CHAPTER SIXTEEN DARIUS She ran away! She ran away!!I chanted in my head as I paced the living room. Xander went to check how she was able to exit the mansion as none of the guards at the entrance caught sight of her. I couldn't sit still until he came back. I'd never thought she would take such drastic measures that could hurt her just because she wanted to get away from me. I had guards stationed in front of her room earlier Incase she wanted to run away. But she climbed out of the window. I should have never underestimated her ability to escape, she did escape from me once after all, when Lucian first sold her to me. She must have gotten slightly hurt from the high jump. The thought there might be some bruises on her beautiful skin made my heart race faster than it already was. I silently prayed that Xander doesn't tell me that she scaled through the fence. “She escaped through the small gate in the garden.” Xander said as he rushed in. “Okay good, we're heading
CHAPTER SEVENTEEN MELISSA I can't believe this. I can't believe any of this is happening to me. I watched as Darius exited the mansion with Xander and two other guards. I screamed and threw the glass of wine I was holding on the wall. It shattered on impact. Hazel! Hazel!! Hazel!!! Ever since she set foot inside this mansion everything as always been about her. Darius's world basically revolves around her. He wouldn't even take a piss if he doesn't see Hazel. He doesn't even care that I'm carrying his baby. He is just so concerned about his stupid mate. “What are you all staring at? Clean the god damn floor. Do you want the glasses the pierce my leg and cripple me?” I yelled at the maids who were standing at a corner staring at me. They scrambled around to get the brush and clean the floor. I used to be the center of Darius's attention before Hazel came. He even wanted to send me packing just because he found his mate. It's all because of that stupid mating bond.
CHAPTER EIGHTEEN HAZEL I woke up feeling refreshed and new. Except for the bandage on my ankle and a few bruises on my arm, I wasn't hurt too much and I certainly don't feel much pains. Darius made sure a doctor attended to me last night even though it was really late when we got back to the mansion. A small smile touched my lips as the memories of how he took care of me rushed into my mind. I quickly shook my head. I stood up and walked to the bathroom to freshen up and get ready for the day. I stepped out of the bathroom after a few minutes and walked to the closet to look for what to wear. A knock resounded on the door. “Come in.” I said, thinking it was one of the maids that came with breakfast. I still haven't cultivated the habit of going down for breakfast. The door opened with a slight creak and Darius walked in. I was still in my bathrobe which I clung tightly to my chest now. He turned his back on me, giving me a bit of privacy. “Why did you tell me to
CHAPTER NINETEEN HAZEL I head towards the stairs but something suddenly hit my memory, and I made a turn to the kitchen. I wanted to see Britney and apologize for my behavior towards her the other day. I shouldn't have forced her to give me directions to the dungeon and make her break her work protocol. When I entered the kitchen, I saw three maids who immediately stopped what they were doing when they saw me. They bowed slightly. I recognized one of them as the other maid I saw with Britney in the kitchen the other day. “Good morning to you too. Please, can you tell me where I can find Britney?” I asked. They all exchanged glances but kept their mouth shut. I found that really weird. “Is there something wrong? Did she resign?” I asked. I wouldn't be surprised if she did. She might want to avoid Darius's wrath and quickly run away before he could get to her. “No ma'am, she didn't.” One of the maids said. “Where is she then?” I asked, getting worried as the time p
CHAPTER TWENTY MELISSA I had watched as Darius exited the dining hall, gritting my teeth in anger. I had just made a scene by choking on my food but he just shoved me off and asked a maid to fetch me water. A maid. Really? But when ‘the stupid Hazel’ choked, he was fawning over her as if she just got shot. He didn't even care if something had happened to his baby at that moment. He was just so focused on Hazel. He even allowed her to sit in my seat. She is gradually replacing me in her life and I would not allow it. “I’m going to my room, bring my food up.” I had said to the maid standing next to me, after Darius and hus stupid made had left. But the maid was still standing with her head bowed which tickled my anger to burst into flames. “Are you deaf? Why are you still standing there?” I had yelled at her, throwing my crutches at her, totalling forgetting myself.“Bring the crutches to me now.” I ordered. Everyone in this mansion is just driving me nuts. *.*.I s
CHAPTER TWENTY ONE HAZEL Tears stung at the corner of my cheek as I watched Melissa's retreating figure. “Are you okay, my lady?” Britney asked as she examined my body. “I'm fine.” I said and smiled through the tears. “Her fingers left a print on your cheek, it's red. And your arms are covered in bruises, let me get a first aid kit real quick.” Britney said as she made to stand from the ground. “I'm fine, Britney, really. Can you please help me grab a scarf inside? I don't want anyone to see me like this, especially Darius.” I said. She didn't argue further and just helped me stand up from the ground. I sat on the bench and Britney went inside. I sat alone with my thoughts, Melissa's words came back to haunt me. I knew Melissa didn't want me here, she made that very clear since the first time she set her eyes on me. But that doesn't make her words any less hurtful. I threw my head back and sighed. I closed my eyes enjoying the quiet atmosphere. “You're here, I was loo
CHAPTER TWENTY TWO DARIUSI tapped my pen on the desk, deep in thoughts. Xander brought a letter to me that the Alpha of the Crimson wolves pack has declared war against us. Apparently, he got wind of how I trespassed his territory and killed two of his pack members. He tagged them ‘important members of the pack'. Normally, I wouldn't be this bothered about a war. I thrive on violence. But things were different now. I have a mate and a child on the way and I'll protect them with everything at my disposal. The Crimson wolves pack have always find reasons to pick on us because of how close our packs are and I have never hesitated to retaliate against them. But a war seems bad at this time. Especially when there is an unknown pack that has infiltrated my pack and I still can't find them. I don't know how much information they have managed to collect about my pack or how deadly those informations might be. I had hopes to convince Liam, the Alpha of the Crimson wolves pa
CHAPTER TWENTY THREE HAZEL I stared at my reflection in the mirror unable to believe my eyes. I wore the dress Darius sent to me earlier this morning. It was an emerald green floor length evening gown made with silk fabric, it has a subtle neckline and delicate straps that drape over the shoulder. The bodice is fitted, accentuating the curves with a low back design that dips down to the waist. It has a long train attached to it.Britney did my makeup and hair. Thankfully, she was able to cover the red marks on my face with make up. She packed my hair into a bun leaving a few strands on my face. “You look so beautiful, ma'am.” She gushed. “Thank you, Britney.” I replied giving her a small smile. “You should go downstairs. His Majesty is waiting by the car.” She said. I grabbed the green purse on the dresser and wore the high heels. I wobbled slightly as I made to stand up. “Careful ma'am,” Britney said as she steadied me on my feet. “Thank you.” I took one last l
