“Give Barbara another chance?” Richard asked in bewilderment, with his lips slightly parted.

Emily nodded in affirmation.

All through the night, she stayed wide awake, with different thoughts forcing their way into her brain.

Yes! She loved being with Richard because she was in love with him, and he was her first love at that. However, she kept thinking of Barbara and how she wasn’t being fair in the situation.
