Forty seven

Somehow, minutes into the hours and the tears stopped flowing down Kyra’s face. It was not because she wanted to stop crying, but it was mostly because she no longer had tears in her eyes and her head was beginning to hurt badly.

She sat in her seat, staring blankly into space. She did not know where they were right now but the carriage had slowed down after going too fast to escape her pursuers like thirty minutes ago. So she knew that they had outrun her pursuers and they might be in the capital already given how long they’ve been riding.

Kyra did not notice when the carriage stopped moving. She snapped back the present, a loud scream tearing out of her when someone knocked on the door of the carriage.

Kyra looked around wide-eyed and disoriented for a moment before she realized that they had stopped, and it was just the driver knocking on the door of the carriage.

She scooted over to the end of her seat and pushed the door open.
