...Tyler POV...
I am in Luke's house frantically looking for Jenna; he does not have a basement, and she's in none of the rooms. With every door I open and close, my heart sinks even more, but I am not about to give up; I have to find her; she must be here in this godforsaken town.
That is when I hear a scuffle in the kitchen; with my gun drawn, I slowly make it around the corner.
“What the fuck are you doing here?”
“Hello, Tyler.”
“Yes, Sarah. What the fuck are you doing here?”
“Just visiting an old friend.”
“Do not lie to me.”
“You know me well enough to know I am not lying.”
“Bullshit, you have always been a bad liar.”
“I was passing through, and I thought I would pop in to say hello.”
“You still a bad liar. It's convenient that you appear in town just as my wife disappears.”
“Don't tell me you already lost your wife?”
“Do not get clever with me; where is she?”
“You seem to misplace all the women in your life.”
“Cause you all fucking cheat on me.”
“And that includes Jenna.”
“No, it does not.”
“From what I can remember, she was all over my fiancé.”
“Your fiance is just as fucked up as you.”
“That is no way to talk about your brother.”
“Cut the bullshit; where is Jenna?”
“I really don't know where your god damn wife is. We have been here the whole day.”
“Bullshit, Luke was seen in the town today.”
Then the god damn asshole enters the kitchen with a stupid smirk on his face, “I see you have met my house guest.”
“I don't know if you can really call her a guest.”
“Is there anything I can help you with, Tyler, because you are trespassing in my house?”
“Where is Jenna?”
“Like I have told you and your lapdog there, I don't know.”
“Luke, I am going to find her, and when I do, you are dead.”
“You are not going to find her cause I don't have her.”
“You a real sick fuck.”
“If you finished insulting me, can you please leave my house?”
“I will be back for you, Luke.”
“I am counting on it.”
I really have no choice but to leave, but he did not say I must leave town.
As I head out the front door, I can hear him whisper to Sarah, “I told you to fucking stay hidden.”
“I wanted water since you left me with shit to drink out there.”
They must have Jenna close by if that bitch can walk from there to his house. All I can do now is park my car out of town and come back on foot and start searching the town.
“Tyler.”
“Nathan.”
“Sorry, man, he started to threaten me with my parole officer.”
“No, it's good, man.”
“Did you find anything?”
“Apart from my sister-in-law, not a thing.”
“Your sister-in-law?”
“Yes, the bitch is in Luke's house.”
“What is she doing here?”
“I don't know; it makes no sense.”
“I thought Clara would be involved?”
“No, it does not look like she is.”
“What now?”
“We start searching the town.”
“Fuck it's going to take us forever.”
“I don't care; I need to find my wife.”
…Jenna POV…
Luke has not been back since he tied me up earlier today. I have heard someone shuffling outside, though; it must be Clara.
I hear someone working at the lock, and the door opens.
“What happened to your face?”
“It ran into your husband.”
“Where is he?”
“I told him to leave, but we both know he ain't going to.”
“He will find me, even if he turns the town up and down.”
“That is why we are going to move you.”
“Who are we? Your lapdog Clara?”
Then in steps, the person that he has been speaking to the whole time, “No sweety, I have a lot more brains than that bitch.”
“Sarah, why the fuck are you here?”
“I can't have my revenge with the bitch that slept with my fiancé, but I can have with her husband.”
“Is Alex your fiance?”
“Yes, the very fiance that I kicked out for cheating on me.”
“You both are sick.”
“There is no way Tyler will take your ugly ass.”
“Who says I want to take your husband?”
“Alex won't be so stupid and take you back either.”
Then Luke interrupts, “As much as I like to watch women fight. We have to move you before lover boy comes back.”
“Luke, please stop doing this. This is not who you really are.”
“This is what you have turned me into.”
…Tyler POV…
We leave town and park my truck nearby, making it back by foot. I don't really have the authority to search this town, but I do not care. I need to find my wife, and I will do anything to do that. He used to be my friend, but all I want to do now is flatten his face. I know Jenna meant well to be a friend to him, and it is unfortunate the sexual part of it happened, but it has turned him into a monster. That crazed look is written all over his face; there is no soul behind those deep black eyes.
I need to find her before that crazed animal turns into more than than a monster. I know she is a fighter, but he is far stronger than what her tiny body is.
“Where do we start, Tyler?”
“Let's start at her old place. It is still standing empty.”
We head off to Jenna’s old place on the outskirts of the town. It has no basement, but we have to go through all those rooms. I have never liked this place, but I guess it is my fault that she ran here to get so far away from me.
“I will take it upstairs. You take down.”
We frantically go from room to room, opening every closet that we can. She is not here. I rush outside to the poolhouse. She is not here either.
“And now?”
“We work from inside to out.”
“What do we say to everyone?”
“Fuck I don’t know. Tell them their sheriff is crazy?”
“I doubt they will fall for that.”
“I think I have an idea.”
We start heading back to my truck just as Luke and his new attachment leave town.
“Do we follow them or search the rest of town before he gets back?”
“I don’t know if he would be so stupid to take her with us still in town, Nathan.”
“I’d say we follow him; we can always come back if we don’t find anything.”
When we go past the station, his car is standing there; it seems that he is not going anywhere after all. We get back to my truck, but instead of heading back to town, we head in the other direction.
“Where are we going, Tyler?”
“The sheriff in the next town down this road.”
“What are we going to do there?”
“I can get a search warrant there.”
We back on the road, and I cannot help but feel this overwhelming feeling of dread set over my body. I hope the asshole has not touched or hurt her. I should have never let her out of my sight.
…Jenna POV…
He has just stuck me in the back of his truck, and we off to somewhere else he is going to hide me at. I can hear him talk to Sarah, that is with him
“We will take her away once he is out of town.”
Tyler is still here in town, and he is looking for me.
...Tyler POV... We on our way to the Sheriff in the next town; they owe me a favor; I am hoping they can give me a search warrant for Luke’s town. As we drive away, I look back to see if that asshole leaves town on his way to Jenna, perhaps, but no such luck. For someone that has no common sense at the moment, he is surely keeping her hidden quite well. I will not rest today or tomorrow, or even the next days after that, until I find my wife. He will slip up, I am going to find her, and when I do, he is going to pay for it; I am not sure how or what, but he will regret the day he ever laid a hand on her. “Are you okay there, Tyler?” Nathan looks over at me, rather concerned. “I am going off my goddamn mind.” “We will find her.” “I am just scared that we might be too late.” “He wants her; he won’t hurt her.” “It’s what else he would do to her that worries me the most.” “Don’t think like that, man.” There
…Jenna POV…Being stuck in a hole in the ground makes you think, think about a lot of things. Especially the things that you could have done differently in your life. Regret is a big word, and to say that you regret something is even a bigger thing to say. In my little hole here, I am thinking of how I could have regretted something differently.Every bad reaction has an even worse chain reaction if you think about it this way if the lazy ass cat dies, who is going to kill the dirty annoying mouse. Same as for a relationship, if you break something that needs no fixing and looks for fixing somewhere else, you are bound the create a bigger problem than what you started with. You end up creating a monster. You end up with this bad reaction that your chain reaction caused.Luke that has been watching me intently, finally speaks, “What are you thinking so hard about gorgeous?”“Can I ask you a question?”
I am startled awake by a loud thud at the door, followed by the yanking of the chains. I hear the chain being dropped to the floor, not being locked again as always before; I can hear the district sound of something being dragged along the floorI am struck with fear; what has he come back for so early again tonightAs he turns the corner, I am horrified with the sight of what he has been dragging behind him.“Tyler!” I look at Luke look in horror, “What have you done to him?”“Relax, he is still alive.”“What did you do to him?” I ask Luke again“I had to knock his snooping ass out. What a lovely reunion this is going to be.”“I told you he would find me.”“Yes, he did but without backup. Both of you are stuck here now.”
God no!What do I do?That is a fucking stupid question.Get your shit off the fucking floor, Jenna, and save your husband.“Hey fuck head.” Luke turns to me as I call for his attention. “I suggest you drop that gun.”He bursts out in a rumble of laughter, “God, if this were not, so such a fucked up the mess, I would say that is fucken hot.”My body stiffens as I cringe at hearing his words, “You a sick fuck.”“What happened to monster?” His rumble becomes even scarier than before. But I am not about to back down, “Just drop the god damn gun.”“Baby,” he but only give me some wicked smile on his face. “By the time you get that safety off, I would have blown his brains all over the pole.”&n
Tyler has just taken a life, Luke’s crazy rampage has come to an end. His hand is wrapped around my shoulder as we walk back to his truck. Not a word is being spoken; how does something like this affect someone, how does taking a life affect your own. What is this going to do to the man next to me, the man that I love, the man that has just paid the ultimate sacrifice to save my life? A situation that was created by me that turned a friend into a monster.I am scared I lose Tyler, not him itself, but his mind; right now, he shows no feeling or remorse, will he, in time, start losing himself.I don’t know what to say to him, but I have to say something; the silence drives me insane. I need to know if he is okay if he is going to be okay, “Baby.”He briefly turns his head and looks at me, “Yes, baby.”Without trying to sound with too much desperation in my voice, I s
The drive to the ranch is quiet; Tyler has been staring out the window most of the time. I tried speaking, but it is like my words are falling on death ears. I can feel the heaviness hanging in the air, pain radiating from his body. Before we reach the city, I need to stop for gas, the very same gas station I have been stopping every time I make this trip. As I come to the store clerk to pay, he immediately recognizes my face. There is a slight smile filled with confusion playing in his eyes, “Don’t tell me your dream fell through again.” I look on over to the truck, and the attendant follows my eyed, “My dream is in that truck.” I pause for a moment and turn to look at the clerk again, “His body is there, but his mind is gone.” “Well,” he starts, and there is genuine concern in his voice, “Whatever happened, I am sure time will heal his wounds.” I only but give h
It's been two weeks; the nightmares are not getting any better; I don't see him at all during the days, I spent my nights awake watching over him and crying for him. It should be the happiest part of our marriage, but it's not; he is going through something awful that I can't even begin to understand.I need to talk to him. There is something I need to tell him.I find him out by the stables.“Hey, baby.” I hand him a cup of hot coffee.I reach out to give it to him, and I cannot help but noticed how his hands are shaking. “Thank you.” He only but mumbles from underneath his breath.I move a little bit close to him and sit down on the bench next to him, “Baby, we need to talk.”“Jenna, I am not in the mood for you telling me how you don't understand and how you want to help me.”
...Tyler POV…There is a lot that can happen in a split second that can change your life, that can change a man. You might think at the time it is the best thing to do but it can turn around and be your greatest regret.I thought I was walking into it as a man that wanted to save his wife but I walked out a ruined and broken man. A man that will never be the same.I play it off in my head over and over again. One second I am staring a crazed monster in the face then next he is on the floor. The second his lifeless body hit the floor my own life became lifeless.I cannot face Jenna, I don't know if it is because I feel ashamed or because I feel like a monster. This is the week that should be my honeymoon but I cannot be around her, I don't want to be around anyone at this moment or even in the near future. She is trying her best to be supportive and to understand but I am n
