Mila’s POV “Jealous much?” projected from with in me to Trina as I couldn’t maintain my anger that was now building up inside of me, from everything that came from her lips, as I had pieced so much more together in my silence, listening to her. She was right about one thing, and that was she had underestimated me and my abilities to listen and put things together, as my father had taught me that sometimes to understand we have to listen to what is being said to us. Trina’s eyes now narrowed as she gazed at me, but I didn’t give her the chance to answer my question, because it was now my turn to talk. “You said that you couldn’t believe that Alpha Gunner had given me the Luna’s room over giving it to you, is that because in that demented mind of yours, you always dreamt of becoming his mate and the Luna of Red Moon? I mean, you did stay with Red Moon even after you had gotten your wolf, and you could have left at any time, but something must have been ke
Mila’s POV The impact I had braced for from Trina never came, making me open my eyes to see Alpha Gunner holding her in his grasp. Trina began to yell and kick, trying to get him to release her, but he continued to hold her tightly in his arms, as he says to her, “It’s over Trina.” As I looked around the rogues’ camp, it now was completely abandoned, as they all had left her to deal with the aftermath and the repercussions that she caused. Within seconds the council’s army began to arrive at the rogues’ camp, along with our own warriors, and they all came to a halt, shifting back into their human forms, when they realized that the camp was deserted. “Where is the rogues’ army?” A commander from the council’s army asks, as he steps towards us, before he realizes that Alpha Gunner has Trina detained. “The rogues’ army no longer exists and will no longer be a problem to any of us.” Alpha Gunner tells them, and the look of co
Mila’s POV A few weeks passed, and even though I was technically home, it didn’t feel like home anymore. Everyone I had ever loved or knew was gone, and the walls to the house felt like they were closing in on me with each day that passed. Seth was my only means to human interaction, and I was thankful that he had stayed with me, but something told me that he had his orders too. Even though Alpha Gunner was leaving me alone per my wishes, he was still taking care of me from afar, as daily deliveries of food and supplies were delivered, along with bouquets of flowers. It was clear that he was trying his hardest to give me the space that I needed to heal, but he also was trying to show me the love that he had for me. It was almost a month that had passed before a letter accompanied the delivery, and I hesitated to open it, in fear of what it would say. As I sat there at the dining room table with it in my hand, recognizing his handwriting
Gunner’s POV It was killing me being away from her, but I had promised her, her freedom, and if that was what she chose, then I had to respect her choice. I couldn’t take back the pain that I had caused her, but I prayed each night to the Moon Goddess that she would forgive me and one day come back to me. The pack house no longer felt like a home, but like purgatory to me, as it reminded me of all the losses I had endured at the hands of Trina. Now knowing that my parents’ deaths were caused by hatred by the person that they had taken in, killed me, especially knowing how much they cared for her, making me wonder if all these years the love she showed them had been an act on her behalf towards them. Looking back, I tried to piece together where I had gone wrong to give her the thought that my love towards her was more than just for a sibling, but I couldn't recounter anything that I would have done to insinuate that. It was hard on me to
Mila’s POV My heart fluttered to life in my chest, as he turned to look at me with those piercing blue eyes of his, that I dreamt of seeing again. “Mila.” Softly whispered from his lips, making my breath hitch, hearing my name so gently spoken from him, as I watched him move to stand up. Knowing that the councilman’s eyes were on us, I try and pull myself together, finding my voice, before I can say to him, “I am sorry to keep you waiting.” “Don’t be sorry.” He said, as he moved now to pull a chair out for me to take a seat, while his eyes remained on me, holding me with his gaze, as I slowly sat down, not able to look away from him. As he pushes my chair in, the tips of his fingers graze against the bare flesh of my collar bone, and my breath hitches at the mere touch, as my heart begins to race in my chest, now being so close to him after so long. My head remained looking up at him, unable to look away, as those captiva
Gunner’s POV As Trina stared at me, I wanted to look away, but I couldn’t bring myself to do so. Even with all the evidence piled up against her that I had found, I still saw the little scared girl that my father had brought home. But the more I stared into her eyes today, the more I realized that little girl was no longer, and in her place stood a cold-blooded killer with no remorse for what she had done. I was never more thankful in my life for Mila’s presence today, as I needed her to calm my wolf stirring inside of me with the rage he had towards Trina. Not only was he irate about my parents’ murders, but he also blamed Trina for our mate leaving us, but I knew the truth that it was me that had done that. Either way, her hand was now holding tightly onto mine, and I knew by the feelings she was projecting to me now, she was here because she wanted to be by my side. The room now filled with growls of anger, as Trina was put on display
Mila’s POV There was nothing left that could come from Trina’s mouth that would shock me, but it was clear that she was trying to get under Alpha Gunner’s skin, and it was clearly working, as he let go of my hand and stood, calling her a liar, while a growl came from deep within him. Scared that he was going to lose it here, like he had lost it back at the auction, I quickly stood up by his side, as everyone’s eyes were now on us, as I placed my hand on his arm, begging him to regain control. Thankfully, his head turned in my direction, and in his eyes, I could see the anger that he now had towards Trina, but also, I could see that he was somehow maintaining his cool, before he nodded his head to me, telling me he was okay. “Order! Order! We must have order.” The leader of the council said, as he got to his feet once again. But his command of order didn’t phase my mate, as he remained standing and so did I, by his side. “
Mila’s POV A shiver ran throughout my entire body, making my legs and hands shake uncontrollably, while I tried to steady myself, as I stood on the stage with a spotlight blinding me, rendering my sight of those before me. My heart pounded heavily in my chest, as I tried to keep my breathing steady, not wanting to show any fear, because I knew that it was a sign of weakness. I couldn’t dishonor my family’s name or what was left of it, by showing an ounce of fear, but it was hard right now for me to be strong, because everything I had known was nothing but ashes now. The smell of expensive cigars mixed with alcohol filled the room, making me lower my head as it reminded me of my father’s office. As the smoke now made its way to the stage I stood upon, it began to hover in the air around me like the morning fog, but unlike the morning fog, it didn’t bring the scent of the earth’s life with it, but the scent of my doom. “Next up for auction

Mila’s POV As I remained there silent, allowing Trina to spill the truth from her own lips to his ears, my heart ached in pain knowing that he didn’t believe me, and it had to come to this to prove to him that I had spoken the truth to him. With Trina rubbing in the pain with insult to me, I did everything in my power to remain silent, as I kept my head down, squeezing my eyes tightly together, while my heart felt like it was breaking into a million little pieces with her words unfortunately holding truth to them. With each hurtful word said from her, he remained in denial that Trina could be the one behind all of this, as he indicates that someone had to be tainting her mind, but to me it was more than clear that she was the one that had orchestrated all of this. What I couldn’t believe even after she admitted to him that she was the one responsible for the deaths of his parents, that he would continue to think that her mind was poisoned to make her do
Gunner’s POV “I’m sorry.” Softly whispered from Mila’s lips, as she let go of me, and for a moment I thought that she had decided that she couldn’t remain my mate, but then she did the unthinkable by shifting into her wolf. Her wolf took off without a moment of hesitation down the mountainside towards the rogues’ camp, making me wonder what the hell she was thinking. It took me a second to process what was happening before I shifted into my wolf and raced after her, knowing that if she reached the rogues’ camp, she was as good as dead. Mila had a couple second head start on me, but I was sure that I would be able to catch her, but her wolf was faster than I had anticipated her to be. A little over halfway down the mountainside, my wolf let out a growl warning her to stop, but his growl had absolutely no effect on her, as she continued to race ahead, full speed towards the rogues’ camp. Realization now dawned on me what she was doing, a
