Chapter 79: Her Anti-hero

Ava's POV

Memorial Garden Cemetery.

It sounded familiar. I thought I had heard it before, and I had a funny feeling in the pit of my stomach as we headed down the cemetery, but I wasn't sure.

I had never actually been to my parents' graveyard since their funeral, which was a really long time ago. It had been over a decade, and there was so much I had forgotten in the haze of my grief.

Losing my parents at such an age had been tough on me. Aunt Mary had brought me to Chicago shortly after the funeral, and since then, we had never gone back. Chicago just sort of became my new home.

Aunt Mary had once mentioned my parents and suggested that I visit their graves. It was a few days before the wedding day.

We talked for a long time that night, and I remembered considering making a trip back here after that conversation, but when I mentioned it to Fernando, he turned it down immediately, coming up with an excuse.
