Ch. 17: Sleepover

Sariel's point of view

I was sitting in his living room, fiddling with my cellphone. He left me here for an hour and never came back. Is he really going to make me sleep here? I was busy scrolling on my phone when the doorbell rang. I raised an eyebrow. Is he expecting someone?

I glanced at the room where Maddy went earlier. After a minute, he still hadn't come out. I hesitated, unsure whether to open the door or not. The doorbell rang three more times, so I stood up and opened the door. Whatever it is, it's his life. He was taking so long to come out. My eyes widened when I opened the door. The man outside was about to knock on my face, but he stopped when he saw the door was already open.

There were two of them, and the one behind him was peeking at me. "Where's Madd—oops, the grumpy man has a special guest?" The man spoke as if he had just seen a beautiful woman for the first time—and that woman was me!
