-DAMIAN-

I stared out the window, waiting for the package I had ordered several hours ago. It was supposed to show up before nightfall, but it was getting dark, and there were still no signs.

The package was the only thing that could stop me from feasting on these weaklings who called themselves humans. It was the only thing that had reduced my killing rate over the century, and I planned on keeping it like that.

Being the Supreme Vampire that the others bowed down to, I had every right to have what I desired. Including that lady who I had saved. The aura emanating from her body was strong enough to hold me down for a thousand years if she rebelled; that couldn't happen.

My fangs began to emerge as the sun retired for the day; I had to get the delivery before I couldn't get a hold of myself anymore.

"Sire, something's wrong." Oliver, my left-hand man, appeared next to me. He was faster than the speed of light, but he was weaker than a roach in strength.

"Yeah, I haven't had my lunch, and I'm starting to lose it. The cartels had promised to get me a criminal's blood before nightfall, but they haven't shown up. I'm afraid some of them will go missing." I groaned, my eyeballs shifting into a stroke.

"I'm sorry about that, Sire. The thing is we are in trouble." He trembled, his eyes dilating as he stared at the clouds.

What could be crazier than me not having my supply of blood before I go on a rampage? Breaking nature's law to keep the balance had never been my style.

"Someone attacked the Lair, killed twelve of your prized bodyguards, and stole the First Chronicle from your Chambers."

"Did what?" I grabbed his neck, feeling his hard neck bone in my arms. I heard him groan as the sound of his crushed-up bone filled the air.

He stared at me, unable to speak. From the sound of his heartbeat, he wouldn't survive. If he didn't go back to the underworld. He hadn't adapted to the conditions the Earth had placed on us; he was mortal here.

"Get back to the underworld; I'll get the Chronicle back." I pushed him away, letting him fall to the ground. He managed a bow before running off with his head tilted towards the ground.

This was truly bad news. The First Vampire Chronicle, "Lamia," is the first vampire origin book with the power to end and create all vampires. I had stolen it from the Guardian a thousand years back in order to prevent us from being wiped out of existence as we walked the earth.

The young guardian, "Momo the Great," as he called himself, had decided to leave it for us at the cost of locking us all away in the underworld and making sure the Ancient Vampire King didn't return. I had agreed with him, watching him seal my loyal subjects while I hid in a corner with my board members.

"Mom, there's going to be a thunderstorm." The voice of a little kid penetrated my ears. I gazed up, staring at the swirling clouds.

The sight of golden inscriptions on the clouds made my heart beat rapidly. It couldn't be; there was no way he could have escaped the first Guardian's seal.

"Monsters!" Wails filled the air as newborns began to emerge from the gutters.

"Mom, are we going to die?" The little kid's voice came once again. I tilted my head, watching the newborn's head for them.

"Blood!" They chorused, their hands swinging forth. I was starting to lose it faster than usual; I also needed blood.

"Someone help us!" The lady's scream crept into me; my senses peaked instantly. The scent of blood lingering above my nose.

"Vanish with the others!" Heat emanated from beneath, burning them to ashes.

"Thank you, Mister." The lady managed to say as her lips went numb from the frequent screaming. I raised my head, letting them stare at their hero.

"Monster!" The little kid screamed, throwing a little stone at me. I caught it halfway, crushing it into powder before his eyes.

"Get out of here before I change my mind." I grunted.

I ran forward, tracking the center of the swirling clouds. The book has to be in there, burning with intense flames to release the Ancient Vampire King "Vada.".

If he manages to get out of the chronicles, I wouldn't be the Vampire King anymore. He was the first elemental vampire, blessed by the witches of the four cardinals. He couldn't be killed; everyone who attempted it died without getting a chance to tell the tales.

"King Damian." Sabrina's voice stung.

I halted my steps, waiting for her to catch up to me. She arrived seconds later, her hands gripping onto a bottle of blood. "You'll need this for your strength; we don't know what's on the mountaintop."

I knew what it was. The mountain was the Ancients vampire lair years back; he couldn't let it go, not now at least.

"Momo the Guardian has somehow been killed by the Shadow Striga. There's no guardian to stop his rule; we have to do this ourselves." She held up a grin, blood dripping from her mouth.

"Let's do this…" I gulped down the last drops of blood from the bottle, sending her instructions with my eyes.

The humans had all run into their homes, giving us a proper sight of the mountains. As we closed the gap between us and the mountain, I couldn't believe my eyes.

Long silver rods stood at opposite ends, flames burning between them. A black seal held the silver bars in place, stopping it from opening.

"Sire, we have to hurry; the inscriptions in the clouds have begun to fade." Sabrina let out. She was trying her best not to give up having only strength and agility alone.

"Wait!" I grabbed her by the waist, jumping into the river next to us. I could feel her heart flutter at my touch, or maybe it was the fish that had tickled her feet.

"My Lord, the mountain is up ahead; we don't have time to take a dip." She swallowed hard.

"We're too late, Sabrina."

"What do you mean, my Lord?"

"The gate of the underworld has been unlocked."
