The house was just as we left it.

It would have made work a lot easier for me if the person had broken in again and I had the opportunity to catch the person. I had no plans to waste my time here. I moved with purpose and direction, knowing exactly where I was going.

I didn’t have to ask Emily to know where it was. I could see it in how she avoided the door, how she never went into the room, hell, she hardly ever looked at it. It was like that part of the house did not exist to her.

I wondered if she knew that the room was just as she had left it. I never stepped into the house even when I bought it but from what I knew there was still stuff in it.

As expected, the door was locked but that was the least expected challenge. I opened it with a pin and it didn’t take me more than six seconds.

I wasn’t prepared for the sight before me. The room stood just as it must have been from the days Emily’s dad was still alive. There was a bed, a shelf, a book, and even down-to-shoes.
