Chapter six

Rosa had spent the night tossing and turning in bed, her pillow tightly tucked beside her and her blanket wrapped like a second skin.

Desperate for a cigar and some shots to clear her head but equal parts afraid of causing any harm to the unborn child who was growing in her, oblivious of the pain and uncertainty it had brought to her life.

But she was too scared to light a cigarette, too scared to take that much-needed shot of tequila, which was ironic seeing as she had made up her mind to terminate the pregnancy the very next day.

The following morning, as she stood in front of the mirror adjusting her dress her reflection was a far cry from what she was used to seeing. Bracing herself for whatever was lying ahead, Rosa got set for the hospital.

She had been lucky there was an open spot at the clinic for the doctor to fit her in, dabbing her cheeks with a dusting of blush, something to bring back a little life to her face, Rosa was set to leave.
