Chapter 4

I grab his hand and brought him into the garden. I set up our dinner there and he didn't expect what I'd done. He remained silent and just stared at my setup. He looks so mad and left me there. I was confused by his reaction.

What is wrong? I just thought it would be made him happy. He's confusing. Patience, Mallory. You will eventually get to know him more, just understand him. I'm on the verge of crying but I didn't let myself. I fear rejection but one thing learned from it, you have to accept that things aren't for you.

I just stayed in my room. Tomorrow is another day, I will have a good day tomorrow.

I woke up from the knock in my room, Tessa brought a paper bag containcontainingform as a secretary. I jump in bliss and hug Tessa. Finally, I've got a job. This is my dream.

I was scared when I step my feet in the floor of Canon's company. I didn't see him this morning so I assume that he came to his work early than usual. I can't stand how rude he is, but I don't have any choice but to endure all the things he might do in the future.

The front desk ask my name and I was confused about what surname would I be using. I choose Mallory Evans instead, I don't want other employees to treat me nicely just because I'm married to Canon. I want to gain genuine friends. I know Canon doesn't want to let otothersnow about our marriage.

She told me that I needed to meet Canon on the 13th floor. I rode an elevator and I met a guy who came rushing beside me.

“That was close.” He said in relief. I was shocked at how handsome he is. He looks like a supermodel from a certain clothing brand. He's breathtakingly handsome, but Canon is more handsome after all. I shook my head in annoyance at the thought of having Canon on my mind.

“Hi. I'm Elvis Stark, new here?” He asks nicely. I smiled sweetly and reach for his hand.

“I'm Mallory Evans. Yes, this is my first day.” His eyes widen in shock and he quickly smiled at me. He welcome me into their workplace, he's one of the stockholders in this company, and he has a larger share compared to others so he has a high position in this company.

He will also come to Canon's office since he wanted to tell something to him. We shared random topics while waiting. We reached the 13th floor and I let him talk to Canon first. I also informed Elvis that I'm the new secretary of Canon. He was confused at first since he knew Canon as someone who doesn't like to have a secretary. He doesn't trust anyone, according to Elvis.

I smiled quickly when I heard the door open and close, Elvis was already done talking with Canon.

“See you around!” He said. I said the same thing and I sighed before reaching the door of Canon's office. I held the doorknob and silently open it. I saw Canon looking so busy, he was wearing eyeglasses which suits him so much. He's just wearing his white sleeves which fit him, it reveals how flexible his biceps is. I can't take my eyes off him. He looks so dashing right now. I can't believe he is my husband.

“Stop staring.” He said coldly. There I was back in reality and realized how rude he is. Yes, he's my husband but in the papers only. I came across his table and sit in front of him. He didn't bother to look at me. He's just signing the tons of papers in front of him while reading something on his laptop.

“What should I do first, Mr. Stutter?” I said professionally. He stilled and look at me intently. I felt my heart beat fast by the way he looks at me. I felt the butterflies in my stomach.

“What's with the Mr. Stutter?” He asked annoyingly.

“I just thought that your employees might know what is our relationship if I called you by your first name.” He looks at me as if he's examining my face. I touched my face and check if there was any dirt. He shook his head and looked away.

“Sure thing. Make a brewed coffee for me. Less sugar.” He said. I immediately stand up and cheerfully bowed my head.

“Got it!” I said excitedly. He look at me as if he was confused by the retired lady in front of me. I just left his office and make him a coffee. I saw a beautiful woman come to Canon's office right after I left. Is she his girlfriend? She must be lucky. Maybe he wasn't rude to her.

I felt a little sad at the thought that maybe they were doing something nasty inside his office. I'm his wife and yet he's cheating in front of me. I can't blame him. He just needed me for his benefit and he just paid me to act as his wife. I don't have a right to be mad at him and accused him of cheating on me.

I was back in reality when I felt the hot water spilled in my hands. I'm on the verge of crying, it's so painful. I immediately cover it with a cloth and came rushing to Canon's office. It took me so long to prepare his coffee, he might be so mad at me right now.

I knock on his door and I heard him say, get in. I was nervous when I found him looking irritated at me.

“What took you so long?” He asked coldly. I can't answer it so I just hand him the coffee. He immediately saw my hand covered with a piece of cloth. My eyes widen in fear when I saw how his face turned darkly. I'm shaking at the thought of him scolding me.

“What the hell.” He said so madly.
