Chapter 9

I felt awkward when I realized what I have done last night. I had some guts to stare at him while sleeping when in fact he's rude when he's awake! What the hell is wrong with my eyes?

I saw Canon eating some breakfast and I immediately sat in front of him silently. I only heard our spoons and pork hitting our plates while eating, we didn't speak any words to each other. I hate this silence.

I was about to greet him a good morning but he stood up and left me there alone. He also signals that we're going to work already so I immediately ready myself. AThroughoutour the ride heading to the office, none of us speak a word. We just listen to music and felt the breathing of each other. I don't know if he's acting the usual since he's always silent, second if he knew that it's awkward for me as if he does care about what I feel or he hates how annoying I am. The latter is the most accurate though.

We finally reached the office and I headed first so that no one can see us together. I received a call while heading to my own office, it was Rehan my guy best friend.

“What's up?” I asked in a cool tone.

“You've been missing in action for months now and you'll answer my 150th call “What's up?” I laughed at the tone of his voice. He's really worried so guess I can just joke around.

“Sorry, these past few weeks were a tough bumpy ride for me. I couldn't catch up with you guys.” I said sincerely.

“You can at least ask for our help. We've been searching for you, Kally is very worried about you.” He said in a sad tone. I know how much he likes Kally but he always denied it to himself, He always makes himself believe that he likes me when in fact he's head over heels for Kally. These poor were supposed to be a couple.

“Okay, I'll make it up with you. Let's meet at the nearest bar, bring Kally with you.” He agreed and I started working my ass off with these tons of papers.

I called all the listed companies that we needed to invite for our event this coming Monday. I'm in charge of the people who are exclusively invited to the said event. I'm also working on the organizers of the event, I have to meet up with them to discuss all the matters related to the event, even the shade of the palettes, and all the things that you will see in the event. I'm so exhausted since I've been facing the computer since morning.

I stretched my arms and tied my hair in a ponytail. I gasped when I met the familiar gaze of Canon. He's staring at me as if examining my whole existence. As if he's evaluating if am I deserving to be in this life. What the hell?

“Lunch.” He simply said as if inviting me for lunch. I shook my head as an answer no, his eyebrows immediately met each other. He looks so confused about why I refused his invitation.

“If you're worried about Elvis and Janice. I can deal with that alone.” He said with authority as if he was indirectly saying that he's the CEO of this Company after all. No one can go against his decisions. I gulped at thoughts of how attractive he is. His muscles flex with his movements. I can't deny the fact that I can't get my eyes off him. I'm just a human after all.

“Stop staring.” He said coldly. I shifted my gazed and arranged my stuff. I stood up and ignore him He followed me as I went to the elevator.

“I have a meeting with someone,” I said. I heard him grit his teeth.

“Listen, woman. May I remind you that you're already-” I cut him off by putting my index finger across his lips. His eyes widen while looking at my pouted lips. My face burning since I felt like I'm blushing. I immediately remove my finger from his lips and stood properly.

“I'm married. Yeah, I know that already. I needed to meet the organizers since you assigned me all the things I don't need to do as your secretary.” I said in sarcasm. He chuckled lightly. Damn, even his laugh sounds attractive.

“Damn, woman.” He said while smiling. I couldn't contain my smile at the thought that I made this ruthless man smile for a second. He's not that scary after all. The elevator reached the first floor and we headed outside, all the employees keep bowing their heads and greeting the CEO. I pretended that we aren't together so I headed first.

I was about to walk away when Canon grab my arm. He looks confused.

“Where are you going? Let's meet them together.” He grabbed my arm and bring me to his car. I'm confused, why did he want me to be with him? I can meet those people alone.

“They will feel pressured when they saw you. Just let me discuss with them, you don't have to show your presence to them.” I said.

“Only if they aren't a man.” He said coldly. I didn't get it. Why do they have to be a woman? And he will go with me if they are a man? What's wrong with him?

I saw the organizers and luckily they are a woman. Canon wait for me at the nearest table and I saw him look at me while talking to him. I felt awkward while discussing with them since he was only focusing on me. I look at his side and he's still staring at me. If I didn't know him I will assume that he's a stalker for Pete's sake.

The meeting ended and he went closer to me. He hold my hand and brought me to the unfamiliar corner of the restaurant.

“I book a VIP room for us. Let's eat lunch already, I'm tired of staring at you the whole two hours. Nevertheless, it's a beautiful view.” My heart beat so fast when he said those words. Please, don't fall.
