CHAPTER FOURTEEN

HAZEL

I tried to wiggle out of the net again but it keeps going higher up the tree each time I fought. It continued that way until I ran out of strength and decided to stay put.

The urge to eat the wild fruit disappeared and I just let it fall on the net.

In about half an hour, three men emerged from the bushes with hunting bows and arrows strapped on their backs and at that moment, Isis began to wimper inside me. It was when realisation dawned on me that I've been caught in a trap meant for rogues.

They stared up to look at me.

“Looks like our trap captured a rogue after all.” One of the men said flashing his brown teeth at me.

“ I'm not a rogue, there has been some misunderstanding.” I said with teary voice, and felt my face wet with tears.

One of the men walked towards the tree and cut the rope holding the net to the tree. I fell down on the ground with a thud. I winced in pain as I felt a sharp sting on my kneecap, then wiggled out of the net and the fruit
