The Bond

I felt the bond snap into place as soon as Chase sank his teeth into my skin.

“There’s something else you need to know about this, though it’s a little late to go back now.”, he said, looking into my eyes before quickly looking away.

“What?”, I asked, feeling concern and what felt like guilt through our newly formed bond.

He looked away, running his hand through his hair.

“Just tell me, Chase. I can feel that something’s off.”, I said, grabbing his chin, pulling him to face me.

“I’m Lycan, Lyse.”

“Yeah, I know. And?”, I pressed.

“And me marking you is going to force a shift.”

“Ohh kay”, I said slowly, looking at him for some kind of clarification.

“You’ll become a hybrid with that shift, Lyse. You’ll become part Lycan.”, he said, the shock evident in my face, I was sure.

“What does that mean, Chase?”, I asked.

“Let’s get the piece of shit who tried to claim you as his back to the cells first, then we’ll talk.”
