Chapter Sixteen

Avyanna Elyse

The light of rising sun led to my eyes, agad naman akong nagising dahil don.

“It’s already day na?” I whispered while trying to stand up when Rigel pulled me back, now  hugging me tight.

“Don’t, stay here,” he said still sleeping.

I just smiled and looked at every part of his face.

“What are you thinking?” biglang tanong nito, na naka pikit parin ang mga mata.

“You finally did it, you’re now a pilot, just like what you always dreamed about,” I said smiling.

“What’s bothering you then?”  now opening his eyes.

“Nothing, it’s just that maybe you’ll wouldn’t go home parati na, or worse you’ll fall for a flight attendant there,” I said hiding my face  to his chest, when I heard him laughed.

“Well then, you want me to cover up my eyes and face to be  unseen?” he said, mocking me.

“Eh, gago ka pala eh,” I said and tried to get up pero niyakap ako nito.

“Don’t worry, Isa lang naman ang mahal ko, at ikaw yon never think of something that  true and could break you apart, don’t worry di ako a-alis hanggang di ko naayos ang company natin,” he said and kissed me on my forehead.

A year had passed by and the more na malapit na akong makatapos the more na pahirap na pahirap, and next month will be our bar examination.

“Hey, how’s your day?” agad na salubong sa’kin ni Rigel habang naka harap sa laptop niya, still managing the C & G, he  changed his mind being a pilot, I tried to persuade him to be one but he said it’s better kung maging businessman nalamang siya.

“Awful, next month na bar examination namin, feeling ko agad ba-bagsak nako nito,” I said hopelessly sitting besides him.

“Tsk, you and your imagination, take a bath and study, I’ll call you once dinner is ready,” he said pointing a t my room.

“Yeah yeah, but you still treat me as a kid, Rigel geez,”

It’s been One and a half month na ganto ang gawain ko, after law school diretso kwarto for review, while Rigel always do the cooking cleaning and everything, I wanted to help him but he doesn’t want me to.

“Please remind me why I chose to be an attorney?” I said entering my room, sighing.

“Ahhh!!! Ayoko na! Nakakapagod na!” I shouted, malapitan ko pang itapon ang laptop ko, good thing I calmed myself.

“Hey, what happened?” Agad na pumasok si Rigel sa kwarto ko, na may apron pa suot suot.

“Im exhausted, I’m done,” I said pushing away the table.

When Rigel sat besides me patting my head.

“Isang bwan nalang a-antayin mo magiging

abogado

ka na, tapos ngayon ka pa bibigay? C’mon Avy, kaya mo yan, you love the thrill right?” he said and my eyes widened when I remembered something.

“Nako, nako alam ko na yan, oo na umalis

ka na gagawin ko na may ni-luluto

ka pa diba? Sige bye!” I said while pushing him out.

Malapit nako don ah,  baka anong kababalaghan gawin non marami pa’kong ga-gawin.

“Where here, are you ready?” Rigel said habang Ina-alalayan akong bumaba sa kotse.

“Yup,” matapang na sagot ko, now is the day that I’ve been waiting for, Bar exam.

“Do your best, Attorney Gonzales,” he said and kissed me on my forehead.

I was about to enter the campus when my phone ringed.

“Oh, kaya ko na, don’t worry I’ll be passing this R—,”

“Oy, Avy, bar examination nyo na ngayon! Ayosin mo kasi dito kahapon pa natapos! Alam ko kaya mo yan! Sige bye Attorney!!” agad akong napatigil sa pag salita ng marinig ko ang boses ni Kit, di man lang ako pinasalita.

Kit didn’t followed me like what he said before, he continued to study there sa States at di naman lang umuwi dito sa pinas.

“Rigel,” I called him, when my University sent an email to me, at alam ko na kung anong sa-sabihin don, it’s either pass or fail.

“Yes? What is it Avy?” he replied in his low tone, like always.

“Yong results, andito na,” I said making him look at me, sa face reaction niya halatang kinakabahan din.

“Let’s see the results then,” agad itong tumayo at agad lumipat sa tabi ko.

Ngayon pareho kaming naka ti-tig sa laptop ko, nag dalawang isip kung bu-buksan ko ba o hindi.

“C’mon relax, kung ano man ang results, it’s alright, if passed great if you fail, then you take another exam,” he said holding my hand.

“Wow, salamat sa sinabi mo ah, mas kinakabahan ako, pwede naman siguro si-nugar coat mo konti noh?” I said, now he’s  laughing.

“Open it already,” he said at agad ko naman tinakpan ang mga mata ko.

“Passed ba?” I asked, still covering my eyes.

“Wait, I’m searching for your name, ohh shit,” mas kinabahan ako ng marinig kong napa mura si Rigel.

“Sabihin mo na kasi,” I said slowly opening my eyes habang binubuka ng kaunti ang aking mga daliri para maka kita.

“You passed,” Rigel said, smiling.

“Ah, s-shit R-rigel, harder,” I bit my lips out of pleasure, devouring the enthusiastic feeling while thrusting me fast.

“A-ah!” I screamed ng sinusunod niya talaga  sinabi ko!

Agad niya akong binaba matapos ang isa pang pasok sa loob ko at agad akong binitawan, halos nanlambot ang tuhod ko, Pano ba mismong bathtub pa naman ako dinala ni Rigel.

“Let’s sleep, tomorrow’s your first day,” he said and kissed me on the forehead before turning off the lights.

“Avy, Avyanna hey, wake up, you don’t want to be late right?” agad akong nagising nang narinig ko ang boses ni Rigel.

“Ah, yeah, Good morning, Rigel,” I said and kissed him on his lips at agad nang tumakbo sa banyo para maligo.

Now it’s first day being an attorney, luckily  2 law firms sent me an email na gusto nila na doon ako mag trabaho, but in the end I let Rigel choose.

“Hi! Are you perhaps to be Avyanna?” a girl at my age said, it looks like it’her first day also.

“Uhh, yes, but sorry, but do I know you?” I asked she smiled before answering.

“Nako, di mo lang alam pero halos araw araw kitang nakikita sa University, block mate moko, by the way, I’m Lula Stefon,” she said and giggled.

“Ahh? Seryoso? Sorry ah di ko naalala mga block mates ko eh, I’not really into friendship back then,” I said and smiled.

“Alam ko yon, buti nalang dito ka rin, open for friendship ka naman ngayon diba?” She answered.

“Oo naman, attorney ka din dito?” I asked.

“Yep, ikaw?”  sagot nito habang sumusunod na nag lalakad kami.

“Oo, but I think we’ll be in a separate fields, criminal defense  attorney ako,” I answered and she just let a big sigh out.

“Oh well, I bet I’ll be facing this alone, akala ko pa naman samae tayo,”

“Same lang naman tayo ah,” I giggled and saw her looked at me.

“Were both serving justice,” I said and saw her giggled also.

“Sige, una nako don pa ako pupunta eh, bye Avy!” she waved her hands and left.

“I’m home,” I said after opening the door.

“How’s your first day?” he asked, parati naman.

“Fun but tiring, first day palang

“Wow, that’s pretty hard,” Rigel commented slightly laughing.

“It’s alright, you’ll get the hang of it, I’m sure, now kain na,” he said and pulled my hand.

“Ano

kakainin?” I asked seeing the table clean maski isang plato wala.

“Ako,” he said and grinned.

As my heels touches the floor creating a sound,  walking fast towards the court holding the evidence, agad kong nakita na dagsa ang buong court room.

Holy shit, bat ang dami ng tao.

I take a deep breath before entering and saw Lula on the other side.

I quickly sat and reviewed my case.

Since my client is the suspect for killing his mother, I’m sure that everyone would say that it’s parricide since they’ve been yelling that my client or Kurt killed her own mother.

As always we started opening arguments, they presented evidence and I would say that Lula is quite a  tough opponent.

“I would like to call Mrs.Santos to be on the witness stand,” Lula said calling the superales’s  neighbor.

Before asking her for further questions she solemnly swore to tell the truth, and she’ll say the truth and nothing but the truth.

“State your name,” the clerk ask while typing on the computer.

“Ledezma,  Santos,” she replied.

“What’s your relationship to the accused?” sunod na tanong ng clerk.

“Kaibigan ako ng namayapang si Marites, ang Ina ni Kurt, at kapitbahay ako nila,” he replied again.

After answering them all, I was the one walked up and now’s turn to ask her.

“Mabait at matalinong bata si Kurt, at alam ko sa loob

looban ko na hindi niya kayang

patayin ang sariling Ina, dahil Isa ako sa mga taong

nasubaybayan siya sa pag laki,” she said answering Lula’s questions.

After that I stood up again.

“Where were you when the accident happened?” i asked, and saw her reaction change.

“Nasa labas ako ng bahay nila non,” she replied again, now I just got a hunch that there’s something she’s playing safe with.

Anong ginawagawa mo don?” i asked again.

But this time she didn’t answer.

“Anong ginawa mo sa labas ng bahay ng kapitbahay mo? Chismis? May hinintay

ka? Or may ginawa

ka?” I asked when I saw Lula stand up.

“OBJECTION YOUR HONOR!” she shouted.

“The Defense is trying to yield a serious allegation that has nothing to do with the case!” Lula said, but I grinned secretly.

“Your Honor, it will magnify something relevant,” I simply said while straightly looking at the judge.

“Objection Overruled, Now, witness answer the question, Continue, ” the judge said, making me smile and bowed a little.

“Thankyou, Your Honor,” I said and looked back at Mrs.Santos.

“Since nasa labas

“Anong ginawa mo sa labas ng bahay ng kapitbahay mo? Chismis? May hinintay

ka? Or may ginawa

ka?” I said again but she didn’t replied.

“Mrs.Santos?” I said.

“Hindi ko alam! lahat nangyari pero sa huli nakita ko si Kurt na tumatakbo

palabas ng bahay, dugoan!” She shouted, panicking making me smile a little.

“What you just said is a serious allegation, are you sure that it was right and can prove it?” I said.

“O-oo,” she replied.

“That’s all, your Honor,” I said and took my seat.

This is quite a game changer, buti nalang naisip ko yon!

“At the end of the trial Kurt or my client, got a verdict of not guilty and now acquitted, he was totally innocent, and now Mrs.Santos is now apprehend, by killing Mrs.Superales, she killed her because she wants to take Mrs.Superales husband from her, and killed her, now pointing that Kurt killed hes own mother, she’s kinda brave to stand as witness when she knew she was the true criminal,” I said, I told everything to Rigel while we’re watching  movie.

“I know,” he replied.

“Huh? Alam mo? Eh bat ka nag papa-kwento? T’ska paano?” I asked and looked at him, now smiling.

“I was there, and I’m proud of you,” he said and kissed me on the lips.
