"A Cruel Past"

Chapter 4 

Isabella Pov

I called him because I needed some answers from Alexander, and after a beat of silence he broke the silence and said in his rough yet amused voice, "I guess when you call someone you need to say something as well, Bella." I glare at my phone which shows his name I Know he can't see but I really wanna scream at him.

"What happened Bella cat got your tongue," he said adding fuel to my infuriating heart. I sneered at him and said sarcastically "You know your ego is bigger than you." he chuckled which made my body tingle with sensation.

"Oh really you know what is else also big?" he asked casually my cheeks turned red what the hell? He doesn't mean his-- "My height Bella what were you thinking?" he burst into a big fit of laughter.

My cheeks were burning now I managed to let out "Shut up." but he teased me more and now I seriously said, "Alexander I need answers." for a moment the line went silent. "I'm listening, Bella." 

"I can't decline this marriage because of the company but what is your reason?" I asked after a sigh "Just like you can't deny you I can't as well and my father also blackmailed me into this." I could hear him grit his teeth.

"Wait he blackmailed you about what? you have everything." I mutter in disbelief but then I hear his cold reply "Just because I've money doesn't mean I have everything Bella." after hearing his reply I somewhat feel sad for him. 

What could he have wanted I know he wouldn't tell me because of his cold demeanor so I didn't push him further and I whispered "Okay, goodnight Alexander." waiting for his 'goodnight' but after hearing nothing but silence I got annoyed, and just as I was going to press on the red button he said.

"Goodnight, Bella," he mumbled and I could sense he was tired but I cut the call anyway. And lay on the bed thinking about what might have tired him and then I shook his thoughts off my head and drifted to sleep.

When I woke up and got ready for the office in the morning I opened my tablet to read the Article 'A news came out Morozov enterprises are facing some difficulty in handling, is Mr.Alexander Morozov aren't able to handle his own company.' there was many more articles what is happening with his company.

Is he hiding something from me that is why he wasn't talking to me in a good mood, I texted my manager that I needed all the information about Alexander when I reached the company.

I got inside my car "Good morning miss, Isabella.", my driver name Oliver greeted me I smiled at him. "Good morning Mr. Smith how are you." he politely replied "I'm good thanks for asking." I nodded smiling and he started driving while I looked out from the window from the backseat.

What could have happened to Alexander's company, I hope nothing big happened he might be my enemy but I can't think anything bad happened to anyone. Since when I'm so fragile about my mother's company.

I know what feels like to hear about your company like that, I still remember when my father told me about the alliance between the Morozov group and the Moretti group he told me that My elder sister Sofia and Alexander are wed to be. Even though she didn't want to marry him because she was in love with someone else she had no other choice but to stay silent about it.

So we made a plan that after her 18th birthday she'd get her driver's license and then she'd leave with her lover but when that day she became scared and distance didn't tell what was bothering her, I thought if I give her some time she'll get okay but she had other plans since childhood days we always never hide anything from each other.

*THE PAST*

"Sofia slow down please." I pleaded to my sister who was driving in complete excitement and something I couldn't understand but she had tears in her eyes i don't know happy or sad. Dad gifted her the brand new pink Astin Martin she wanted and now she's driving very fast i held the seatbelt for my dear life.

At first, I was excited and now I'm terrified not for me but for her, "Chill Isabella should I drift, okay I'll drift for you." she said grinning but tears still in the back of her eyes.

And then she drifted into the car and then I couldn't control it and asked her "Sofia, what has happened to you why are behaving so weird." and she looked at me for a moment her hand resting on the steering wheel.

she burst into tears and told me "H-he broke up with me, he thinks I'll marry Alexander." My eyes widened I was a stunt for a moment my heart ached for her "What, you didn't tell him that you're going to run away with him." she nodded her head still weeping.

"Okay, Sofia pulled over, and then let's talk about this okay," I said softly and held her hand she nodded and I wiped her face with tissues as she was driving I smiled and told her "You can slow down now Sofia."

I felt her tense I furrowed and asked her "Sofia what happened, why aren't you slowing down." she looked into my eyes, and my eyes widened "I'm not able to slow down, Isabella." 

"What?" I asked and snapped at her. "if you are joking with me right now Sofia I swear I'll---" Tears fell from her eyes and she stated, "I'm not joking I don't know what is happening." 

My breath stuck onto my chest in horror but I said "Okay Sofia calm down and try to push on the brakes." she nodded at my soft voice and tried but the car didn't slow down for a bit.

"It's not working, Isabella what should I do." she was on the verge of breaking down and panicking. "Okay, let's call father, he'll save us." I tried to unlock my phone to find it off. "my phone is off Sofia give me your phone." and she tried to look into her pockets to find it empty.

"In excitement, I left my phone at the house." she cried. "I'm sorry Isabella because of my recklessness self you are in danger because of me."

"No, Sofia It's not your fault," I said softly but as she drove we were now in the middle of the forest road, I gulped thinking we wouldn't make it. "Sofia, look at me." she looked at me with her teary eyes she has the same eyes as Mom i smiled softly at her my own eyes filled with tears I told her.

"You won't blame yourself, do you hear me? It not your fault." I nodded at her she nodded as well a choking sob broke out from my throat and the car started to slow down on its own because of the petrol.

Sofia looked at me and smiled and I sighed we are safe she is safe, I chanted this in my mind like a mantra, and the car stopped at the velly point. Sofia opened her seatbelt and hugged me in relief but god wanted something else.

I hear a loud horn from the which is coming in my way I scream but it is too late "Sofia get down." the truck hit our car and our car rolled down I had the seatbelt on but the sharp shed of window glass pierced through her cheeks she screamed and cried while I tried to hold her hand but nothing seems to work.

When the car stopped rolling we were upside down due to the car's position my sniff and my voice were hoarse I was breathing heavily my eyes blurred and it was hard to keep them "Sofia, are you okay?" I mumbled I heard her voice she was losing consciousness oh no! "Sofia, please stay awake." I heard her broken whine "I can't Isabella." 

"No, Sofia please for me try to stay awake." I heard her breath coming out wait she was not breathing properly. "Isabella, promise me something," she says her voice barely a whisper. 

"Promise me that you'll never blame yourself for this. i-if d-dad a-ask b-blame on me okay?" she said these last words and lost consciousness I screamed her name and tried to get off my seatbelt but it didn't come off I held her hand and shake her and somehow I tried to check her pulse and my heart stopped beating.

She wasn't breathing and her body had turned cold I didn't know if I'd see the rays again but I saw my sister die in front of me painfully,

I cried and cried until Darkness consumed me. I hoped once I woke this all be a cruel Nightmare and My sister would stay in front of my eyes. little did I know what would happen when I woke up.
