-EMILY-

He wasn’t there no more. It seemed to have been an illusion of some sort but then I couldn’t be dreaming with my eyes opened.

The mysterious creatures had somehow been petrified, their eyes lingering all over me as I watched them sway like plants in the autumn.

“Run! Run!” My head kept screaming, the pressure pumps from the air drawing my heart into a stringent race. The car stood there, blood on the windscreen.

I jerked myself off the floor, running back to the car. They weren’t coming after me, but their eerie gazes weren’t still able to avert. I had to get out of here.

With a shrug, I pulled the back door open, Mom’s head falling into my arms. She wasn’t hurt in the head but her hand had been cut open. I tugged on my T-shirt, ripping it into a mediocre-sized bandage, tying her hands down to help stop the blood.

“Mom!” I tapped her, but she didn’t answer. She was still breathing, the sound of her thumping heart penetrating my ears.

As I held her, I could feel the way her blood curled up and moved along the capillaries, the ones moving towards the valves of her veins rushing as it boiled faster than water. Her temperature was rising fast; she needed quick medical attention.

I couldn’t drive; I had failed my driver’s test 20 times in a row, and I wouldn’t want to endanger her life anymore.

There was no one in sight, littered with human flesh and bones all over. Was this the end? My head kept banging as I searched for a solution.

“Honey!” A car pulled up before us, Dad sitting in the driver’s seat. He rushed out, lifting Mom onto his shoulder.

“Something crawled up… took the driver by the neck…” He didn’t bother listening or asking if I was okay. He just rushed her over to his car.

The mysterious creatures had suddenly begun to move, coming closer bit by bit. Dad somehow wasn’t able to get the car unlocked, his hands trembling with groans escaping each time he touched the handle.

“Blood!” The wails grew louder than before.

They began moving in different directions, keeping us close as they formed a circle. They were moving faster than the speed of light, but I could see them, their heads tilting to the back as they passed by.

“Blood! Blood!”

“Dad, the door!” I yelled.

“It’s too hot; it wouldn’t bulge.” He groaned, his hands scorched.

I rushed over, grabbing the door. With a heave, I pulled the car door open, nodding in appraisal. Dad staggered back, his eyes widened as he stared at me.

I gazed at my hand; it was burnt, but I wasn’t feeling any form of pain. I gazed back at him, his shocked look still plastered on his face. He was definitely going to question me even though I knew nothing about how I knew no pain.

“Blood!” One of the creatures suddenly appeared before us, its eyeballs all white with its fang up. It grabbed Dad by the neck, shoving Mom onto the car’s bumper.

“Blood!” He chorused.

“Leave my dad.” I grabbed it by the arm, trying to get him off, but it was futile. With a groan he sent me flying, my back arching as I hit the edge of a stair.

“Emily!” Dad cried.

Suddenly, my heart began to beat in twos, my breathing yielding in a different form. I began to hear drums, my eyes becoming hotter by the second. I could feel pains in my mouth; something was growing, four to be precise.

“Get away from my dad!” I heard myself say, The pain all subsided.

“Is that you, Emily?” Dad managed to say as he choked.

My body moved on its own, my hands grabbing the beast within minutes. I slammed my fist into its chest, the force enough to puncture a steel iron in minutes.

It cried as I kept slamming my fist onto it, green liquids flowing from its body. “DIE!” I grabbed it by the neck, my mouth tearing away at his neck.

It came falling like a log of wood as I spat out its flesh.

“Emily?” Dad went on his knees, his eyes bloodshot with tears rolling down his eyes. “What have you become?”

I stared at my hands, the green stains all over me. My muscles were the same, but the weight was far more than before; my legs also felt stronger, my eyes now gold in color, and my hair deviating to the same color as my eyes.

What had I become?

“Blood!” They had reinforced more than I can handle even if I decided. From the looks of it, they were ranging from 60 to 100, newborns.

“They are getting closer,” Dad yelled.

Two grabbed me by the arm almost immediately, their strength causing me to go on my knees. I managed to slam my fist into their fist, knocking the both of them out, but more came, holding me down.

“Get off me!!!” I screamed as they piled up on me, stopping me from taking a single step.

“You’re not going anywhere, guardian.” One of them whispered in my ear. I groaned, trying to stand despite the tough pull they had on me.

They had formed a circle around my parents, gradually closing the gap between them. There was no way I could lose the weight and run towards them; it was too late; I can’t help them.

The wind began to move In different directions, the temperature growing by the minute. The street lamps began to crumble just like they had done the day of the accident, the earth crumbling as the ground quaked.

“Seems you could use a little help, little vamparina.” A masculine voice resonated in the air.

Vamparina?

There he stood, along with my parents, his eyes red, his black dreadlocks running down along his face, his muscles big, merging perfectly with his physique, his perfectly chiseled jawline with a black cloak on.

“Blood!” They groaned.

“Back to the underworld.” He said as he raised his hands.

The air stood still, flame engulfing the creatures in a minute. Groans filled the air as they began to disintegrate into soot, flowing along with the wind.

“You’re welcome.” His deep voice reverberated as I walked towards him.

All I could smell was his sinister scent as I closed the gap between us. He was more trouble than the others, his heartbeat faster than a car’s tires at the highest speed. He wasn’t human for sure.

“Who are you?”
