Five

Jasmine's POV.

"Have you lost your mind?" Mr. Blackwood stared at me with bulging eyes flickering with various emotions that made me realize that he was going through a lot of internal turmoil–the most prominent: shock! He probably hadn't heard something like this in his life. I was glad to see him in such a confused state.

"It's a pleasure to see you stunned, Mr. Blackwood."

He pinched the bridge of his nose as he tried to gain momentum. "Let's just say that this is remotely true, why the hell will you proposition me?"

I smacked my lips cheekily, winking at him afterward. Men were often not accustomed to the fact that ladies were now taking charge of certain situations.

"How is that a problem, darling?"

He stared at me in shock and I couldn't help but burst into laughter. Pointing at his face with one finger, I smacked my second hand with the other. "My goodness, you make me laugh! You should see your face!" I laughed.

He crossed his arms over each other while shooting me a keen stare. He wanted to know what was running through my mind. "You see, Mr. Blackwood, I just love you so much that I want to be with you; surely, that's not too much to ask."

"Is that how much you love sex?" He responded, and that acted as a whiplash, wiping the smile off my face. "Because I know that you're only doing this to get back at my son. Surely you can't say that you want to get married to me because of one night of pleasure."

I grew angry at his dismissive tone.

"Mr. Blackwood, you weren't speaking in this manner last night."

"That was because I was only humoring you. I couldn't turn an eager lady away now, could I?"

Oh, shit! I was pissed! "I see what you're trying to do, but it won't work. Why don't you calm down and let's discuss like sane people?" I spoke, trying to ease the budding tension. We were soon going to snap like tight bands.

"I know that ladies of your ages might want money, which is not a problem, but this is..." He shook his head, unwilling to complete his thoughts.

A frown appeared on my face. He was deliberately insulting me to throw me off course. I sighed, allowing the tension to die off from my body. "You don't know me well enough, Mr. Blackwood. I am not after your money. I suggest that you take a seat so that you can see things from my perspective."

"No, you can leave. Send your account number via text and I'll credit you immediately."

That was such a polite way to call me a whore. Oh, I was so mad! "Damn you for thinking that I'm one of those girls that you take for a spin and gift them petty gifts afterward. Now, I am only telling you this, not because I love you or feel any connection to you."

"The main reason that this doesn't make any sense. I should have known that you were up to something when you acted that way last night. So what is this about? Humor me."

I kissed my teeth in anger; I had dealt with more aggressive people, yet nothing was able to change the way I saw things. "I see that you're angry, Mr. Backwood which is normal. But you aren't that noble if you ask me. If you were, you wouldn't be sniffing around your son's ex-fiancee now, would you? So don't preach about morals here when you have no ounce of..." I walked toward him and pretended to fall.

I held my toe, pretending to have missed my step. "What's this now? Are you trying to gather sympathy from me?" He asked carelessly and I rolled my eyes.

Seeing him this angry and coiled up one would think that he had no ounce of care in him. "Cut the macho act. You shouldn't do that with me. I know that you want to check what's wrong with me."

He rolled his eyes but didn't utter a word. I was getting somewhere. "So, let's say that this works, what would you tell the world?"

"That I love my ex-fiance's father. Is there anything bad in that?" I inquired and he looked around, obviously frustrated.

"You don't seem to understand the gravity of what you're doing." He spoke angrily.

"I don't think your son also did. Now, let's cut right to the chase because I don't want tempers to fly. I want to marry you, Mr. Blackwood."

He shook his head. "I can't do this man." He replied and I rose, taking a few steps toward him again. "Nah, don't come any closer."

I placed a palm on his chest, staring into his intense eyes, loving the rhythmic beat of his heart. "Do you feel something for me, Mr. Blackwood?"

"What?"

"Something, anything in particular?"

He yanked my hand away from his chest. "Get this into your head. Your proposal won't work. I'll find a way to send you money. You can leave." He answered rudely.

"Hmm. I didn't expect less from you. However, Mr. Blackwood, we are going to the altar together whether or not you like it." I answered confidently.

He scoffed at my brazenness. "Miss whatever, I don't care about you. It was a one-night stand; stop building castles in the air."

"Alright..."

"So..."

"I'm not leaving until we are done."

A flicker of annoyance appeared in his eyes but that made me even more excited. He had to know that I would get what I wanted without any stress of any kind. "Do you realize that..."

"Say no more, my love." I shut him up before smiling.

"That's it, I'm done with you. I'll call the security to see you out."

"They wouldn't dare." I retorted despite knowing that I couldn't go against him.

When I saw that he was resolute, I acted fast. "Are you aware that your son met up with Donovan?"
