“Sophia loves reading novels—romance novels—but just like what I said, she is actually dense and almost oblivious with the men around her. It would seem that she is more fixated with the idea of what she reads rather than real men, but, of course, I can’t say that she has not had a real boyfriend ever…”
Navier looks at his coffee then to Miss Librarian again, still unsure of what to say. This is the very first real time that she encountered a woman who is as authoritative and as intimidating as his older sister Nicole. Plus, he really feels like he just met Sophia’s older sister and that she does not approve of him in an instant.
Sophia could not help but to laugh at Navier as he told her his encounter with Miss Minchin. He was telling her how he first wanted to surprise her, but then got lost for all the most random reasons. First was that he did not know where her department was. The solutions were so funnily obvious that he did not think of any of them. One, he could have looked into the huge university map available in the parking lot, literally in front of the space where he parked his car. Second, he could have asked anyone or could have called his uncle AKA her department dean. Another reason was that out of all the things he could do, it was to approach anyone who merely mentioned her name; hence, meeting Miss Minchin by accident.
Sophia forgot to tell Navier about her task with guiding and assisting Lindon Williams. It slipped out of her mind and now she is making a mental note to call him about this. She knows that she does not need—and Navier is not requiring her—to tell him everything that she must do at school, but it is her own decision to inform him about this. Lindon is still a man, and Navier is the best example of not being the calmest around other men. After excusing themselves to Cleo, she and Lindon went on their way. She plans to tour him in their department area first, then they can move on to other areas of the whole university. She still cannot move on from the fact that she ran for her life to not be late, but she now rea
Navier has been trying to call Sophia for the tenth time now, but she is still not answering any of his calls. Is she this busy? He already double-checked her schedule and it clearly says that her lunch break should be at this hour. She is not even answering any of his text messages.“What’s with that sigh, baby bro? Is the world ending?”He did not even notice that Nicole, his big sister, is already in his office. “Hey, sis. Aren’t you supposed to go out with Sage today for lunch? Why are you still here?”
“Come on, Sophia! Please, please, please! I promise I will pay your lunch for the next week or two! Please, Sophia, say yes!”Sophia is suddenly on all alert when Cleo literally just offered her that. Free lunch for the next week or two will save her a lot of money. The offer is very tempting but…“Please, Sophia! Make it three weeks!”Just holy guacamole! “O-Okay! Okay! Three weeks,
When Miss Minchin insisted that Sophia should go home to be able to call Navier as soon as she can, she knew that somehow, someway, something is about to happen—and she will not necessarily like it. She did go home earlier and immediately charged her phone. She must talk to Navier before she goes to the club. All the bad feelings she had came to reality when she finally opened her cellphone, she was bombarded with all the notifications from Navier—from missed calls to text messages. She facepalms and breathes deeply. She needs to get all through these one by one, before she can even think about calling him.
“I wouldn’t go inside anymore, but you already have my permission to go in and the passcode to his unit. Everything’s going to be fine, Sophia. Call me if you need anything, okay?”Sophia can only nod and bid goodbye to Nicole. Nicole was supposed to come with her and “kick Navier’s ass”, but an emergency call came where she was needed immediately. Breathing deeply and hugging herself, the cold night breeze is already making her shiver. All that is left for her to do now and enter this very building and see Navier.Like what Nicole
Sophia never really pictured how her first kiss will be. She knew she would have hers eventually, but she would not mind how she would have it or even to whom she would have it with. She read enough moments about first kisses and she just knew that those moments are just too unrealistic to have in real life… or so she thought.“I never asked anyone this question before, Sophia, but will you let me kiss you?”Perhaps another thing that she never pictured is Navier asking her this question. If there is anything she expected of Navier, she thought he would be the one who would simply go for it and will not ask for pe
Navier never knew that listening to reason was an easy thing to do as long as he is in his calm self. He never really liked hearing explanations and other reasons for what he already saw or found out, well at least except for his sister Nicole and his best friend Sage. Nevertheless, listening to Sophia really cleared everything to him.“I know I should have told you about this at some point, but I kept forgetting about it because it was not just a big matter to me. I was even actually thinking of him as one of my clients at the club, which brings me to my reason why I was not able to answer any of your calls or your messages…”
