WRITER’S POV

Lawrence was just about to tell Carlos to ignore what he said, that’s if he heard anything at all when the door was pushed open and Charley stepped in.

His jaw clenched hard alongside his fists.

“Hold it in, Lawrence, you can’t afford to attack him first.” He had to repeat the words to himself to be able to stop himself from charging at Charley the instant the door opened and he let himself in.

“There you are! the second busiest man here after Lawrence. I feel like Carl and I have no ambition.” Carlos said the moment Charley stepped into the room, and made a pitiful face.

Like Lawrence expected, Charley first glanced around the room to see if he was present. And when he saw him, Lawrence couldn’t have missed the disappointment in his face.

He ignored the fact that he walked in while Carlos and Carl chatted with him.

“You seem to be quite busy these days, Charley, what’s going on?” Carlos asked Charley.
