Chapter 8

Time passed until his eyes landed on a piece of paper I had left on the coffee table.

Sven took the paper, glanced at it, and burst out laughing. His shoulders shook, and tears streamed from the corners of his eyes.

It was my prenatal check-up report.

Sven and I did have some sweet moments after we got married.

Once, he had gone to a disaster site to help with earthquake relief efforts. While rescuing someone, he fell from a high place. In the end, he fractured his leg and had to stay in bed for three months.

During those three months, I had taken care of him meticulously.

He was a picky eater and disliked vegetables, so I had made him special meals to ensure he got the right nutrition. Eventually, he was spoiled by my cooking.

Last year on my birthday, he had set off fireworks for me. As the fireworks burst across the night sky, they lit up the best time in our relationship.

I had been captivated by Sven's chiseled features and boldly kissed him.
