"A Cruel Past" (part 2)

Chapter 5 

Isabella Pov

*CONTINUED FROM THE PAST*

My eyes stir open to a murmur of people's voices and a hospital smell reaches my nostrils the sound of machines beeping and ringing in my ears and everything fashes in front of my eyes.

With the accident and Sofia's painful cries, I sat up quickly at least I tried to, the sharp pain on my wrist made me groan I weakly stood up from the bed walked up to the mirror, and looked at myself and I couldn't recognize myself.

The bandage on my head and lips was pale almost white i was swallowed in a hospital gown and a scarf draped on my shoulders and I realized I was looking so broken. Why am I alone where are Sofia and my father?

Then the door burst open. I flinched and jumped, but it was a nurse. She looked at me with soft eyes and said, "You were supposed to be resting, dear. Why are you standing?"

"I opened my mouth to speak but I felt a little difficult I managed to let out."Where is my sister? And did my father come?" her lips pressed into a thin line "Your father just went on looking at your sister." My eyes lit up nothing happened to her.

That was just a nightmare she is okay maybe she has woken before me that's why Father is there."Dear, you should rest you are not healed properly you need to be strong for the news." My eyes narrowed what does she mean?

"What are talking about? She has woken up before that's why Dad is there to meet her right?" Her eyes turned into sympathy and she said when she realized what I was assuming. "Dear, I'm sorry to confuse you but your sister didn't make it, I'm sorry dear." 

She lowered her head a little I was just looking at her thinking maybe she'd take her cruel words back but she didn't a chocked sob came out from my lips and I felt tears running down my cheeks. "Where is she?"

The nurse patted my back consoling me "She is in room number 204 in this row but dear, you need to res--" I didn't her words I was already strolling towards the exit.

I needed to be there with my sister and I moved my gaze to the room's numbers and found 204, I saw an unexpected person sitting on the bench Alexander Morozov my sworn enemy sitting along with his father.

He looked up and his gaze locked onto mine, I ignored him and his father and entered my sister's room, and My father's soft cries reached my ears "Sofia, Please open your eyes and look at me, princess."

My heartache was like someone had stabbed me in my chest it felt very heavy. I slowly walked to her bed and looked at her pale blue face my shaky fingers rested on her cheek to believe this was all real. 

My father looked at me but I was looking only at her face tears blurred my vision, but I didn't look away and waited for her to wake up she didn't.

"Isabella" My father called my name softly he removed my fingers from her face. I looked up at his face, "This---Why is she not opening her eyes, Dad." I let out a sobbing voice he shook his head once saying she was no more. 

I was crying so hard that it was getting hard to breathe in the whole silent room only my cries could be heard she told me to not blame myself if something happened but how can't I? I should've saved her.

I held her cold hand while she looked like sleeping "Hey, Sofia wake up please you told me we would never leave each other you promised me you couldn't break your promise please wake up."

I begged her emotionless body and shook her but nothing worked "You have to stay please Sofia, don't leave me." I cried harder and my father pulled me back from her body listening to my crying Alexander and his father also entered inside but my gaze didn't falter from her body.

This is the last time I can see her touch her and if I look away she will disappear I don't want that. I can't lose her too after losing my mother I can't let her leave me too.

My father managed to get me outside while I couldn't stop crying and then everything turned pitch black and I fainted while I could see just my sister's blue pale face, I hope this didn't happen and I could be in a different place with my sister.

The machine beeping reaches my ears and I feel 'Deja vu' this has happened before, This time I'm not alone doctor comes into my eyes, and my father but the person I long to see doesn't. 

I sit up with difficulty my whole muscles screaming at me in pain but I ignore the throbbing pain and rest my back on the pillow behind me, Alexander comes into my view he is leaning his figure onto the door his ankles crossed together.

He didn't say anything nor console me as a common person would console but what could I expect from an egoistic bully, I looked away from him and looked at my father he smiled softly at me.

"How are you feeling now, princess?" tears filled my eyes i nodded and asked. "Where is Sofia, dad? Tell me whatever I saw was a nightmare my mind is playing tricks on me, please Dad."

My father's eyes flashed with pain "She is somewhere good princess, she's with your mother." I couldn't say anything just looked away and sniffle. 

The doctor came and greeted my father and Alexander and the nurse and Alexander's father entered along with the doctor. "Miss, Isabella are you feeling any kind of pain in your head." I shook my head while my head was screaming at me.

"Good, I prescribed some medicine and then you're free to go, Miss Isabella." my father nodded at his words and started asking questions like I'm safe and if I have an internal injury but the doctor said we don't need to worry about it.

I sighed and then Alexander's father said to my father, "Massimo, now we need to make preparations for Sofia's funeral." My head snapped towards him while my father nodded with his head low.

Funeral as it is she will be buried in front of my eyes, Life is very unfair it will make you see things you never wished to see. And they say this is life after some time you'll move on but we can never move from the closest person's death.

*AFTER TWO WEEKS* 

There was preparation going on my house and this house was never my home after my mother's death but it doesn't feel like a house too. Everything feels dead here just silence and since it's my sister's funeral today.

That's why everyone is going here and there but I was standing beside my father while the people were coming and saying they felt sorry and all. But I'm feeling all blank.

My lacy black-covered glove hand rests on my father's bicep i wore a black knee-length dress and black ribbon-printed heels which Sofia gifted me. I still can't believe she is no more.

After some time the ritual started and after doing final goodbyes they started burying her but not a single shed of tears left my eyes people were murmuring what kind of sister I was but people has mouths so they will only say bullshit.

I know how much my heart ached when they finally buried her and I put my rose on the casket for my beautiful sister while my father cried softly he did the same and everyone did.

Alexander came to my side when the funeral ended he's 22 years old and just got into Harvard University same as me he said in his cold gruff voice. "Can we talk?" I looked up at him to find him looking at me already.

I nodded curtly "Not here Bella." he held my hand and took me to the upper side we can see all from here. "Look, Isabella, I'll not round my words What happened when the accident happened," he said in a cold voice. 

Oh, he's asking because of Sofia after all his fiance died, I scoff just because their marriage was fixed she was hurt because she never wanted to marry Alexander. Because she had a lover.

Wait, she never told me about that lover she just talked about him but I never actually knew his name. Alexander's dark yet cold voice made me shiver and I turned my head to his "I'm waiting, Bella tell me what happened that time?"

Suddenly I saw a person behind Alexander standing and he wore a black mask and he looked young around Alexander's age. I followed his eyes and they stopped at my sister's grave.

I gasp this mysterious person is here all alone all by himself and looking at my sister's grave. Why does it feel weird all of a sudden?
