Mila’s POV The word stay sounded more like a plea than a command, as my eyes moved to look into his eyes. In his eyes, I could see his vulnerability, and for a moment I thought to myself that I could end his life right now, and free myself from his imprisonment. But then that thought disappeared before it was even fully formed, as I knew looking at him in the state he was in, I didn’t have it in me to do it. Something about his hold on my arm reminded me of the security he brought me, in my dream, and right now he was needing mine.My eyes at that moment moved to the pack doctor, who was staring between the to of us, confused just as much as I was, but then the look of recognition formed on his face, before he says, “Mila, I am going to need you to assist me in his surgery.” With the pack doctor now asking me for his help, I found myself trapped in staying, and I honestly didn’t know if the pack doctor truly needed me, or if he was just trying to persua
Mila’s POV Thankfully, the pack doctor had Alpha Gunner stitched up in a matter of no time, as the bleeding began to clot like it should have, and he now prepared a syringe that would wake him. My eyes continued to stare at the doors, still in fear that someone would burst through them at any moment, as I waited for Alpha Gunner to wake up, but everything seemed normal.I began to second guess what the pack doctor was insinuating was going on here, as there were no signs that Alpha Gunner’s life was still in danger. If they knew that he was badly wounded, I would have thought that they would have rushed in to finish him off, but that wasn’t the case.“Mila, I need you to grab ahold of his hand, because I don’t know what state of mind he will be in when I awaken him.” The pack doctor says to me, as he stands beside Alpha Gunner holding the syringe to the flesh of his arm, waiting for me to comply with what he is asking of me. Looking from the doors over at the pack doc
Mila’s POV A shiver ran throughout my entire body, making my legs and hands shake uncontrollably, while I tried to steady myself, as I stood on the stage with a spotlight blinding me, rendering my sight of those before me. My heart pounded heavily in my chest, as I tried to keep my breathing steady, not wanting to show any fear, because I knew that it was a sign of weakness. I couldn’t dishonor my family’s name or what was left of it, by showing an ounce of fear, but it was hard right now for me to be strong, because everything I had known was nothing but ashes now. The smell of expensive cigars mixed with alcohol filled the room, making me lower my head as it reminded me of my father’s office. As the smoke now made its way to the stage I stood upon, it began to hover in the air around me like the morning fog, but unlike the morning fog, it didn’t bring the scent of the earth’s life with it, but the scent of my doom. “Next up for auction
Mila’s POV My hands continued to tremble, as I sat in the back of an SUV alone, that I was quickly escorted out of the building to, and I had to wonder what was happening inside the building after I had been forced to leave the stage by a group of Alpha Gunner’s men. It was clear that the auctioneer had made a grave mistake putting his hands on me once I was sold, but I had to wonder who else in the building was going to pay with their lives, for just looking at me, after I was now officially his possession. It is said that an Alpha is very territorial of their breeders, since they are his possession, but left unmarked by them, due to the fact that the only she wolf to bear their mark is their mate and Luna. Story has it that only those trusted by the Alpha are allowed to set eyes on his breeders, and all others that do without his permission pay the price of death for doing so, and it was a lonely life I had to look forward to. The back
Mila’s POV Turning to face the room, I didn’t even bother to check the room out, as I raced for a door that I prayed was the bathroom, while all I could think about at this moment was quenching my thirst with water, even if it was from the bathroom faucet. Thankfully, there was a private bathroom, and as I turned the faucet to the sink on and lowered my head to the cool water that ran from it, dipping my mouth to soak up its glory, I realized that everything I had taken for granted was now gone. As the cool water ran down the back of my throat, warm tears began to pour from my eyes, as I no longer could hold them back. Now that I was alone in the privacy of my own prison, I could finally let out all the emotional grief that I had been holding deep inside of me. Turning the faucet off, I turned and lowered myself slowly to the floor, pulling my knees to my chest, as I continued to sob, while I thought about my parents, and my older brothe
Gunner’s POV “She’s eating, Alpha.” Beta Ryker tells me as he enters my office, while I try and deal with the mess that I had made tonight at the auction. Thankfully, I didn’t foresee any of the other packs holding it against me, since I had purchased the she wolf fair and square, and the auctioneer should have known better than to touch what was mine. “Good. She is no use to me if she dies. Make sure she continues to eat. I’m entrusting you with her wellbeing.” I inform him, as I continue to look down at the stack of papers on my desk, coming now across the paperwork from the war that happened against Crescent Moon in my absence, wondering who the hell placed an order to take action against them. “May I ask a question, Alpha?” Beta Ryker now asks me, as I began to read over the paperwork sent to me from the council about my pack’s actions towards Crescent Moon. “What is it Beta?” I asked him, not looking up from the pape
Mila’s POV As I devoured the food that the Beta had brought up for me, I finally looked around at my imprisonment and realized quickly that the room wasn’t a breeder’s room. In fact, by looking at the expensive décor, this room was meant for no other than the Luna of the pack.My eyes instantly moved to the second door in the room, and I knew exactly where that door led to. My heart began to race knowing that I would be sleeping only a mere wall and door between the monster that had killed my family and my pack, but my curiosity was getting the best of me.Getting to my feet, I moved towards the door, placing my ear to it, to see if I could hear him within his room, but as I listened, I heard nothing, telling me that the room remained empty at this moment. I knew what I was about to do was so wrong, but something inside of me needed to see the room where the monster laid his head at night. My hand reached for the doorknob, and I slowly began to turn it, as my heart rac
Mila’s POV Exhaustion must have taken over me when I finally laid my head upon the pillow, and the bed had felt like a heavenly cloud beneath me, after what I had been forced to sleep on for the past couple of days. In my dream, I dreamt of my family all alive again, sitting around the dinner table like we had done every night, with smiles on all their faces, as we talked about our day. It brought me comfort seeing them all once again, even if it was only in my dream, because it was the first time that I had seen them in my mind without the way they looked when I last saw them, after the massacre. As the dream continued, and I sat there at the dinner table with them in silence, listening to their voices gracing me with the pleasure of hearing them again, I couldn’t help but shed a tear, as I knew this was all just a dream. My mother at that moment got up from the table, and I watched as she disappeared into the kitchen, praying that she would come back
