I rolled my eyes when I saw Josiah smiling while waving at me outside the classroom. I wanted to go home a while ago because my friend was still teasing me from the outside. We were supposed to go home a while ago, but one of my subjects took a make-up class so we don't have to go to class with her on Saturday. My gosh! Why does it seem like we owe her that, she was the one who didn't come in with us the day before.

"To those students who have already done with their quiz, you can go now,"

It was like I was revived when I heard my professor say that. I quickly put my things in my bag and stood up to pass my quiz to our professor.

"Thank you, Ms. Dela Peña," my prof said and then smiled at me.

I just smiled and nodded before I left the room. Josiah immediately greeted me so I threw my bag at him.

"Ouch! Take it easy!" he complained.

I grinned when I saw that he was shocked that I threw my bag at him but I didn't pay attention to that.

"Where's Clara?" I asked him and started walking.

"Haven't you read her message yet?" he asked me.

"Shall I ask if I read it?" I asked him philosophically.

He just shook his head and didn't answer me anymore because he had some classmates we met. A few of them greeted me but I just nodded without even looking at them. Good thing I had my cell phone in my pocket to read Clara's message in our group chat.

From Clara:I have to go home early. I need to check the dress that I will use at the party this weekend.

I was devastated when I read Clara's message and just shook my head. I walked ahead of Josiah when I heard that he had finished talking to his classmates.

"I still can't believe that Clara will attend that party this weekend. She used to not like a party," I complained while walking down the corridor.

"How come she won't attend when she found out that her ultimate crush, Elijah, is coming," Josiah answered me.

"I know your family is going too, so I'll go with my Dad," he added to me.

I just sighed and rolled my eyes again because I can't still believe Clara's reason. The businessmen and businesswomen have a social gathering this coming Saturday. I know my family doesn't get caught up in things like this so I'm sure we'll all go there too.

"Oh come on. I also know the reason why you are going with your Dad. You and Clara are the same," I replied to him and then rolled my eyes again.

Josiah laughed so I just shook my head. He likes my younger sister Stella and I just let him like her because I would rather have him for my sister than any other man. At least, I have known Josiah since my childhood.

"That's why you should also go so that the three of us can be complete with Clara," Josiah told me convincingly.

"I'll think about it. You know I don't like a party like that, especially when we're with Mom," I answered, then bowed slightly.

"Don't worry. That's why Clara and I are there, right? Don't think about your Mom too much. All you need to do is to enjoy," Josiah answered me to ease my heart.

"Eli!"

I couldn't speak anymore when I heard Sister Allison's voice calling me not far from Josiah and me.

"Allison is really beautiful but Stella is even more beautiful," Josiah whispered.

I didn't pay attention to what my friend said because I focused more on my older sister who called me. She's with her friends. Allison is in her fourth year of college and I am in my second year of college, so we are both at the same University.

Allison motioned for me to come to her so I slightly turned to Josiah for him to join me there and he immediately followed me. I almost go back when I saw Jackson appear in Allison's group but I chose to continue.

Jackson is my ex-boyfriend. We have been together for a long time and four months have passed since we broke up. After all, he wanted to focus on his studies because he was graduating. When I agreed to break up with him because I thought it would be good for him, I never thought that after two months he would be with the woman I was jealous of before.

"Why?" I asked Allison when I finally got close to her.

"Can you please tell to Mom that I will be home late tonight? Today is Keila's birthday," Allison told me then looked at her friend Keila.

"Oh! Sure! Happy Birthday, Keila!" I greeted then looked at it.

"Thank you, Scarlet! You are also invited to our house. You can come!" Keila said while smiling and thanked me.

I just laughed and shook my head because I was suddenly embarrassed. My siblings and I are close, so even their friends are becoming my friends, but since I'm not in the mood for parties right now, especially since my ex and his new one seem to be there, I don't want to attend.

"Thank you, Keila, but I can't. I still have projects to finish. I'll just make up with you next time," I replied to make an excuse.

"Is that your thesis?"

I was a little surprised when Jackson asked me. In four months, he only spoke to me like this again. I'm mad at him but I don't want to show it to him because I don't want them to see that I'm still affected even if it's true.

l"No," I answered coldly then looked at Allison.

"I'll have to go. I'll just tell Mom what you told me but call her anyway," I added and then I left there completely.

When I got home, I informed my Mom that Allison is not coming home early but she came home very late that's why she got scolded. I don't know what happened next in the past few days. I just continued to attend and participate in class.

"Girls, are you ready?" Mommy asked when she came down from upstairs.

A while ago we were hanging out here in the living room with my two sisters. Sister Allison is busy with her iPad while Stella is busy watching k-drama on our TV. I don't usually use my phone that's why I just watch with Stella so I don't get bored. Today is the weekend and I don't have any idea why my Mom didn't come to our company to work. This is new to us because we used to know that she's always a very busy person.

She just said that she wants us to bond today because we haven't been able to do that for a long time since our father died.

"Yes, Mom. I was ready a while ago. How long will we be there?" Allison answered and then asked.

I looked at Mommy who was fully dressed and I saw her sighing and shaking because of Allison's question to her.

"Of course, we will take a long time. Why are you going again, Allison?" Mommy asked back to Allison then raised one of her eyebrows.

Allison also sighed and slightly shook her head, and smiled before she speak again.

"Nothing, Mom. I just want to rest the whole day. You know I'm busy with school because I'm graduating," Ate replied.

"Yeah, that's why I'm taking you guys out. I know you guys are tired because of school but I'm here right now to treat you all," Mommy answered then rolled her eyes.

"Let's go shopping today. Buy all you want!" Mommy said excitedly.

"Oh! I'm sure there will be a replacement, Mom. Come on tell us," I said because I know her.

She just laughed and then sat next to me so I snorted.

"You know me, Scarlet!" Mommy said laughing at me.

"Whatever that is. Can I just not come?" I asked.

I know there will be a replacement for all her treats. We will attend the social gathering that Clara and Josiah are talking about and I don't want to go there. When that happens, I know Mom will introduce us again and will set a date with her business partner's sons. I'm so sick of it! I don't want to do it again because it's just a waste of my time.

"No. You guys should come with me there. I have an award as a good CEO of the company and I don't want to accept that without us being complete," Mommy explained to me immediately.

"At a social gathering? Sure! I'm gonna come, Mom! I know it will be fun because some of my friends are also coming!" Allison said excitedly too,

"I have no objection to that. I can't do anything either so I'll just go along," Stella replied.

I just took a deep breath and shook my head because they are the only ones who like this kind of thing. I just don't have a choice because when Mommy says that, I can't go against that.

"I promise. I will let you enjoy the party. I will not introduce you to the sons of my business partners," Mommy said just to convince me.

I didn't have anything else to do but say yes to Mommy. That same day we went shopping for clothes and other things. The four of us also went to a spa to relax. I just followed them and I also enjoyed our bonding anyway. I didn't even know that the party was on tomorrow, so that night I just locked myself in my room to sleep.

The next day it was busy at home because my Mom called a make-up artist and stylist for the three of us, Allison and Stella. I also received a lot of texts and chats from Clara and Josiah last night but I didn't reply to them. We will also meet at the party. I won't even tell them about my attendance so that they can be surprised when they see me there.

I looked at myself in the big mirror in my room. I just finished fixing it in the dressing room here at home but I went back to my room so I could see myself better. I'm wearing a silver silky dress and it's backless. My three-inch heels are also silver and I only put a little jewelry on my body. I don't want others to think that I prepared too much to attend the party that my Mom was talking about. I also don't want to look bad in front of many people, especially since my Mom will receive an award for our company. My friends called me a few times earlier, but as time went on, they didn't bother me anymore. Maybe they were too busy with the arrangements and maybe they thought that I wouldn't be there. "Sister, Eli! Is it true that Josiah will attend that party too?" Stella asked me when she suddenly entered my room.I looked at her and raised an eyebrow at her. When she saw my raised eyebrows, she sighed and did nothing but go out of my room again to knock. I grinned and shook my hea

I went outside to get some fresh air because I couldn't stand the scene right there. I don't understand why he wants to talk to me, even though we're not together anymore. Also, everything is clear to me. That's fine with me and I accept that he's dating someone now. I accepted it even though I was still hurt but there was nothing I could do because we both started to move on.Fortunately, I brought the wine I bought there. I'll just let my two friends look for me later but I think they won't look for me because they're busy with their crushes. Out of the three of us, I'm the only one who doesn't have a crush! Both of them should be ready when someone gets my attention."Hey,""Hey!" I almost shouted while still holding my chest because of the shock. "What the hell?!" I said indignantly when I saw who it was. I couldn't take back what I said because I was taken by surprise. I don't know what Stefan is doing here. I don't want to assume that he is following me here. "I'm sorry. I di

"Thank you,"I looked at Stefan who was smiling while staring at me. We were starting to dance now and I couldn't look directly at him. I'm still a bit annoyed because the few people who saw us, if they weren't teasing us, they were taking pictures of us. "This is gonna be yours last. Don't forget my condition," I said to him using my stubborn attitude toward him. He laughed so I didn't even look at him. I don't know what he ate. For sure he has been seeing me at school before and I just don't understand why he is paying attention to me now. "Oh come on, Eli. We just met and we're schoolmates. Why don't we try to be friends with each other?" he answered and asked me. "I already have friends," I answered him. "I know but I still want to be friends with you. Can we? Please?" He pleaded like a child."I'll think about it first," I answered him because I'm sure he won't stop me again. He was about to speak when Jackson suddenly appeared at our side causing Stefan and me to turn arou

"That would be nice to hear, Eli, but it's not. Your sister already has a boyfriend. She told me then that I should just wait for her until she graduates from college," he said to me one after another, so I became silent."I did what she told me to wait for her. You saw how I avoid women who pay attention to me just for your sister, but I didn't expect it now. While I was waiting for her, she was already in love with others. How ridiculous, right?" he continued speaking then shook his head. I bit my lip as I listened to Josiah's story. I don't know anything my sister said to him because Josiah doesn't like to tell stories. Even now I am shocked by what I found out. "Why don't you tell me?" he asked. I frowned, "Say which one?" I asked curiously. "That someone else is flirting with Stella. For sure he's visiting your house and you see it. Why didn't you tell me? Why did you let me hope?" he said and asked me one after another so I shook my head one after another. "Jos, I-I didn't

"Why is she here? Did Mom let her?" I asked. "I don't know. I saw her here earlier and she's your responsibility here. Just keep an eye on it," she answered and then left me there completely. I was in agony and shook because I was going to be a baby sitter now! And I really have to keep an eye on that girl especially since I found out that she has a boyfriend. I don't know that man, that's why I don't trust that he is with my sister now. I drank my last shot again and asked for two more shots before finally leaving to go back to our table because my friends might be looking for me. They looked up at me when I got there, especially Stefan, so I looked back at him with a frown. I was still wondering if there was dirt on my face because that man had been looking at me for a while. I couldn't help but notice because it was as if he was reading my mind every time he looked at me. "Vodka, Eli?" he asked. My lips lifted and looked at the two shots I was holding. That's why he was looki

"No worries, Eli. By the way, where're your friends?" he asked and his eyes wandered to find my friends. "Ah, they just go around. I don't know where they went," I answered then shrugged my shoulders. "I still haven't seen Josiah, it's a shame he didn't participate in our games," he told me. "Even though he's here, I'm sure he won't join. He's a killjoy tonight," I answered him. After my sister rejected him, I don't think he wants to play with us now. I'm sure he's drinking more right now to forget about it."Too bad. I wish I could ask him something," he said as I poured wine into my glass and his glass. "What are you going to ask him?" I asked after drinking wine again. "If he likes you," Stefan answered me immediately. I suddenly coughed because I was surprised by what he said and then I couldn't help but laugh because of that. "Oh, why? Are you alright? Why did my words make you cough?" he said with a worried voice. "Just from your reaction, I think you really like each o

"I woke up early so I could catch up with you," I answered then shrugged my shoulders. "Oh okay. Do you need anything? Money? No worries. I'm gonna transfer it to your account," Mommy said immediately, making me shake my head. "Mom, no. I need to tell you something," I told her. I don't need money because my account never runs out. That's not why I woke up early today either. "Oh my gosh, Scarlet. Don't surprise me," she said while pouring tea into her cup. "Listen to me carefully," I said and immediately saw Mommy nod at me. "I just discovered last night that Stella already has a boyfriend. Is there someone who asks your permission to court our Stella?" I asked.Mommy's eyes widened then she shook her head at me so I just nodded and sighed. "Maybe that's not her boyfriend. You know your sister has a lot of friends. Just like you and Josiah, maybe they were just best friends," Mommy said so I shook my head one after another. "Mom, no. And do you know what happened at our after

"I'm leaving first. "I just have to go somewhere," Josiah said as we walked down the corridor to the library. "Where are you going?" I asked him. "I'm just passing by my group mates on a subject," he replied then immediately changed direction. When Clara and I looked at each other, I just rolled my eyes."I don't believe that Josiah is going to join his group mates. He's just going to see Stella," I said. Clara laughed while nodding at me before speaking. "You know him, don't you? I don't believe it either, so it's funny because he has to lie to us even though it's obvious that Stella is the one he's going to," Clara continued as she continued to laugh. "I can see how serious he is with Stella. In the few years I've been with Josiah, he doesn't pay attention to the women who're approaching him. He's loyal to Stella even though he's not sure that she'll like him back," I said, then shrugged. "You're right. I just don't understand why Stella's torturing Jos," she replied then sig

"Won't your boyfriend be angry? I can explain to Yasmin that you can't join us," Stefan said as we walked to Yasmin's hospital room.I shook my head and smirked a little because he really believed that Lance was my boyfriend."There's nothing to be angry about. Don't mind about it, Stefan. It's okay. I assure you," I told him, and he smiled. He sighed and shook his head at me, as if I couldn't convince him that it was all right for me."I just don't want you to fight because of this," he answered when we finally entered Yasmin's room.I saw Yasmin's frown when she looked at us; that's why I smiled at her, because she seemed to have heard the last thing Stefan said."Get angry? Who gets angry? Is your mommy taking you away from us, Doc?" Yasmin asked one after the other.I quickly shook my head at her and looked at Stefan, who led me to walk. I told him earlier that Stefan and I didn't get back together, but he didn't want to believe that."Stop it, Jos. We just talked. That's it," I answered him.We are now walking to a restaurant near the hospital. As usual, even when I'm outside, I know there are bodyguards following me. It was already dinner time, so we decided to eat outside because we had duty all night."Talked? You said that you already talked. I've seen you two talking so many times that's why you can't use an excuse that word to me," he said one after another as if he didn't really believe what I was saying.I shook my head again because I didn't know how I could convince him that Stefan and I really just talked earlier."If you don't want to believe me, then you better ask him by yourself. We really just talked for our closure, and we also talked about the false

After coming from the precinct, I went straight to the hospital. Josiah immediately approached me to ask what happened."Stella mentioned to me that you are from the precinct. How are you? Have you talked to your dad's twin brother?" Josiah immediately asked me.I nodded and sighed."Yup. I have also introduced them to Tito Adler, and we still get to know him," I answered.Josiah nodded at me before he fixed his laboratory coat. He was about to speak, but he turned his gaze behind me, which made me frown, and looked at it.I saw Stefan approaching us; that's why I held my breath."I'll just check on some of my patients. I'll come to your office later," Josiah said, then immediately left.I panicked for a moment because I didn't expect him to leave right away, but I calmed myself down."Doc Eli," Stefan called me.I kept looking at him, and I could see the doubt in his eyes, as if he wasn't sure if he should approach me now.I cleared my throat and stood properly before I spoke."Mr. E

"How can you not know about that, Mom?" Allison asked."My gosh! If he hadn't introduced himself, I might have believed that it was Dad!" Stella said one after the other."How can I know about that? Your Daddy never mentioned to me that he has a twin!" Mommy answered, then sat down on the sofa.We are at home now because, after Tito Adler's statement appeared on the news, Mommy called us to come home. I thought they wouldn't be able to watch it right away because they were busy with their work, but I was surprised when they watched it right away."He looks like Dad. I suddenly miss Daddy," Allison said with a sad voice.I remembered the night Uncle Adler appeared to me, and I was also very devastated because I thought it was Dad in front, but it wasn't. I understand Allison's feelings because I have felt the same."So what's your plan, Mom? Don't tell me we're not going to help him, huh?" asked Stella.I looked up at Mommy because I was interested in her answer to Stella's question. I

I don't know how many minutes passed until Mommy finally calmed down, but there was still a trace of anger in her eyes. "I-I just want to help the baby, but that doesn't mean I'm going back to Stefan," I explained to them. Even Stella did not want to agree to me adopting Elias because she said it was not my obligation. Another thing is that they really hate Stefan, even though I told them that I forgave him a long time ago. "How can you be so sure about that? I'm sure that man will use you again!" Stella said, annoyed. "It looks like you're planning to fool around for the rest of your life, Eliana. Hey! I don't know if I should be the one to say it. You're at the right age, so it's up to you!" Mommy kept preaching to me. I sighed again because I couldn't understand why they were thinking of me getting back together with Stefan, even though it never crossed my mind. "I just want to help the baby, but I have no intention of getting back together with Stefan. I don't have any feeli

After I got Yasmin back to her room, I let her rest. Stefan was still there, and Elias was asleep in the little crib. "Thank you, Doc. How is she?" Stefan asked me. Yasmin fell asleep immediately because her body gets tired quickly. Stefan, on the other hand, stopped what he was doing to come to me and say thank you. "She was fine, and we have already talked. She just mentioned something to me earlier," I answered, then shrugged my shoulders. I could see the slight surprise in his eyes, as if he already knew what it was about. "A-About what?" he stuttered. I avoided looking at him, and I looked at Yasmin, who was sleeping on her bed, as if she were very tired. "She doesn't want to have the surgery," I answered.I feel so sorry for her, because even if I don't agree with what she wants, I can't do anything else. "Yes, she already told me about that. I don't agree to what she wants even though her funds for her treatment have been used up," Stefan explained, causing me to turn t

I saw that the sun was about to set, and I was glad to witness it now because it was almost night when I left the hospital. It's a good thing that Yasmin asked for this, so I was able to watch the sunset with her. "How's your feeling?" I asked Yasmin. We are now behind the hospital, where there are many trees and a large oval field. This is the place I chose for my hospital so that I could give the patients a big space. The air is fresh there, and I sometimes go here when I want to be alone. There are also other patients there who are being taken around by their nurses. "As of now, I feel fine and feel no pain," Yasmin answered me. I gave her the vegetable salad that Josiah gave me earlier because I couldn't eat it anymore. I only drink iced coffee now. Yasmin was looking at the big oval field while sitting in her wheelchair, so I sat on a bench right next to her. "Your surgery is coming soon. Are you ready?" I asked her. I looked at Yasmin, and I saw a lot of changes in her ph

I didn't last long in the nursery room either, and Stefan and I were able to talk there, so when we finished, I went back to my work. "You see?" I saw Josiah immediately shake his head while looking at me, so I slightly raised an eyebrow at him. "How many times do I have to tell you, Eli? Separate your personal feelings in situations like this so you don't get hurt in the end," he said to remind me again. I held my breath and tried to smile at him before speaking. "I know, Jos. I just felt something strange about the baby," I answered him. I know that my weakness is children because I lost my own child. I just sometimes think that Yasmin is very lucky because, even tho

I went straight to Lance's room and found him awake. He was talking with Criza, his sister. They looked at me at the same time when I entered, so I smiled. "Doc, Eli." Criza greeted me. I smiled at Criza and couldn't help but remember what I discovered about what happened to her. I turned to Criza to have a kiss with her, then I looked at Lance, who was just looking at me silently. "I'll leave you two here for now. I'm just going to buy something outside," Criza said to say goodbye. I nodded to her, and I watched her until she got out of Lance's hospital room. When Criza finally left, I turned to Lance again. He smirked as if he was going to start teasing me again, so I immediately came to him and lightly slapped his arm. "Ouch! Eliana! Did you really come here to hurt me?" he asked, then laughed slightly. "Yeah, because you're annoying! Why did you catch the bullet meant for me? You don't have nine lives," I complained to him. He laughed, so I glared at him. "Stop laughing. T
