Chapter One
Sage's POV “You have to believe me, Sage. It all was a mistake. It was my fault he cheated on you. I am totally to blame for it all,” my husband's mistress sobbed as she sat before me, wiping her crocodile tears for the tenth time since she sat before me. She does not know how much I wanted to smile with joy and pour myself a glass of alcohol to celebrate the appearance of a tangible reason to divorce my husband. “I do not mind being his mistress,” she suddenly said, kneeling in front of me to reach out to grab my hands. “I promise, I'll make sure to stay out of your way, and if my child is born, I can leave if you want. But you would not want me away from my child, would you? I'll have to stay with him for a while.” I wasn't a fool; I understood what she was trying to do perfectly, and I wasn't complaining. It was going better than I had anticipated. “Please, say something, Sage.” As I was about to open my mouth to voice out something, the door was suddenly flung open, and I saw my husband standing there, looking panicked. “What are you doing here, Emily?” He said, clearly rushing over after hearing she had arrived to meet me. “You're here, sweetheart.” I smiled at him sweetly, and I could see him shiver a bit. It was so unlike me to take things calmly, but I was just tired of this marriage anyway. We've been married for three good years, and I only married him at that time because I needed a partner in order to get a couple of contracts and make my parents get off my back. I loved him at first, but it was not deep enough to get married. I realized he was cheating on me a year into the marriage, and the only reason he was staying with me was for my money. Of course, I had a lot of it, so when the time was right, I would finally divorce him, and this was the perfect time to do so. “You should have told me about the baby sooner, sweetheart.” I said, faking a sad smile before turning back to Emily, who was still grabbing my hands. I was a perfect actress, so unless you knew me for a very long time, you would know the intentions behind my act. You might even be with me for years and still know nothing about how I act. “Emily, you are welcome to stay here anytime you like. You can even move in today if you want.” I patted her hands gently with a smile. “But I took your man, and we had an affair outside your marriage.” “Emily, that is enough!” Theo thundered, and we both shot our looks in his direction. “It's not what you think it is, Sage. I can explain to you.” “I already understood since she stepped in, sweetheart, and it would be so nice for you to have a baby since I'm not ready for one now. You could have just told me about her before now, so I wouldn't be surprised.” I tutted, and I could see the mixed feelings in his expression. “I did not know she would become pregnant. I'm so sorry if it hurt you.” He laughed nervously, rubbing the back of his neck while exchanging glances with Emily. “I have a gift for you. It's impromptu, but I hope you appreciate it.” I said, standing up while heading up the stairs leading to our room. “Give me a few minutes.” I walked up into my study, picking up the only file in the empty room. I had them empty my things while Emily was waiting for my entry approval. I had a lot of houses, so leaving this one won't be anything special. As I walked out of the study and down the stairs, I paused to listen to their conversation. “I told you it was okay to tell her about this. She didn't even scream or shout about it and just welcomed me.” I heard Emily say to him. “But, Emily, I still wanted to have her so I could use her money. I bought you the bag and shoes you requested, and we agreed you wouldn't come to her until I'm done with that project with the project manager. We can get millions, and we can get out of here with it.” I leaned against the railings slightly to listen in on their conversation with a small smile. He was so easy to read. He thought he could just fool me and get away with everything. You just wait and see the bitch you're dealing with, motherfucker. Tapping the file in my hand gently, I headed down the stairs, and I heard their conversation stop as they said well on the seat they were on together. “Did I take long? Sorry, it took me a while to get this,” I smiled brightly, handing it over to Theo. “Don't open it yet. It's a surprise.” “And one thing, Emily, sweetie,” she turned to look in my direction. “You didn't steal my man. You were just doing me a favor I really much needed.” Theo opened the file, and when he scanned through the entire thing, I could see the shock in his eyes as he looked at me, hands trembling. “Sage,” his voice cracked as he pointed at the file. “A divorce? And an arrest warrant?” Emily looked shocked too, and she could say a word. “That's my gift to you. You probably wouldn't be out of jail to enjoy the house I would like to give you, but, too bad, you just had to embezzle a lot of funds from my company.” “But I didn't do that, Sage. You have to believe me. This must have been some kind of setup or mix-up to think that way. You know me well, Sage.” He pleaded, trying to come over to me, but I stopped him by raising a hand. “What do you mean? Project manager Kang has been arrested and testified to working with you to get the company's funds. I would have taken it easier on you since we were supposed to be married, but now that your mistress finally came out herself, I guess we can just end things here,” I smiled before turning to look at Emily. “Or what do you think, Emily, sweetie?” “You can't do this,” she protested. “I can't have the father of my child in jail.” “No need to worry, sweetie. He'll just be in jail for, let's see, fifteen years or more to atone for his crimes. You can come over, and I'll get you a job sometimes.” I stood up with a smile while removing my wedding ring and handing it over to Emily. “It's yours to keep. It should be worth something since he got it with my money anyway.” I said with a sweet smile before walking out of the living room. “See you in hell, Theodore Lee.” “Sage, listen to me.” His voice got muffled as the door behind me was closed and my assistant was standing there with her arms folded and a frown. “Come on, Violet. I'm just thirty minutes late. I had to deal with them.” I chuckled before getting into my car with a fulfilled look. I'm Sage Willows, CEO of Phoenix Estates, and a real bad bitch.Chapter Two Sage's POV “Aaahhh, so life is this perfect,” I exhaled, sinking deeper into the warm, fragrant bath, a smile of satisfaction spreading across my face as I looked down at the glowing city from my penthouse. I have not been this free and satisfied since before I met Theodore. I didn't care what he was doing right now, but I knew he should be welcomed by his cellmates by now, and whoever that Emily bitch was can drop dead. “Boss, you have a lot of paperwork to attend to.” I heard Violet's voice from the other side of the door. “Do you ever talk about anything but work, Violet?” I pouted, shaking the glass wine in my hand gently, not peeling my gaze from the dark city filled with dots of lights beneath me. “No, I don't, Boss.” She replied bluntly, and I just wanted to stuff her with alcohol, but I knew I was going to regret it. She was a very light drinker, and her drunken state wasn't the one I could deal with on a daily basis. “I am going down to the club to t
Chapter ThreeSage's POV Without his approval, I walked over to him, and in no time I was standing in front of him. From that, I could measure out our height difference nicely, as he was much taller than my petite self, reaching just his chest. His cologne was a mixture of ocean scent and rain scent, and I just wanted to drown in it as I sat on the sink, looking up at his flustered face while pulling off my shoes. “I didn't expect you to be the shy type, but now you're totally even more of my type.” I said, grabbing his rock-hard cock with my legs, making him throw his head back, trying to stiffle a moan. He was trying hard to keep in, but as my feet moved up and down, rubbing him together, he let out a groan. “Fuck… I want your mouth,” his deep baritone made my stomach tingle, and a smirk appeared on my face as I got off, kneeling before him while looking up at him. His face immediately flushed as I stared up at him naughtily, grabbing his cock, and a soft gasp escaped his lips.
Chapter FourDiego's POVMy heart thumped in my chest as I saw the woman I was seated before was the same one from the club last night. I couldn't sleep all night because she was on my mind, and right now, looking at her, my body was acting instinctively. Unlike her wild look yesterday, she looked more professional, and it made me feel hot knowing she didn't have just one side to her. So she was the famous Sage Willows with the reputation of having the best work in town but could also be ruthless and sweet, which was a weird word to stand side by side. She didn't act like she knew me at all during the entire meeting, which made my heart drop and at the same time made me quite intrigued to play the game she was trying to. “Will you love to check out the estate with us now?” Her assistant asked, and my gaze finally shifted to her since she was directing her question to me. “No problem.” I gave a nod of approval, and we all left for the estate they had built just for me. I would be s
Chapter FiveSage's pov He gritted his teeth, and he let out a sigh as I positioned myself below him. His submissive side was in play as he watched me dominate him.I grabbed his button and unbuttoned it, but the familiar footsteps of our assistants held me back."I guess today isn't your lucky day, Papi," I said as I slid off his length."What?" He asked in a whisper, and I could tell that he was confused by my words."Our assistants are here," I informed and arranged my shirt while I spoke.I could hear him curse under his breath as he arranged his clothes, and I knew that he was disappointed by such wrong timing.I would have been too if I wasn't satisfied.I turned to him with a bright smile, one that could pierce through anything, and I saw the defeat in his eyes. He wanted me so badly. The door swung open, and the assistants walked in.The deal was concluded, and I was sure that Diego's mind was divided."It was a pleasure, Ms. Sage," Diego turned to me with a handshake and a s
Chapter SixSAGE'S pov After some time in a Zoom meeting call with my partners, the issue was resolved, and I discovered that the wrong documents were given to them.I settled it professionally and got off the call with them on a good note. With a frown, I turned to Violet, who stared blankly at me with a tab in her hands."Who issued the documents?" I inquired with a frown, and she looked down at her tab once before answering, "Victoria from the management team.""Fire her, and let her know the silly mistake she's made so she won't try it anywhere else," I ordered, sitting behind my personal computer. Violet gave me a suspicious gaze, and I knew her long enough to know that it had nothing to do with Victoria or the issue with the clients that had been settled. "Say it." I met Violet's suspicious gaze, and she held the tab beside her waist before clearing her throat. "Mr Ivanova?" "Come on, Violet, there's nothing between me and Diego." I protested, but she maintained a suspicio
CHAPTER SEVENChapter SevenSAGE'S pov "Good day ma'am, the boss asks that you come with me immediately," Justin informed with a slight bow.Justin was my father's butler, but he shouldered more than what a butler would do. He was the only one my parents could send for such a secretive and urgent matter.I turned to Violet, and she gave me a courageous nod in response. No words were needed. She knew that I was going in for questioning, and the nod was to encourage me to face them.Justin stepped aside, still slightly bowed. He gestured towards the car parked right before the entrance, and I walked to it without arguments. Maybe it was time to let the cat out of the bag once and for all. I sighed and fixed my gaze outside the window of the car. "Would you like some music ma'am?" Justin asked with a light smile "I'm good, Justin, thanks." Justin had almost worked forever for my dad, and the family had grown fond of him. He knew when to speak and when to keep mute. When to smile an
Chapter EightSAGE'S pov "Calm down Dad, what other lesson do you intend to teach him? Besides, he's already a sorry soul. " My smirk turned to a smile as I couldn't help but admire my father's aggression.I knew he could make life a living hell for Theodore, but I didn't want him to stress over someone as irrelevant as him. Besides, I wanted to handle him myself. Theodore was my catch, and I was going to roast him to my taste. My parents' faces suddenly held pity for me but I didn't want that, I was so happy Theodore messed up, he allowed me to get the divorce I'd always craved and I was grateful for everything that made it possible for him to cheat and steal from me.Including his mistress, who got pregnant for him and refused to abort it.'Okay! Now is the time to go.' My parent's pitiful faces made me conclude within myself. One more minute in the same space with them could lead to hours of words of encouragement.I didn't have such time, and I had more issues settling outside t
CHAPTER 9 SAGE'S POV “Sit” Diego said. He was calm and being reserved and this greatly scared me. His gentle and soft tone didn't make it any good, I was nervous a little bit but I had to maintain my composure hiding the fear evident in my eyes. “Diego, what do you want from me now?” I said already sat. “Why did you bring these to my workplace, what are you trying to do now?” I added. He smiled for a minute and offered a solution. “What solution?” I asked. “I thought you wanted a solution to all this” he smiled. He smiled again! Diego was so corny and not knowing what he had on his sleeves made me more anxious. I wanted to rip and tear his lips all apart but he was willing to provide a solution, as he claimed. “We just have to play our cards right Sage, this rumor and picture can not help us out of this dilemma we are in already” he said. “What do you mean by playing along Diego, this already ruined part of my business and it's frustrating me” I responded. “Just calm
