Chapter one : Meeting Alexi

“Alright class don’t forget your summer assignments. I expect these papers on my desk when classes start up again.” My professor said.

I grabbed my papers and walked out. My boyfriend caught up with me.

“Hey, Christy what’s your assignment?” My boyfriend asked

“The Bellefonte mansion. What about you?” I said.

“Really, you are so lucky. I got the history of baseball.”

“That’s interesting maybe I could help you with that.”

“Thanks Christy, but Olivia already said she was going to help me”

“Your ex girlfriend is going help you with your project? Really are you sure that’s a good idea.”

“Christy, I promise nothing going on between us. We are just really close.”

“Okay, Andy do what you want. I’m headed home. I need to get some rest before I start my project.” I walked away from Andy.

I already know that he’s cheating on my with his ex girlfriend, the RA, and so many more females.

I have screenshots of messages and pictures of him with all the girls. So far I know he has four girlfriend including me. I can’t a wait until he goes down. I just have to do it right.

I went home.

“Christina is that you?” My step mom said.

“Hey Camie, where’s Dad?” I asked.

“He’s still at work. He should be getting home soon.”

“Okay, I’m going to my room.”

“Christina, you just got home. Come spend some time us.”

“I got to get my stuff ready for tomorrow.” I said.

“What’s happening tomorrow?” she asked.

“I have to go the Bellefonte mansion. My professor says I need to summer research there.” I said.

“No, way you are not going there.”

“ I have to.”

“No you are not young lady you are grounded.”

“You can’t ground me. I’m 24. And I don’t even live here.”

I go upstairs and grab my things . Just as I was leaving my dad showed up.

“Hi Dad. Bye, Dad.” I said.

“Christy, where are you going.?”

“You’re wife was trying to ground me. Because I have to research the Bellefonte mansion. It’s my summer project from my professor. History is my major Dad I can’t fail.”

“I know, I will talk to her. I love you and be careful, okay.”

“Okay, bye Dad.”

I went to my apartment and laid down in my bed. I sighed finally it’s summer time. My history project is the Bellefonte mansion. Let’s see what do I know about Alexis D. Bellefonte. He is a famous musician from the romantic era. He was born July 15, 1898. He will be 124 this year. His house is still standing to this day because it is considered a national treasure. But no goes in there because they say it is haunted.

The day after school ended I walked into the mansion and looked around. There were cob webs everywhere. The room you walk into when you walk through the door is the kitchen. There was a step top cook stove in the corner. The was a table in the middle the room . The next room was the dining room. There were two plates on the table and two pairs of silverware, and two glasses. The was china set on display with colorful chutes. The next room was the living room there was a piano that was slightly dusty. I pressed on of the keys, it was in tune. I sat down and played one of his songs on the piano. I felt someone touch my shoulder.

“Who’s there?” I asked. “I’m not scared of ghost or poltergeist. That why teacher sent me here. I’m not a afraid of anything.”

“What about vampires.” He tapped me shoulder.

I turned around and nearly jumped out of my shoes.

“Alexi Bellefonte your alive?” I said.

“Not really.” He said.

“Wow a real vampire. Cam I see you teeth?”

“Aren’t you scared of me?”

“No. Why would I be? I think vampires are cool.”

“You think I’m cool?”

“Well of course. You are a famous musician. Can play a song for me.”

“Sure anything for a fan.”

I sat next to him and he played one of his songs for me. While he was I put my head on his shoulder. He looked at me and smiled.

“Would you like to stay for dinner?” He asked.

“Am I going to be for dessert.” I chuckled.

“My mouth can do a lot of things.” He winked at me.

“Okay Alexi.” I said. “ I’ll stay for dinner. Also do you have any wine.”

“Yeah I have wine that’s all I drink. Haven’t tasted blood in years. Your blood smells so sweet. Like candy.”

“You can have a taste if you want I don’t mind.”

“Really, are you sure. Wait before that. You know my name but I don’t know yours.”

“Oh sorry about. My name is Christina .”

“Christina that’s a beautiful name. It’s nice to meet you.”

“You too. So go ahead have a taste.”

He came to me and bit down softly. I felt him drinking my blood then something shifted. And I felt power flow into my body. And Alexi bit down harder.

“Alexi I don’t feel well.”

I passed out. Alexi caught me. He carried me to a bedroom and laid me down on the bed. He paced the floor.

I work up with a the worst migraine I have ever had.

“Alexi what happened?”

He rushed to me. “Christina, I’m so sorry. I don’t what came over me.”

An older woman walked in the room.

“She’s your mate.” The woman said.

“Mom?” Alexi said.

“That’s your mother? The Dolores A. Cardinal – Bellefonte. The famous singer.”

“Yes that’s me”

“Wow, this the greatest day of my life.” I said.

“Christina, you know that you are that you are a vampire.”

“Yep, I felt that flow of power. It’s fine when I go back to school I’ll do night school.”

“Aren’t your parents going to get worried?”

“No, my parents and I barely talk and when we do all we do is argue.”

“I understand that. I always argue with my dad.. He thinks he is always right, and he used to hit my mother and me. Until she finally divorced him.”

“And now he has been cursed by a witch to live a lonely and miserable life. All of his wives left him And now he lives in an old castle by himself.” His mother said.

“Wow, Karma is a bitch.” I said.

“She sure is. I like this one Alexi the last one sucked. Where is my grandchild?”

“She should be her room.”

“You have a child?”

“Yeah a one year old. My ex left the baby after she gave birth her. My mother l and I have been taking care off her.”

“Can I see her?” I asked

“Of course.” He said.

He took me to his daughters room. His mother picked her up out her crib. She reached out to me.

“Momma!” She said.

Dolores handed her to me.

“What’s her name?” I asked.

“Amanda.” Alexi said

“She is beautiful. Alexi. Your ex was so wrong to leave this baby. . She is the most precious baby I have ever seen.”

“I know.”

Amanda grabbed my hair and tried to put it in her mouth. I pulled my hair away from her mouth. She giggled.

“Dada!” Amanda said.

I handed Amanda to Alexi.

“It’s time to feed Amanda. Mom can you make her food, please.”

“Okay, son” She went to the kitchen.

“Hey Christina I know it’s a lot to take in. You’re a vampire now. And you’re my mate. If you need a minute.”

“I’m fine, Alexi, I promise. It not that big of a deal. Please just don’t leave me alone.” I said

I felt the tears coming.

“Christina I can feel your emotions. Since we are mates. I can feel all your emotions. I feel you screaming and crying inside.”

He put Amanda down in her crib. He took me into his room which was connected to Amanda’s room. He closed the door and sat down and motioned for me to sit next to him. I sat next to him.

“Lay your head on my lap.” He said.

I laid my head on his lap. He pushed my hair out my face.

“Christina let everything out. Scream, cry do what you need to.”

“Pillow, please.” I said.

He handed me a pillow. I took the pillow I took in a deep breath and screamed into the pillow in the middle of my screaming I started to cry. My tears became sobs, body shaking sobs.. Alexi rubbed my back.

“Its okay Christina let it out.”

Eventually I stopped crying, I looked up at Alexi.

“Alexi how did you become a vampire?” I asked.

“It was a long time. I was about 29 I think. I had just finished a show and I was meeting fans back stage. A girl approached. Back in the day we used to do the double cheek kiss. I went to go do it and she bit me.”

“Wow that’s crazy that’s how it happened?”

“No I’m just kidding I was born a vampire. But that’s what happened to my mom.” Alexi said.

“Giving birth to a vampire must have been intense for her.” I said.

“Well I can feel that you are feeling better about all of this.”

“I told you I was fine.”

“So what was all the screaming and crying for.”

“I was fine before you told me let it out. I’m great at bottling up my feelings. I’ve doing it for years.” I said.

“That’s not very healthy. Especially for your mental health.”

“Alexi can we move on to your daughter called me Momma.” I said. “I would like to talk about this mate thing because I already have a boyfriend.”

I felt a tinge of jealousy from Alexi.

“Don’t feel jealous he’s a dick. He’s been cheating on me for the last three months. I had a good plan to expose him. There is no better time than the present.”

I called my boyfriend.

“Hey, Christy.” My boyfriend said.

“Hey, what are you doing?”

“Nothing, chilling with the boys.”

“Oh cool. I’m at the Bellefonte mansion.”

“That haunted place. We should have a party there.”

Alexi looked at me and nodded.

“Okay party at the Bellefonte mansion. Bring everyone. It’s going to be a blast.” I said.

Alexi and I cleaned up the place and moved the piano outside.

I went home and grabbed a few things I needed. Luckily my parents weren’t home.

I set up the projector in the backyard. Everything was coming along. Then my boyfriend showed up with his Ex girlfriend.

“Hey Christy.” Andy said

“Hey Andrew, Olivia.”

She ignore me and played on her phone.

“Bitch” I muttered under my breath.

“Did you say something?” She said.

“Not a word.” I said. “At least not to you.”

“You got a problem?”

“Do you want there to be a problem.” I looked her up down.

People started coming in. I made sangria. Alexi came down in a costume. He went to the piano and started playing one of his songs at a faster tempo.

I looked around three were at least a hundred people here. All of his girlfriends are here. All his buddies are here and two of the girls he’s cheating me with are dating his friends. His two best friends. This is going to be great. Right when we were about to be out of Sangria I got everyone to go to the backyard.

“Ladies and gentlemen the moment you have been waiting for, or rather I have been waiting for. The Scandals of Andy.” I said.

I turned on the projector and connected to my phone. I showed them showed them slide shows that messages with all the girls he has been texting. The pictures he sent and the ones they sent. All of his dirty business was out and I have never felt better. Oliva looked at him and smacked him.

“You said that you and Christy weren’t dating. You’ve been cheating on me and all these girls. How could you.”

“You fucked my girl? How low can you go bro.”

“Mine too. Yo you gotta go bro.”

“Kick him out! Kick him out!” The crowd roared.

I looked at Andy. “You hear that time to go and you too Olivia.”

“You really know how to win over a crowd. But I know that you know that me and Andy were dating.”

“Yeah and so what if I did. He’s my man not yours.”

“And you can have him. I got someone way better.”

Alexi came behind and put his arms around me.

“Alexi Bellefonte?!” Andy said. “Your Christy’s favorite musician.”

“And he’s my mate.” I said. “Now please get out my house. I never want to see either of you again.”

They left. The party died down at one in the morning.

“Hey Alexi this might come out as rude but have vampire ever slept in coffins?” I asked.

“Not that I know of, I’ve always had bed.”

“OK well can you show me to a bed or I’m going to pass our right here.”

“You can sleep in my room.”

“Will you stay with me. I still don’t want to be alone.” I said.

“Of course I’ll stay with you. I will always be by your side.” Alexi smiled at me.

I returned the smile.

“You have the most beautiful smile.” Alexi said.

“Thank you.” I laid down.

Alexi laid down next to me. He held me in his strong yet gentle arms. He turned me towards him and he kissed my forehead.

“So, Christy I heard from a birdie a traitorous birdie that I am your favorite musician is that true.”

“Yes, you are the reason why I can play piano, the violin, the cello and a lot of other instruments. And I listen to your music nonstop. It always makes me feel better on days that I’m stressed out.”

“Wow that’s amazing, Christy. Thank you so much.”

“For what?” I asked.

“Not many people like my music especially with Bach out there and other musicians. And especially now in the twenty first century no one listens to classical or romantic era music anymore.”

“You’d be surprised. I have a friend that has a Playlist of classical era music and romantic era music. And in that Playlist most of it consists of your songs. You still popular even though your are dead. You are a legend amongst Bach and the others.” I yawned. “Even though I love to talk about music all day this vampire needs her rest or she will get really cranky. So good night. We will talk about all this mate and vampire stuff tomorrow. Good night Alexi.”

“Good night, Christy.?”

We woke up in the middle of the night to Amanda crying. And screaming Momma. I got up and went to her room and picked her up and brought her to Alexi’s room. I laid her on my chest. I put the covers over us and went back to sleep. I woke up in the morning to Alexi staring at me.

“What is it? Do I have something on my face?” I asked.

“No, you just so adorable when you are sleeping and extra adorable when Amanda is sleeping on top of you. He said. He chuckled. “Also thanks for getting her last night.”

“Its not a problem. She was crying for me.” I said softly. “Is she still sleeping?”

“Yes, she will be out for another four hours. Baby vampires sleep longer than us. The have to save energy since they can’t get the food source by their selves.”

“Okay can I move her?” I asked.

“Don’t do that. If you move once she gets comfortable. You don’t want to hear the screams that comes out that baby’s mouth.”

“So I have to lay here for four hours. . Well I guess I can go back to sleep. Come get me if anything serious happens.”

“I will.” Alexi said. “Sleep well.”

I went back to sleep. About 20 minutes into my sleep Alexi ran into the room

“Humans,.” He said.

“What do we do?” I asked.

“Change into bat form”

“I don’t know how to do that.”

“Right your still new a vampire. Grab my hand.”

“What about Amanda won’t she scream.”

“It will be fine.”

I took his hand and pulled Amanda to my chest.

“Okay I really don’t know how to explain how to shift. I’ve been doing it for years.”

His mother came to me and took my hand from Alexi.

“Close your eyes. Let everything slip breath in and calm your mind. Focus on the power in your blood. The bond between you and Alexi. Let it was over you and shift.”

I shifted into a bat. We went to the attic. Little baby bat Amanda was on my back. I heard the door open.

“Christy are you here? You weren’t at home and you said you were researching the mansion. I gave Amanda to Alexi. I flew out of the attic.

Shifting out of the bat form is easier. I came down stairs.

“Hey Dad what are you doing here?” I asked.

“You weren’t at home I was worried about you.”

“ I’m fine Dad. Just doing my research.”

“I saw some things on F******k. Are you okay kiddo. You broke up with your boyfriend. And you’re with someone that looks like Alexi Bellefonte and the same name as him. It’s going viral.”

“Dad remember my research on vampires witches and werewolves. Turns out it’s true. I was right Dad. And I can prove it.”

“Hey, Christy come on there are no such thing as vampires.” My Dad said.

“You never believe me, even with all the research in the world. You what know you don’t have to believe me. You never change. Everyone thinks I’m a genius except for you. And your my Dad. Mom always believed me. She knew that I would discover the undiscovered. She believed that I would uncover the mysteries in the world. Well Dad I did that. But you can just go back to your wife and leave me alone.”

“Christy.”

“Dad please just leave.”

Dad left and they all came down.

“Momma.” Amanda reached for me.

“Seriously, we need to talk about this Momma thing.” I took Amanda. “I’m not her mom so why is calling me that?”

“Well since you are Alexis mate , she sees you as her mother.”

“Yeah there’s a whole lot of things we need to talk about. Like the mate thing. Me being a vampire. I was just a human yesterday. I’m a college student I still have things I haven’t tried and I can’t go out during the day.”

“Christy breath. We will figure it out.”

“No this too much for me. I need to go home and think about this and probably drink a whole bottle of tequila and smoke a pack of cigarettes.”

“You can’t leave right now the sun is up. And my mom has at least three cartons of cigarettes in her room.

“That is true I do. I go out once month to buy 5 cartons of cigarettes.”

“How do you get the money for that?”

“Usually Alexi scares everyone and they drop their phone or their wallets.” His mom said..

“So you are thieves. You know what never mind I’ll take a pack of cigarettes, now please.”

Dolores went to get the pack. I gave Amanda to Alexi. I lit the cigarette. I blew out the smoke. My body relaxed.

“That’s so much better.” I said.

“Alexi can we talk?” I asked.

“Uh oh. Those words have never been good a sign together in a hundred years.” He gave Amanda to his mom.

We went into his bedroom.

“What’s up Christy?”

“I don’t think I can’t do this.”

“Before you say what you what you were about say. If you sever our bond we are going to be in a lot of pain.”

“That’s fine I’m sorry Alexi. I need to think about all of this. You have been great to me. Take care. Alexi, I reject you as my m mate.” I said

“I still accept you as my mate.” Alexi said.

I felt so much pain in my chest. I fell to my knees. I couldn’t breath. I looked at Alexi. He was on the ground. He reached out for my hand. I grabbed his hand as tears rolled down my face. He came closer. He put his hand on my cheek and wipe my tears. He kissed my forehead.

“I will be waiting for you Christy. I love you.”

When night fell I went home. And I cried all night. My chest still hurts. It seems to hurt more. The pain was unbearable. My body floated in the air, I felt a surge of power watch over me. I twirled in the air and change in to a red dress with two silts on each side. I looked in the mirror even though I am an a vampire I could see my reflection. I saw wings on my back. Something weird is happening. I wanted to call my dad but I was still mad at him. So cried into my body pillow. I missed him. I changed into my bat form and flew to Alexi I wasn’t paying attention and I flew into another bat.

We both fell I turned back and so did the other bat. I turned back to back normal. I stood up. The other person stood up. It was Alexi.

“I’m sorry.” I said.

“It’s fine.” He said.

“Alexi I can’t breathe with out you. The pain in my chest is not worth it. I would rather be your mate under one condition.”

“ Sure. What is it”

“We take everything slow. We get to know each other. Go dates have fun. Do you have other family members or friends. We should game night.”

“OK, Christy calm down.”

“Also something happened while I was at my apartment. I think I might be witch or a fairy” I said

“The council will know.”

“The council?” I said.

“Yes, we will be getting together in six months.”

“Six months that’s a long time to wait for answer.” I said.

“It’s okay. I’ll be with you the whole time. I promise
