Chapter Five

As soon as we arrived, I quickly got out of the vehicle and stomped to my suite shutting the door behind me.

I stared down at the flashy gold diamond encrusted jewelry, I now had on my left ring finger. It was way too much for me. I didn't think I could fit into such a lifestyle, I just wanted to run and hide. In all my rage I took off my clothes, took a shower and slid under the covers. It seemed like a routine to be pissed off by this man. I slept off soon after wondering when it'll be possible to go back home, I missed my apartment.

The next morning my phone was buzzing with calls and texts. News sure spread like wildfire. There was no way I could deny that it was me in those pictures. It was so obvious.

Bloggers were soon to start digging deep into my details and that would become a bother so I ran straight to the main cause of all this chaos.

I was told he was in his office and would not be available until much later but I couldn't wait.

I was about leaving the suite, I spotted the ring beneath the bed lamp. I slipped it on, fully aware of the implications, but it was the only way get to his office without any unnecessary harassment.

I took a cab straight to Kingston Corp' and slipped into the building. I was casually dressed which was a way of dragging attention, unfortunately.

I called him the moment I got in but he didn't pick up. I had to take the elevator despite how crowded it was. The stops were really frustrating, and the people in there did not make it easier. There were lots of lifts but with lots of employees being added, they just weren't enough.

It seemed I was the only one heading to the top floor because the elevator was empty and I was the only one left. The people gave me weird looks for reasons unknown to me. Was it prohibited to go to the top floor? I asked myself but I couldn't get an answer cause I had arrived already.

The floor was absolutely empty and was not bustling with life like the rest of the floors I had seen.

Creepy much?

I walked towards a relatively large office with see through walls. I saw a woman inside typing furiously on her computer and sweating even with the Air conditioner on.

"Excuse me?" I knocked lightly on her door.

"Yes, what is it?" She snapped, startling me.

"Sorry, I'm here to see Mr. Kingston"

"And you are?"

"Ariana Delaney." I answered, rocking on my toes.

"One of the desperados." She muttered as rolled her eyes at me.

"Excuse me? I'm his fiance." I flashed my ring, getting defensive all of a sudden.

I knew girls flocked around him, he's handsome and wealthy and all but I was not that kind of girl.

"Oh," She mouthed. Just then the intercom rang and she quickly picked it up.

"Yes sir,... No sir..I'm so sorry sir...I'll send her in right away."

I listened to the one sided conversation and before she could say anything further, I marched to the door which I had sighted at one end of the large hallway during the phone call.

I pushed it open without knocking.

"Mr Kingston," I started saying...

"Damien." He butted in.

"What?" I asked confusedly.

"It's Damien to you. It wouldn't be nice if my wife to be referred to me in such a professional tone, would it?" He said barely looking up from his computer.

"Right... Damien..." I tested the name on my tongue slowly.

"What's the problem?" He asked probably noticing my stance.

"The media is the problem,I've had to switch my phone off cause it's been buzzing all morning. I don't want any crazy blogger digging into my life and background because of this.." I explained worriedly.

"Relax, I have it under control. After today, it'll definitely reduce. Just keep your phone off." He advised.

"Seems like you're used to this kinda life." I finally sat down, at least this was a chance to get to know him a little.

"You could say that. You'll get used to it in no time." He said passively.

"Okay. When can I go home?"

He looked up immediately after my question.

"You want to leave?"

I nodded.

"Yes, I miss my apartment." I said truthfully.

"Or you miss that Nolan guy." He muttered irritatedly.

I was appalled.

"Where did that come from?" What did my friend have to do with it.

"I'll have you know that you're not allowed to be with any other man while you're married to me, so whatever it is you have with that guy should be brought to a halt." The icyness of his tone did nothing to scare me this time. How dare he insinuate such a silly thing!

"Excuse me, you have no right to control me and you better leave my friend out of this! I just want to go home!"

This man had succeeded in pissing me off thrice in a row. I had had it!

I picked up a pen and threw it at him, he dodged and it annoyed me even more.

"You're so annoying!" I huffed.

"Are you done?" He lifted an eyebrow looking bored. I ignored him but he went on talking anyway.

"We're meeting my parents by six pm today for a family dinner, they'd like to meet you."

I turned to him so quickly, I could've had whiplash while at it.

"Your outfit would be sent to you later today. Be ready on time." He said and gave me a look that said challenging him was a waste of time.

I turned to leave.

"After this, you can go back to New York if you'd like to."

I ignored him, although I was relieved he was letting me go. At least I wasn't trapped with him until the wedding which was in about a month's time.
