Chapter 5

“I… It was an accident, I didn't mean to… I was just…” Naomi tried to explain, but words didn't come out.

The doctor's eyes narrowed as he stared at her, “You're bleeding.” He observed and moved closer to her. Out of habit, she flinched, raised her hands to shield herself from the hit she thought was coming.

“I'm not going to hit you, I just want to check your head.” He said softly, after he was done, he moved away from her.

“You're wounded, you have to get yourself treated.”

“B… but I don't have any money. I also have nothing to offer you. I…” She was about to speak but was cut off by the doctor.

"Miss Naomi… Come with me!" Doctor Zade stumbled over his words. His eyes were filled with nothing but empathy for her.

"I should come with you? Why? Since the moment that you treated me at the hospital, I've been aware of the way that you've been watching me. Why do you want to be of assistance to me when you don't even know me?" Naomi aimed her attention squarely at him.

Naomi was lucky. She has discovered someone who is willing to assist her, but with everything that has happened, was it ever possible to trust anyone again? Or does he intend to take advantage of her as well?

"Miss Naomi, I don't want you to have the wrong impression. A bruised person such as yourself serves no purpose in my life. Is it inappropriate for me to wish to assist you? You are the one who, as far as I am concerned, is in need of assistance, and it is up to you to take my hand, you can also reject my help." Zade shrugged.

His statements were direct and unyielding, yet at the same time, he welcomed her and is making an effort to protect her.

Naomi's stomach gave another grumble, which caused her to halt whatever it was that she was going to say.

"Miss Naomi, if you would follow me, I promise that I won't harm you in any way. You might not trust me now, but I might be your only chance.” After opening the door to the passenger seat, Zade moved to the side of the vehicle and waited for her to make a decision.

He gave her the option of going with him or staying behind.

The options available to Naomi were limited. It was probable that she would starve to death if she did not follow him. She also couldn't go back to her adopted parents house.

Even if she looks for work, no one will want to hire someone like her, therefore there is no use in her even trying.

After making her choice, Naomi got into the car. He was very careful when he shut the door, fully aware that she might have a sensitivity to sudden or loud noises.

After a few moments, he sped off, and they were left behind with nothing but a cloud of dust.

The house, which is found on an isolated estate, was not merely a house but rather more of a mansion than anything else. It seems to be even larger than the mansion that the Bryans live in.

"Come with me." Zade said to Naomi. She climbed the stairs with him and followed him into the hallway.

Crystal chandeliers were strung from the ceilings, and their brilliant light illuminated the passageways below. Naomi had never seen anything like that.

Naomi had neither the time nor the ability to fully appreciate items like this at the Bryan home; nevertheless, she was able to do so now that she has a calm mind, she did not feel any fear in his house.

"You'll stay here in the meantime, and I hope the room is okay for you." Zade came to a halt in front of the room.

Even though it was at the very end of the passageway, it had the most light coming into it.

Naomi opened the door to the room with shaking hands and uttered an audible gasp as she took in the room's opulence for the first time.

"Um… Sir… Are you sure you want me to stay here?”

"You don't like it?" Zade pursed his lips thoughtfully.

"It's not the nicest room in the house, but since it's situated in a quiet area, I felt it could be okay for you to stay there. If you don't like it, we can move on to the next room if that's what you want." Zade did not realise what Naomi meant by her words.

"N… No. I mean, I can sleep in the basement. This place is too nice for me to sleep in." Naomi began to panic.

What if he tried to take advantage of her while she stays here? Why was he providing her with such a luxurious space if he doesn't want anything from her?

Zade let out a long sigh as he saw Naomi trembling. It was going to be exceedingly challenging to provide care for a patient like her. It is going to take a lot of time for her to get better.

"Miss Naomi… Look at me." Although he got rather close to Naomi, Zade refrained from touching her.

"Miss Naomi, please look at me and concentrate on what I am saying. This is the room in this house that is in the worst condition of all of them. It's not possible for me to let you stay in my basement.

"That… After that, I'll be able to rest in a..."

"Miss Naomi, I will let you know as soon as possible if I am able to secure a smaller home for you to stay in, but in the meantime, just stay here, okay?" Zade gestured towards the room.

"You can take a shower while I prepare dinner. I trust you will be able to navigate your way around the room."

Even after he gave her the go ahead, Naomi was still trembling violently. She forcefully swallowed the words she was about to say next.

“Wash up, and then head down to the dinning room for some food. You can always give me a call if you have any questions or concerns."

Naomi closed the door to the big room with caution and then carefully positioned her polyester nylon sleeping bag on the king sized bed.

This was a bed that she had given up hope of ever seeing again in her lifetime.

Her heart overflowed with thankfulness and delight, yet the question remained: could she trust him? Was it reasonable to put all of her faith in the doctor? Despite the fact that they have never met, he was eager to be of assistance to her.

Naomi carefully loosened the straps of her torn dress, but before her clothes completely fell to the floor, Zade knocked on the door.

"Sir?” Naomi called out tentatively. Naomi hurriedly put on her clothes once again and grimaced in pain as her hands brushed along her wounds as she did so.

"Just call me Zade. I'm sorry to bother you, but I just recalled that you were hurt, and it's important that you don't get your wounds wet. In addition to that, I brought a first aid kit with me. Do you want me to assist you in cleaning it, or would you rather do it on your own?" Zade extended his hand and handed Naomi the white box.

He was very careful not to touch her in any way, not even her fingertips.

"I should avoid getting any moisture on my wounds.”

"Yes. Bacteria have the potential to grow on the surface of a wound that is wet. It is important to keep soaps and other chemicals away from any wounds you may have. It is strongly recommended that you simply wipe yourself down with a fresh cloth. I also brought you some clothes, you can wear them.”

Naomi took the clothes that Zade had given her without speaking.

"I'm leaving. If there is anything that you require, please do not hesitate to contact me.” Zade smiled at her before finally leaving. He walked directly to his room and closed the doors. It was dark, the only form of light was the dim table lamp.

He picked his phone and dialled a number. It rang just twice before someone picked it up. Immediately, Zade’s voice went deeper and lower, it sounded more dangerous than the calm voice he was using to speak to Naomi.

“Yeah?” A playful voice came from the other side.

“Where's your older brother?” Zade questioned, sitting on his chair and leaning back, revealing tattoos that were drawn on his upper arm.

“He's not in now, is there something you need?” The person asked.

“Well… Tell your brother that I have good news. I finally found her, she's with me.” Zade informed the other person on the line and then there was a clattering of stuff, and then some cursing.

After it had calmed down, the person asked, “A… Are you serious? You're not joking, right?”

“Yes, I'm not. I've found her, the sister that you've been looking for.”
