Prologue

PROLOGUE

“Get out! You sl*t! I will never let you step in my house!” He shouted right in front of my face.

My hands are shaking while packing my clothes. I was caught off guard when he grab my arms and almost throw me outside. My tears are flowing nonstop. I never imagined that this day will come, I never imagined that he will eventually hurt me like this. This is out of my fantasy, maybe I always fantasized about the image of him hugging me tight and saying I love you every morning. I always imagine myself being kissed by him and I forgot that he will never love me.

All this time, I thought we were something. I thought he already loved me. I'm just assuming things, now he's in front of me, mad at me. I can't stand seeing myself treated like trash, I stand up and gather some strength to finally left our home. I consider myself his wife the moment I married him, but it felts like he never treated me the way he should treat his wife.

I touch my tummy, Baby it's alright we can live without your father. I've gone enough, he's being too much. I'm sorry but I did my best, I'm already tired of chasing after him.

In the present.

“Clear!” The doctor announced as he tried to survive the heartbeat of my father. My mommy is beside me, she's crying the whole night. I can't contain the sadness I'm feeling right now. I needed to be strong, I need to pretend that everything will be okay which is impossible.

I cover my mouth using my hand when we heard that his heart beat finally back. Thank God, my mom is hugging me right now. At least, God gave us another chance to be with my Dad. We immediately left the emergency room as the nurse tried to transfer my Dad into the regular room.

“Your Dad is recovering, the only problem we have is the hospital bills. We are here for a month now, I don't know how can we pay the bills.” My Mom states. I immediately tell her that I will do my best to find money to pay our hospital bills.

“For now, let's just worry about my Dad's condition,” I said as if I wasn't anxious about the hospital bills. My Mommy smiled at me while nodding.

I left the room of my Dad and seek for help, I don't know who was going to ask for help. I don't have many friends since they don't like me. I only have two best friendswharess Kally and Rehan. They are busy, I don't want to interrupt them.

While walking along the street here in Los Angeles, I saw a fancy car. I can't deny the fact that I once dream of having this kind of car. I daydream of having a rich handsome husband who's going to treat me like a Queen, since all my life I never experienced having my phone. In short, we're only living a simple life. We aren't capable of buying our own space. My parents and I were just staying in a small apartment, sometimes the landlady always yells outside our apartment, reminding us to pay our bills. And this happens.

I kick the empty can and I was in horror when it hits the formal guy. He's wearing a tuxedo and formal black pants. I was about to run and pretend that I didn't do it but he immediately grab my arms.

“Where do you think you're going?” He asked coldly. The hell, how can I run from him? I cover my face so that if my plan is successful he will never see me again.

I bite his fingers and he immediately let go of me. He shouted in an unfamiliar language, it felts like he was cursing in an alien language. I immediately run for my life. I run as fast as I can.

When I felt like I was no longer chased by that guy, I lean on a wall and relax. God, why are all of these happening so suddenly?

I almost jumped on my feet when I was in a corner by a guy I met earlier. He's leaning closer to me, he smells so nice, it's a mix of mint and smoke. So all this time he's smoking? He's hella stunning! He's so handsome with his thick eyebrows and pointed nose.

I must say that he's freaking rich by the watch on his wrist and the way his tuxedo perfectly suits his body. He leans closer to me and smells the side of my lips. My heart is beating so fast.

“You will regret that you bite me, lady.” He said. I don't know what I'm going to say right at this moment. I stilled when he touches my brown-blonde wavy hair, he removed the hair that covers my face and put those at the back of my ears.

“Say sorry to me. Maybe, I will forget what you've done.” He said with a cold voice. I shiver at his manly voice.

“No, you scared me earlier,” I said trying to contain the stutter in my voice. He smirked and eventually back in his cold straight face. Is he bipolar?

“Really? Brave woman. I gave you a chance but you waste it. Now, you will face the biggest punishment that I will ever do to you.” I felt my heart sing when I heard his words.

I know he's a powerful man, by the way, he dresses and speaks. I don't know what's going foon, or why I have to experience these heavy challenges in my life. I just needed to seek help. I don't plan to hit a guy by kicking an empty can across the stress, I never plan to be caught by him, I never planned to bite him. It's just a mere self-defense, I don't want to be abused in the middle of the night so I protect myself at all costs.

Then all of a sudden, I needed to be punished.

“Marry me.” That was the most awful two words I've ever heard from a stranger man.
