S2| 23. Adam's Cry

Adam sat by the window. His sad gaze was fixed on the outside. The snow had fallen more heavily. If only he and Amber were still at home, they would be sitting together, sharing a blanket over a cup of hot tea. But in reality, there was no other chair beside him. There were no stories or laughter to spoil his ears.

Unknowingly, tears began to block Adam's view. Before the grief got out of hand, Nick's voice snapped him out of the thoughts. “Boss, are you crying?”

Adam spontaneously blinked and straightened his back. Furrowing his brows, he shook his head. "No."

"Yes, you're crying," the man who was leaning over his boss's eyes said. After placing two cups of coffee on the windowsill, he pulled a chair and sat down beside Adam. “Where did your wife go, Boss? You must be thinking about her."
