Selene

I listened intently to the line as my father’s voice crackled from the other end. “Has he thrown her out of the house?”

I leaned against the door frame, frustration gnawing at me. “She’s still there, but Martins is furious.”

“Selene, is he furious enough to throw her out?” my father pressed.

“From the way he spoke to Alex yesterday, he might not be furious enough yet. But when he finds out that the person who leaked the information was Amelia Fray, then he’ll be furious enough." I said, a sly grin spreading across my face.

“Okay, keep me updated,” he instructed before the line went dead.

I stepped out of my room, eager to see Amelia being expelled from the house. But everything seemed eerily calm. The house was quiet. I eavesdropped on Alex and Martins yesterday and overheard Martins instructing Alex to find out who had leaked the story.

Given Alex’s efficiency, I expected him to have discovered the name of the person already. Was he really still unaware? Or was he reluctant?
