Miguel's POV

I woke up to Ava sprawled next to me under the sheets. The sun's rays spilled across the room, scattering on her face and illuminating her entire features.

A grin crossed my lips at how beautiful she looked. It was like a dream come true —she was a dream come true.

I ran a finger through her hair. She was really here.

Last night really happened. I caressed her cheek softly, taking every chance to touch her before this moment could slip away. Last night had felt like a dream, and honestly, I wouldn't have been too shocked if it had turned out to be exactly that.

I had spent the past few days since she returned here having vivid dreams about her —Sex dreams that were really just a reflection of how badly I wanted her in my bed.

I trailed a finger through her hair and down her arm while watching her sleep soundly. My fingertips slipped down her milky skin, and I could notice some movement under her lids.

She was a light sleeper, apparently.

My finger stopped at her e

She looked so peaceful, innocent, and amazing in her sleep. My cock twitched.Merda.There was no way I would wake her and not kiss those beautiful lips. Considering how many times we went at it last night, she had to be tired. I had to let her rest. She looked so peaceful in her sleep yet so sexy, I would be a monster to ruin it.I just couldn't do it. I couldn't ruin this amazing look she had on her face, so I decided to take a few pictures to immortalize the moment first. I clicked a few pictures, then more. When I was done, I scrolled through the pic

Ava's POVMemorial Garden Cemetery. It sounded familiar. I thought I had heard it before, and I had a funny feeling in the pit of my stomach as we headed down the cemetery, but I wasn't sure. I had never actually been to my parents' graveyard since their funeral, which was a really long time ago. It had been over a decade, and there was so much I had forgotten in the haze of my grief. Losing my parents at such an age had been tough on me. Aunt Mary had brought me to Chicago shortly after the funeral, and since then, we had never gone back. Chicago just sort of became my new home.Aunt Mary had once mentioned my parents and suggested that I visit their graves. It was a few days before the wedding day. We talked for a long time that night, and I remembered considering making a trip back here after that conversation, but when I mentioned it to Fernando, he turned it down immediately, coming up with an excuse.According to him, he was too busy to leave Chicago, but thinking about it no

Ava's POV Miguel and I had spent the last two weeks visiting the cemetery after that one emotional evening. It was something like a routine because I felt bad that I had never visited them all these years until now. I felt obliged to make it up to them, so I decided to come often and chat with the headstones as everyone did. I was not alone in this.Miguel had been persistent enough to tag along each time, and honestly, It was pretty nice being there with him than being there alone. I was glad to have him by my side. There was also something remarkable about him coming with me besides it being comfortable —being there with him gave our relationship more depth than I could ever put into words. Our worlds were constantly entangled into one, which was relieving in many ways. Miguel had seen me in all shades that even Fernando had never experienced in all his years of knowing me.He had watched me break down so many times and helped pull me back together repeatedly. He knew me better th

Ava's POVMy eyes shot to the small building before us. The beauty blew my mind. Yet it was only a simple diner. “What are we doing here?” I arched my brow.“You'll see,” he mumbled, holding his hand out to me to take it but I was still frozen. “Come on, my hand hurts,” Miguel grumbled, darting his gaze to his hand, “Aren’t you coming?”“Of course I am,” I took Miguel's hand and stepped out of the car, holding his gaze. He smiled and slammed the door behind me before moving beside me.He clutched my hand tighter, “Shall we?” He asked. I turned to him, “Let’s go,” he led me toward the diner's entrance and pushed the door open as we walked inside. It was empty. There was not a single customer inside or anybody lurking around. What was going on? My mind was all over the place. What was he doing? The inside was adorned with twinkling fairy lights, giving it a cozy appeal that made it feel like our own little world. It was really beautiful, and I could not stop grinning as my eyes

Miguel's POVAva was going to be my wife. She made me the happiest man alive. Her presence made my life more meaningful. The world suddenly turned colorful and I found myself smiling more than I normally would. All the days that followed my proposal to her were the most beautiful days. I didn't think I had ever known what happiness really felt until then.I thought I was happy. When I killed people, the satisfaction was pleasing; when I struck a deal of millions of dollars, it was thrilling but nothing was as beautiful as the thought of having Ava for the rest of my life. But that night, as I went down on my knees, my heart had threatened to rip out of my chest when she said yes. Each time I thought of it, my heart still acted up like it was happening all over again. That moment was frozen in my mind, embedded forever and I couldn't forget it even if I wanted to. Ava’s confession and answer had been the highlight of that night and my life. It felt like a dream, but it wasn't. It wa

Miguel's POV I put my arm around Ava, “Well, now that you've seen for yourself. What do you think?” I arched my brow, pulling Ava closer into my arms and brushing my hand through her hair.Sophia smiled, “I think you guys look great together.”I swirled my head to Ava, “Did you hear that? We look great together,” I brushed a hand down her hair and kissed her lips again slowly. “Oh!” Perez groaned, coming down the stairs, “You guys should get a room or something.”I kissed her for a minute longer before breaking the kiss with a loud pop sound, only to irritate Perez further.I turned to him the minute I pulled back. He scowled as our eyes met, and I found it gladdening. Surely, all was right in this world.“Maybe we should find you a woman, Perez. You're getting cranky. You probably need your engine oil,” I teased, and the guards laughed.“Very funny,” he smirked, “But I'll pass. Don't want to catch whatever you two have,” he rolled his eyes, and we all laughed.“So, are you ready?”

Ava's POVI swirled my head to the side, stirring in bed. Bed? The sudden realization hit me, and I instantly blinked my eyes open after what felt like hours of sleep. —I wasn't supposed to be in bed.My head felt cloudy as fuck, and I was clearly still dazed. The first thing in my line of sight was the beautiful patterned sheets beneath me, and a wooden drawer across from me between those two was just confusion.“What…” I raised my head and sat up in bed, taking a rather comprehensive look around the strange and unfamiliar room. It was a small, comfy room and, from the looks of it, definitely a motel. The room was really small, with a soft pale blue couch on the other end, a medium-sized bed which I sat on, a closet, a TV, and a red rug draped all over the floor.Where was I? How did I get here? But most importantly, what was I doing here? The last thing I remembered was going into the dressing room to change into my wedding dress while Sophia waited outside for me and then some

Ava's POV“Just listen, please."I rolled my eyes and ran my fingers through my hair. "I don't think there is anything that you will tell me that can change my mind, Fernando. Stop this madness."I hoped my words would do the trick but he was persistent."I have something I have to show you, and after you see it, whatever you decide is your choice. Just please,” he pleaded, and as much as I wanted to say no and tell him to go to hell. I didn't have a choice. After I listened, I would leave. The thought of that was reassuring enough. After this, I could go back to Miguel. I could already imagine him going berserk once he realized that I had gone missing just a week to our wedding. I needed to go back to him before he lost it and did something crazy because of me or, rather, because of Fernando's foolish decision. If Miguel found out it was him, I was sure he'd kill him.If I wanted to save him, I needed to be out of here as fast as I could but first I had to do what he wanted. “I jus

Ava's POV Miguel was there, sleeping peacefully with Mary Grace cuddled into his side.My heart felt hurt and I wished for just one second I could turn back the hands of time —just to make myself worthy again. But all of those were just wishes.I couldn't risk another moment around them for fear of causing them more problems. It was clear that I was the secret ingredient for trouble. And for the people I loved to be safe, I had to be far from them.I scooped Mary Grace from her bed quietly not wanting to wake Miguel. I kissed her forehead, tears gathering in my eyes as I whispered. “I love you, sweetie, and I'll always be here. I'll always be watching you like a hawk but for now, mama has to go,” I pressed my lips to her head again, and again.“I'm going to miss you, darling, but don't worry you're in safe hands. Your dad will take good care of you,” I squeezed her in my arms and then finally laid her in the crib, not wanting to risk waking Miguel up by dropping her by his side as s

Ava's POV A gun rolled to the entrance of the cockpit and I only hesitated for a second before handing Mary Grace to Gracie. I knew what I had to do.I walked over to the door and picked it up as Lino stretched out his gun to Miguel. I stood behind them but none of them noticed my appearance in the room. The weapon was heavy but that didn't matter much. It was now or never, and I had to make a quick choice —a scary one but I didn't have much of a choice. I had never fired a gun in my life until this moment. But I had to do it, our lives depended on it.I focused my vision on him and the gun went off in my trembling hands.Lino's body dropped to the ground with a loud thud.If I had been just a second late he would have killed Miguel. My blood stirred.“Those were good men,” I mumbled, reeling in the loss as I ground my teeth and clenched my fist, “Lino. That scumbag,” I cursed, fuming inside.“I have everyone looking for him, and Mason. Perhaps he could lead us to him—”The sudden sound of the engine roaring to life echoed from behind us, and my head swirled to the Jet which was getting ready to take off. What the hell? I thought. Stunned.I creased a brow at the unbelievable sight before me. I could hardly believe it. I had no clue what was going on but that Jet was definitely not supposed to take off without an order from me.I couldn't understand it but Ava and my kids were in there, and that was all that mattered.Instantly, I sprinted towards the Jet, and Perez joined me as we raced to the aircraft. Ava's POVI bolted upright, my heart pounding against my chest as though it was trying to rip itself out of my body. I was anxious. No. More than that I felt unsettled and for no reason too. I just had this bad feeling in my gut that I couldn't quite shake. Something felt very wrong but I didn't know what it was.I sat up in bed, staring into the darkness with the only source of light being the moonlight spilling in through the window. The air in the room felt heavy, suffocating, as if laden with an ominous foreboding that I couldn't quite place, and the uneasiness tightened in the pit of my stomach. I suddenly felt stuffy and needed some air.I slipped out of bed and glanced over my baby’s crib to see if I had woken her. I hadn't. Mary Grace was still sound asleep.I sighed with relief and made my way to the door. I stumbled towards the door, but my heart jumped again as I heard the sudden sounds of hurried footsteps. My stomach tightened and I pushed the door open gently, peeking

  • Auctioned To My Mafia Lord   Chapter 154: Dead Man's Game

Miguel's POVLino was alive? That couldn't be.I had set the place on fire. I had watched it burn. It had to be a lie. Nando was definitely lying. I glanced at him, “You're lying,” I said.“I'm not!” He yelled with desperation in his voice and words, “I swear it. Mason is involved. I can prove it. Where is he?” I hesitated and turned to one of my men, “Where is Mason?” I asked, right in front of Nando. The man shook his head, “I haven't seen him all day. None of us have,” he responded. The words echoed in my head, and Nando's voice echoed beside me, “He knows... he knows you're onto him, and he's made a run for it.”Nando’s words made sense, and my mind was starting to churn with all sorts of thoughts. There had been something off about Mason since we caught Nando— maybe even since Lino.He hadn't come down to the cell for once, and I had barely seen him. It was almost like he had been hiding away all this time, and I just never really noticed.Everything was starting to align in my

Ava’s POVIt was midday, and Gracie helped me with a napkin to wipe the breast milk that spilled down Mary Grace’s clothes while I was breastfeeding her. I wiped it, cleaned her face too, before lowering my shirt.I pulled her to my chest and cradled my precious baby in my arms as I began to hum a gentle lullaby. Miguel’s favourite one and I hoped it would one day be her favourite one too.The melody flowed from my lips like a soothing river, wrapping us in its tender embrace like a blanket and its effect was tremendous on my baby. Mary Grace fell straight to sleep with her palm clutched tightly around my finger. I noticed she loved to do that, and I loved the feel of her palm around my finger. It was warm, and it made me feel a tremendous amount of peace. I rocked her back and forth, with the rhythm of the lullaby, and Gracie grinned beside me, wrapping one hand around my arm while caressing Mary Grace with the other, although she let her be the minute she was asleep so she wouldn't

Miguel’s POVI walked out of the underground cell, making my way up to the ground floor. Perez spun around the second I entered the room, “I was just coming to see you,” he said as he slid his phone in his pocket.“I spoke with the doctor, he will be here shortly,” He reported, and I regarded him with a nod. “How’s he holding up?”“He’s still a long way from hell but I'll make sure he gets there,” I replied. Perez smiled, “He's more than earned it,” he remarked, “Care for a drink?” he gestured, raising the bottle for a second before going on to pour himself a glass.“Sure. I haven't had one in a while,” I motioned towards him, taking notice of the room. “Where's Mason?” I asked after a minute of not spotting him anywhere around the room. “I’m not sure but he should be outside,” he said, and offered me a glass of scotch. I gulped it all at once and lowered the glass to the table.“Any lead for the antidote yet?” He asked.I shook my head, “Not yet,” I paused, “But I was thinking, per
