traitor w
Mila’s POV Whatever the doctor had given me to take away my pain, had taken over the entirety of my body, taking away not just my pain, but also put me into a deep sleep, as wonderful memories of my past with my family came to me in my state of unconsciousness. My mother, this time, was gently brushing my hair, as she prepared me for a celebration, as I looked down to see myself in a beautiful white gown. Once again, I had thought this to be a memory, but the dress was not one that I had ever worn before. Realization at that moment dawned on me, that this wasn’t a memory, but a moment in time, that I once again would never share with my family. When my mother was finished brushing my curls out, she says to me, “There, the Alpha will be pleased.” My eyes moved back up to the mirror to see her reflection in it, as I could see the happiness in her eyes for me, but I wondered what she meant by the Alpha would be pleased. Not
Mila’s POV My heart instantly began to race, as fear rushed through me, while his words registered in my head. They were the same words that had been spoken to me, to awaken me the night that Red Moon attacked my pack. As my eyes began to focus, I realized the chaos that was erupting around us, as the pack doctor was already in a frenzy to help with the wounded. “I need to get you to safety.” Beta Ryker says to me, as he helps me to sit up in bed, before he grabs ahold of my arm, pulling me towards the door. At first, I hurried with him willingly to get to safety, in fear of my life, but as I looked around at all the wounded pack members, noticing that there were too many for the pack doctor alone to treat, I knew that I couldn’t just leave them. Pulling my arm from Beta Ryker’s grasp, I say to him, “I can’t leave here. There’s too many injured. I have to help the pack doctor.” Before I turned away from him, not giving him a chance to re
Mila’s POV The word stay sounded more like a plea than a command, as my eyes moved to look into his eyes. In his eyes, I could see his vulnerability, and for a moment I thought to myself that I could end his life right now, and free myself from his imprisonment. But then that thought disappeared before it was even fully formed, as I knew looking at him in the state he was in, I didn’t have it in me to do it. Something about his hold on my arm reminded me of the security he brought me, in my dream, and right now he was needing mine.My eyes at that moment moved to the pack doctor, who was staring between the to of us, confused just as much as I was, but then the look of recognition formed on his face, before he says, “Mila, I am going to need you to assist me in his surgery.” With the pack doctor now asking me for his help, I found myself trapped in staying, and I honestly didn’t know if the pack doctor truly needed me, or if he was just trying to persua
Mila’s POV Thankfully, the pack doctor had Alpha Gunner stitched up in a matter of no time, as the bleeding began to clot like it should have, and he now prepared a syringe that would wake him. My eyes continued to stare at the doors, still in fear that someone would burst through them at any moment, as I waited for Alpha Gunner to wake up, but everything seemed normal.I began to second guess what the pack doctor was insinuating was going on here, as there were no signs that Alpha Gunner’s life was still in danger. If they knew that he was badly wounded, I would have thought that they would have rushed in to finish him off, but that wasn’t the case.“Mila, I need you to grab ahold of his hand, because I don’t know what state of mind he will be in when I awaken him.” The pack doctor says to me, as he stands beside Alpha Gunner holding the syringe to the flesh of his arm, waiting for me to comply with what he is asking of me. Looking from the doors over at the pack doc
Mila’s POV A shiver ran throughout my entire body, making my legs and hands shake uncontrollably, while I tried to steady myself, as I stood on the stage with a spotlight blinding me, rendering my sight of those before me. My heart pounded heavily in my chest, as I tried to keep my breathing steady, not wanting to show any fear, because I knew that it was a sign of weakness. I couldn’t dishonor my family’s name or what was left of it, by showing an ounce of fear, but it was hard right now for me to be strong, because everything I had known was nothing but ashes now. The smell of expensive cigars mixed with alcohol filled the room, making me lower my head as it reminded me of my father’s office. As the smoke now made its way to the stage I stood upon, it began to hover in the air around me like the morning fog, but unlike the morning fog, it didn’t bring the scent of the earth’s life with it, but the scent of my doom. “Next up for auction
