Chapter 8 Trust Issues

Laura cursed Michael's cowardice. In her fury, she kicked me away. I watched her desert me, my mind in a buzz. Then, I looked at the surveillance camera, entrusting my hope to it.

I bought the camera when I first realized something was up with Michael and Laura. It was almost laughable that the first time it would be of use would be in the case of my murder. I watched it record the whole thing and eventually succumbed to darkness.

Then I woke up, much to my surprise. I heard a doctor asking me if I was fine and saw nurses changing my wound dressing. That was when I realized I was saved. Yes, there were burns, but they were minor.

I realized I couldn't see anything, so I thought I was blind again, but the doctor said it was just a side effect from smoke inhalation. I just needed to wrap some bandage around my head for a couple of days.

I realized I had survived, and then I remembered my would-be killers. Just then, the cops came over for investigation, and I was told they had been a
