“What is this?” Barbara asked again, looking around in disgust and moving away from the flowers as though they were a plague.

Richard clenched his fist but quickly wore a smile.

“You know, I thought that I should make use of roses to describe how beautiful and special you are to me. Most times, words alone can’t describe that”, Richard announced as he stretched out his hands for Barbara to cling on.

All these were Emily’s idea, and he could sense that it wasn’t great.

Barbara took a step backward again and narrowed her eyes to the roses scattered on the floor.
