Chapter 6

That night, Mom and I got ourselves a hotel room.

I called the landlord of that rental apartment and ended the rental agreement with her, telling her that I wasn't going to pay the rent anymore. She immediately said she would change the locks tomorrow.

Once we put away our things, Mom and I went to a nearby diner and ordered tons of food. It had been ages since I last ate at such a humble restaurant. In the past, whenever I ate with Harrison, he would always scoff at diners for being too cheap and ordinary. No matter how much I pleaded with him, he refused to stoop so low as to dine at one.

In reality, he only earned a few thousand dollars a month. If not for the financial support I gave him, he would've run out of money ages ago.

When I thought of how I'd foolishly made all the sacrifices for Harrison, only to have him hurt me without a care in the world, I felt like strangling myself. With my sadness egging me on, I scarfed down all the food before me.
