Hours went by with me thinking of what to wear. I barely had anything to wear indoors and now I had to prepare for a date.
I paced the room for a while deep in thought, until sleep drew me in.
Incessant knocks on the front door drew me out of my slumber and I trudged out to open it and was overwhelmed by the amount of ladies that trooped into my room.
"Excuse me, I think you're in the wrong suite" I tried to redirect them.
"You're Ariana right?" A certain woman asked surprising me.
"Yes, how do you know my name?"
"Oh sorry darling, it must be a surprise. We're from Mr. Kingston, he asked that we get you ready for your date tonight." She explained surprising me even more.
"Oh okay."
"Now now, go take a shower so we can get started, your date is by seven and it's past three already." She spun me around and pushed me towards the bedroom with her crew following closely behind.
The next few hours went by in a blur. So many hands, so much pricking, stretching, curling, poking and brushing. It was a lot to take in as I wasn't much of a glam person. I liked being simple.
But what knocked my breath out was the red sequin dress that was picked out for me. It was a little below knee length, off the shoulder and a body con dress that shone brightly in the light.
I tried the dress on and it fit like a glove and clung to my very obvious curves.
When I saw myself in the mirror, I couldn't believe it.My hair looked curly and way fuller. The make-up wasn't too much, it was simple but it enhanced my looks greatly especially with the bright red lipstick the make up artist put on me. I stared down at the sparkly Louboutin shoes he got me, they looked so expensive. The small and simple earrings made me smile, they were so elegant. The nails I had on were one of a kind and somehow matched with my outfit.
It was seven o'clock before I knew it and I was handed my matching clutch bag as I was ushered to the door by the girls.
When the door came open, I was met with his beautiful grey eyes. He was apparently shocked at the transformation or maybe not cause his face went blank right after.
"Hmm nice." He hummed with a nod in approval and stared back at the head of the make over team. I was offended at how he couldn't give as much as a proper compliment. I could've doubted how good I looked if I hadn't looked in the mirror before.
"Good job Stella."
"Thank you sir." She replied eagerly and left with her team soon after.
He turned to me after they exited the suite still checking me out. He looked so good in his black tux but I wasn't going to tell him that.
"Shall we?" He held his palm out to me and I hesitantly took it.
I followed him in silence. There was practically nothing to talk about.
He led us into his sleek black Rolls Royce Ghost. It took a lot of will power to not let my jaw drop. This car was true luxury. Just how rich was this man? I still hadn't googled him.
I sat at one end of the back seat, tapping on my laps uneasily while he was at his own end working on his laptop.
The drive continued with the awkward silence never leaving until we stepped out into a high class restaurant.
The moment we stepped out of the car, we were blinded by the flashing lights of cameras from different ends. My blood ran cold and I suddenly started to panic, I was going to start hyperventilating if it wasn't stopped. He held my hand and rubbed on it slowly, seems like he noticed how uncomfortable I was.
His security came out of nowhere and blocked the paparazzi from coming near us. They shielded us until we got into the restaurant successfully.
"How are you so famous?" I asked out of the blue. He just shrugged as he adjusted his cufflinks.
I shook my head and walked with him. He was given VIP treatment and we were being led to the VIP section when he stopped and asked them to give a seat in the middle of the restaurant where everyone else dined. I actually thought he wanted to be humble but I was so wrong.
Shortly after we were seated, he ordered wine for both of us and later on our meals. We ate in silence until out of nowhere he decided to make small talk.
"Did I tell you that that you look amazing tonight?"
I blushed besides myself, although I was shocked that he was saying that out of the blue. Why now?
"Thank you." I smiled at him and he gave me something close to a smile.
"You're welcome darling."
Darling? Now something was really wrong. Endearments were not something I ever expected to hear from someone like him.
He suddenly reached out to touch my face and when I tried pulling back, he held my chin.
"We're in public, remember what the contract states?" He gritted and I nodded slowly still uncomfortable with his touch.
"Act accordingly." He faked a smile and I did same.
He stood up and gave me a kiss on my forehead but I had to act like it was a norm for both of us.
Next thing I knew, he was on one knee with a ring in hand. I gasped, just as almost every woman in the room did.
Phones were up in the air and cameras flashed left and right. I burst into tears, I was sure everyone else thought it was happy tears but I was feeling trapped already. I was going to start living a lie and I wondered how I was going to pull it off.
"Ariana Delaney, will you marry me?" He finally asked.
"Yes, I'll marry you." I nodded and he slid the ring on my finger just as the people around cheered. Congratulations were in order and I had to keep a plastered smile on my face.
By the time we came out, he officially addressed the paparazzi.
"This is my bride to be and we'll be getting married in a month," He announced, horrifying me. I did well to hide my shock although I was not pleased.
"Right, my love?" He turned to me and planted a kiss on my forehead. I simply nodded in reply.
"Right." I managed to say with a fake smile plastered on my face covering up how overwhelmed I actually felt.
When we finally got into the vehicle on our way back to the hotel, I let him know that I was upset.
"Why didn't you tell me this whole charade of a date was for the media?" I asked angrily.
"I expect that you read the contract thoroughly and you're aware of what you signed up for. If you didn't, I suggest you go back to it. And, I do not, by any means, owe you an explanation for my actions." He said with such coldness in his tone that I shivered.
I kept to myself for the rest of the ride. I kept on questioning my sanity and wondering what on earth I had signed up for.
My life was about to change.
As soon as we arrived, I quickly got out of the vehicle and stomped to my suite shutting the door behind me. I stared down at the flashy gold diamond encrusted jewelry, I now had on my left ring finger. It was way too much for me. I didn't think I could fit into such a lifestyle, I just wanted to run and hide. In all my rage I took off my clothes, took a shower and slid under the covers. It seemed like a routine to be pissed off by this man. I slept off soon after wondering when it'll be possible to go back home, I missed my apartment. The next morning my phone was buzzing with calls and texts. News sure spread like wildfire. There was no way I could deny that it was me in those pictures. It was so obvious. Bloggers were soon to start digging deep into my details and that would become a bother so I ran straight to the main cause of all this chaos. I was told he was in his office and would not be available until much later but I couldn't wait. I was about leaving the suite, I spott
I stayed in my suite for the rest of the day. The thought of meeting his family had me nervous. It was too soon. It was quite understandable because the wedding was in just a month but I was still yet to recover from the shock of yesterday.I stared at my phone longingly for a few seconds. I had followed Damien's advise and put it off. I only managed to get a text across to my father to assure him that I was fine. I saw messages from Nolan but I couldn't bring myself to reply at that point. I sighed at the thought of how I was going to handle all the questions that he would throw at me. The contract had me bound and I could not disclose the truth to anyone except it was authorized. This was a heavy burden on my shoulders, I never lied but now my whole life was becoming one.I sat in a lotus position on the bed, staring out the window so deep in thought, I had shut my surroundings out."Ariana."It was funny, I thought my mi
"Damien!" A sweet female voice exclaimed out of nowhere. She looked dazzling with blonde hair and bright blue eyes but she had a petite frame and looked really small compared to Damien. Her outfit looked so expensive and I somewhat felt intimidated, I couldn't compete with that. "Hey mum..." He said with a little bit of a smile. Wait, what? I stared at him, mouth agape. Maybe it's just a nickname. I tried assuring myself. "How are you baby?" She asked fondly, bringing him close so she could place a peck on his cheek. "I'm fine mum, how are you?" He replied, still holding her close. "Hey bro!" A young handsome, blonde, blue eyed guy who seemed like the male version of the woman in front of me, came close and shook hands with Damien who glared at him. "What did I do this time?" The blonde dude rolled his eyes. "You weren't at the site to supervise the workers even after I instructed you to." Damien gritted sternly with a hard gaze on the poor guy. "Damien... Now, now, this isn't
Damien's POV; I looked to my left and realized that she was asleep already and she looked so adorable while at it. She had the most adorable pout on her lips as she slept and snored softly. In as much I did not give a damn what my family thought about her, I was somewhat relieved that they welcomed her warmly. Tracy was cold, however. I knew my mother would be over the moon because she was worried that I would never get to settle down. She was of the belief that I was closed off because I had no special someone in my life. I almost rolled my eyes at that, she believed in love and all those mushy stuff way too much. I looked back at Ariana who was getting more comfortable on the chair, moaning softly as she adjusted. This woman is beautiful but I couldn't tell her that, I didn't want her getting any ideas. I was marrying her just for my business and to boost my reputation in the eyes of the world. We had to be the perfect couple but only for the world to see. I couldn't let mys
After my obvious and somewhat embarrassing staring session, Damien led me into the jet. The interiors almost knocked me off my feet. It was so magnificent, I could live in there for the rest of my life. "You can sit now." He said sardonically. That was when I noticed he was already seated with his laptop placed in front of him. I was perplexed. Why was he seating comfortably? I watched one of the air hostesses hoist a black suitcase that obviously wasn't mine into the luggage compartments. "You're coming with me?" I asked dumbly. "What does it look like?" He answered in a clipped tone. "Yeah, sorry." I mumbled, taken aback by his terse response. I sat quietly and buckled up for the ride. We soon took off, I watched him from the corner of my eye as he continued working on his laptop while the plane was in the air. I played games on my phone for a while before drifting off into a short sleep. When I woke up, I had nothing to say to him, neither hi
I got into the vehicle after much deliberation. The whole thing was calling my neighbors' attention, something I had been trying to avoid. "Hey mum! Isn't she that hot guy's fiancée?!" I heard a teenager yell at her unsuspecting mother before I got in. I watched through the tinted glasses as they stared at the car dreamily. Only if they knew... I stared out the window for a while before staring down at my feet. It was then it occurred to me that the driver did not ask for directions before moving the vehicle. The roads were familiar but I did not understand how and why he would just decide to drive me without asking for my permission. "Where are we going?" I asked finally after much contemplation. "The boss said to take you to your father's place ma'am." And how did he know I wanted to go there? Was this man spying on me? Or, was he some creep that knew my every move before I took them? I frowned in distaste. The thought of Damien always having a say in my life more than I did,
Damien's POV; I smirked as soon as I heard her grunt. I had tricked her again. But I had to admit, this woman was really stubborn. I knew she was expecting an apology for what I said the previous day but I honestly did not see anything wrong with what I said. It just was not befitting of my bride to be to live in such a place. "Damien!" I heard her scream. "Yes?" "We're going to have to compromise on my returning to Los Angeles and no, I do not care what you have to say about it but I cannot leave in one week." She stomped her feet with her arms folded across her chest. "Fine. What do you want?" I said, crossing my arms on my chest and leaned back on the chair, facing her squarely. I could tell my reply greatly surprised her and deflated her annoyance. "I'll leave in two weeks but I'll help plan the wedding from here." She said meekly. It was so cute. No, Damien! Stop calling her sweet things in your head. "Okay." I said in response, confusing her even more. "
****My phone was buzzing again. Messages from different people came in from different social platforms, some congratulatory and others shrouded in envy over the fact that I had snagged a rich and dashingly handsome man.All this was overwhelming because before a few days ago I did not know this man existed and now that I had gotten engaged to him, I realized he was well known but for what exactly? I still had not googled him to find out about it. It always skipped my mind.I scrolled through the blogs and found some hateful comments, I shut my eyes and grimaced after reading through a few of them.My phone was taken out of my hand the next minute. I stared at him weakly, I had no energy to argue with him, it was just too exhausting."I'll advise that you do not read through comments on anything out there. It's not good for you." He said gently but I was already so frustrated that his gentleness irked me. It ca
