“Kieran! Where have you been? I’ve been calling you for like 5 hours now, yet you are not answering your phone. I thought you were dead already!” Hiro hissed as soon as he saw me. He was standing in front of our dorm building with a mad face.
“Well, I am here now.” He rolled his eyes and lifted the box that was on the ground.
You see, today is our moving-in day, since next week is our first day at college. I’m so excited to meet new people although some of my friends in high school were at the same university as well. I just can’t wait to meet them. Especially him. My father dropped me off but didn’t budge to help me because he was late for his business meeting and I don’t mind since he doesn’t care about me at all.
Hiro went inside the lobby and checked his name on the bulletin board to see which room he was in. I don’t mind if he’s not rooming with me. Besides, I also wanted to meet new people. Hiro was one of my friends in high school. In fact, we have a group of friends but some of them went to college internationally. I also have another friend and he’s not just a friend, but he’s my best friend. He is coming here too, but I haven’t seen him yet. Maybe he’s still in their house.
“Aww, man!” Hiro suddenly hissed, “We are not in the same room!” he cried, and I gave him a light chuckle as he lifted his box once again. Honestly, I don’t mind who my roommate will be. I just wanted to be friends with him. This was my first time befriending a stranger. As Hiro was still pissed off, I didn’t bother to see who it would be in tandem in my room. I want to meet him in person and not by his name. Also, my room number is on my keys, so I don’t have to look at them.
As we entered the elevator and pressed our floor number, we were quiet. I know Hiro wanted to be a roommate with me, but luck is not on his side.
“You know, we can still have lunch together and I will visit you in your room,” I said. He looked at me with hope and smiled.
“Really? Would you do that?”
I nodded and he smiled so brightly again. Hiro is your typical nerd classmate but he acts like a baby. Well, he’s a mama’s boy specifically. That’s why our friends treated him like a baby when we were in high school. Once the elevator bell called, we both hopped out of the elevator and started to find our room. It’s a good thing that we were on the same floor so that if I ever have some time to visit him, I won’t be bothered to use the elevator.
Hiro finds his dorm room and I wished him good luck, but not that long, I also found my room. It was just in front of him. Well, that was weird but in a good way. We may not be roommates, but our rooms are just facing each other.
I let Hiro enter his room first before me. He knocked at the door and a stranger opened it. His roommate then greets him and welcomes him. Judging by his looks, he’s nice.
“Hi, you must be my new roommate. My name is Finley, but you can call me Finn.” He said, extending his hand to Hiro, which he accepted.
“I’m Hiro and this is my friend Kieran. His room is in front of ours.” Hiro said. Fin’s gaze averted at me and we gave each other a small nod. Fin offered to help Hiro with his things but he declined. This dude is nice, I assume. I excuse myself since my things were heavy and I needed to unpack everything. My back hurts from my backpack and duffel bag that I am carrying.
I knocked at the door hoping that my roommate would open it, but nothing. Maybe he’s not here yet. I tried to open the doorknob but it was locked. Guess he’s not around yet.
Once I entered the room, I scanned everything and I loved it. It’s cozy and nice and fresh. It feels like I’m on vacation. I checked the mini kitchen; there was a mini pantry, sink, and a small fridge, sure that it could accommodate two people. The bathroom is great also, since there’s a shower, bathtub, and toilet.
Is this a dorm for college students or a hotel suite?
Except that there’s no room for each.
I chose my bed since my roommate hasn’t arrived yet and I started to unpack my things. I put my clothes in the closet and hang my uniform and other formal clothes. I’m so tired of just doing this. I took a glance at my watch and it was already 3 in the afternoon. Time flies so fast, yet my roommate isn’t here yet. I fished my phone from my pocket and started to text Nate because I hadn’t heard from him since this morning.
He’s still not replying. Instead, I receive a text from Hiro asking me if my roommate is nice. Well, I haven’t met him yet.
I finished everything as I organized my laptop and my notebooks on my study table and already put some of the food that I bought yesterday in the pantry and the drinks on the fridge. Just in case my roommate wants something, then there it is. I just hope that he’s not picky or maybe greedy about eating.
Now, I have the room all by myself and I can do whatever I want. Maybe I’ll just watch some N*****x shows or maybe some por—
I jumped on the small couch and started to scan the shows. There’s nothing that I like but I love re-watching some of them. It feels nostalgic.
After 30 minutes of watching, I heard the door knock. I suddenly jumped out of my bed and ran to the door. Maybe it’s my roommate? But why would he knock? Doesn’t he have keys? Or maybe he had a lot of things in his hands that he didn’t bother using the key.
I smiled so brightly when I opened the door, only to find out that it was Nate. My best friend and beside him is Hiro.
“Why are you smiling like that?” Nate is in disgust.
“He thought we were his roommates,” Hiro suddenly butted in.
I’m disappointed because I thought it was my roommate, but I’m still happy because my friends are here to accompany me.
“Anyway, we’re here because we’re going to eat. Do you want to come with us?” Nate asked, to which I nodded. Since I haven’t eaten anything yet, I will just go with them. Like the old times. I asked for a minute to grab my hoodie and my wallet from my bed and ran into them. I closed the door behind me and we both walked to the elevator.
Once we exited the dorm, Hiro wouldn’t stop talking about his roommate. He’s saying that his new roommate is so nice and caring and blah blah blah. Nate, on the other hand, kept on listening to him. What can he do? Hiro is such a baby. I don’t know which fast-food chain we’re dining at, but I know that I am just following them.
The next thing I know is that we stopped at the place where we dined when we were still in high school. It’s a small café but there are lots of choices on its menu. They have everything from breakfast to snacks to dinner, you name it.
We both entered the café and one of the owners still recognized us and smiled at us. Hiro, being the bubbly one, greeted them. Of course, the owner personally served us. I get the usual meatballs and pasta.
As we were having our dinner, we all talked about random things like our memories of when we were in high school and everything. Some of our friends are studying abroad but most of them enrolled where we are. Though I haven’t met them since graduation, I know that they’re okay. Maybe tomorrow, we will be seeing each other. None of them were replying in our group chat anyway.
“Why aren’t you replying to my text?” I asked Nate.
“I forgot to, but trust me, I read them all,” he replied. I glared at him and he apologized, “I’m sorry. I was about to but I crossed paths with Hiro. That’s why I forgot. At least, the first thing I do when I arrive, is to look for your room, right?”
Once we finished, we all went back to our dorm apartment. We were about to walk into the lobby when Hiro suddenly came to a halt. I noticed it since his talking had stopped and when I looked at him he was staring straight at the lobby with his jaw dropped.
Nate got confused and so was I. We both walked into him and Nate asked him what happened. He didn’t say a word, but he was pointing at the lobby. I averted my eyes to where he was pointing and I didn’t see anything but a crowd of people.
“What?” Nate asked.
“It’s Spencer! He’s here!” Hiro said and cheered as someone gave him candy.
Impossible.
“I saw him just now. He’s here.” Hiro smiled at Nate. Nate turned his looks at me and I just shook my head. That’s impossible. It’s not happening again. Spencer Moore is not here. He’s in London. Everybody told me he was in London. There was proof.
He’s not going to cross my path again like in high school, right?
There is no freaking way that Hiro saw Spencer just now. Maybe he’s just missing Spencer. That’s why he thought it was him. I am a hundred percent sure that Spencer is in London. Of course, he is. His family is there. I’m sure that his parents wanted him to study in one of the finest schools in England. It just can’t be.I’m not going to let Spencer ruin my life again, not in this college life. Besides, Nate and I didn’t see him, only Hiro, so there’s still a possibility that it’s not Spencer but only Hiro’s imagination.Hiro and Spencer were great friends when we were in high school. Maybe Hiro just missed him.I dusted off my thoughts and we all went back to our respective dorms. I’m pretty hoping that my roommate is already there now. Nate’s room is only two rooms from mine and I’m glad that we are all on the same floor.
“So annoying,” everybody flinched when Nate dropped his books on top of the table. We were currently having our breakfast in the cafeteria when Nate arrived with a bad morning. He slumped down on his seat and put his chin on the top of his hand. Everybody was confused why he was acting like this, though it’s not typical for Nate for having a bad day.“I fell asleep last night and I didn’t finish the book that I was reading. Damn it,” he added as he opened the book that he was talking about.Hiro and Finn continue their breakfast when suddenly someone caught our attention. As usual. You already know who it is. They both look up to Spencer, who’s looking for a vacant seat. Hiro, being the bubbly nice guy, waved his right hand for Spencer to see him. He pointed out that there was still another vacant seat beside me but Spencer’s smile faded away when he sees that he would be sitting next to the pe
I jumped on my bed after I dunk my head in the tub filled with cold water. Damn it. I should’ve known that it was his trap to get even from the incident last night. I hate him so much. How come I didn’t even notice that the little devil was already pouring hot sauce on my drink? Why am I so stupid?! I was so busy with that stupid luggage of his and I fell into his trap. What the hell am I doing?I picked up my phone beside me when it received a message. As I look at it, it was from Nate.Where are you? We are already here at the cafeteria. The text says. I looked up to the clock and it was quarter to seven. I should get my breakfast now but since I know that Spencer is already in there with them, I decided that I should think of something before I go and see them. I can’t let him slip off after he put hot sauce on my beloved coffee. He can’t get away from my wrath. Just kidding, I should think of something. S
I was just watching every move he makes so that I know what he was doing. When he entered the bathroom, he threw the corgi plushie inside the washing machine and then the dryer after.I furrowed my brows because he was just focusing on what he is doing when he should be attacking me with names and harsh words instead! What is wrong with him? When the plushie was already dry, he exited the bathroom and walked into his bed. He placed it above his pillow as he went back to his luggage to find something again. Is he finding the one I threw earlier?Well, I guess that’s a yes.He was looking at every corner like it was his life depending on it. I w
Spencer’s POVAfter I got back from my job, I immediately went back to my room. When I arrived in front of my door, I took a deep sigh before entering since I have to deal with my beloved roommate. He’s annoying and I really hate him. Well, we both hated each other since high school. As I opened it, I saw Kieran sipping his coffee like there was something going on.Our eyes didn’t meet but I know that there’s something fishy here. He was drinking his coffee like he did something. I automatically walked to my bed only to find out that my luggage earlier was still above it. I know that there’s something missing because I took care of it for a really long time.I’m tired from my work and I don’t want to argue with him late at night.
Spencer’s POVIt has been days since Finn ask me for a coffee and it’s been days since my last argument with Kieran. After that day, I didn’t talk to him. He just looks my way but I never dare to spat at him. I only ignored him.The college school life will start tomorrow and I can’t wait to bury all of my time in the library and studying instead of locking myself in my dorm with my great roommate and hanging out outside the campus.I don’t like going out anyway but I have no choice but to do it since I don’t want to be near Kieran. After that fight, I just gave him a small smirk like I was more insulting him so that it can trigger him more. He can’t see me that I’m
Kieran's POVDamn it.After they all left, I remained in my seat. I loosen my fist that was under the table and pick out my phone from my pocket since it's ringing.I looked at the caller and it was Hiro.“Hello?”“Meet me at my dorm after class,” he said and he hung up the phone. I furrowed my brows at his tone because he sounds weird. He’s not the typical cheerful one right now but it doesn’t matter. What matters is that I can’t stand Spencer anymore. There’s no day that we didn’t yell or scream at each other.I know it has been
Kieran’s POV“What do you mean?” I curiously ask him.“Let’s play hide n seek.” he smiled devilishly, “I will be the brain and you will be the hands. You see, I know that something is going on with Spencer but he’s good at hiding, I just know because Spencer and Nate had some secrets that we will never know. Have you noticed that Nate always prioritizes Spencer over anything?”I slowly nodded my head.“See? And do you know where Spencer is right now?” I just look at him and shake my head no because no words were coming out in my mouth, “He is with Nate. Nate told you earlier that you aren’t allowed to hang out with them unless you
Kieran’s POVOnce Spencer woke up from his sleep, he didn’t notice that I was still inside the room. I woke up early so that he won’t freak out when he sees me beside him and I’m glad that he’s a heavy sleeper. Or maybe I just woke up really early.I’m wide awake all night because a lot of things were running through my mind. Spencer had been calling this Kash name nonstop. Are we talking about the same person? What if are we really talking about the same person? With all my curiosity, I tried to sneak into his phone. I know it’s bad and I’m invading his privacy but what if Spencer’s just doing these things because he had some past with my brother? I just don’t imagine that my brother and my
Spencer’s POV Waking up with a headache and a little hangover. I didn't realize that I drank too much. I don't even remember what happened last night. Except for Kieran’s bomb surprises. It was awful and embarrassing to everyone who was at the party last night. The only thing that I remember is that I left last night after I paid Kieran for the cake that he brought me and I went directly to the club to spend the night. I made out with other guys but didn’t dare to sleep with them. I don’t know why I didn’t sleep with them, usually, I spent the night with guys after I drink but now, I woke up in my dorm apartment. I never r
Kieran’s POVIt’s been two hours since Spencer left.I know that he needed space for what I did on his birthday. Damn it. If I just used my brain for once, maybe none of this had happened.“You don’t know behind everything, Kieran. You don’t know what happened to Spencer,”“You don’t know behind everything, Kieran. You don’t know what happened to Spencer,”“You don’t know behind everything, Kieran. You don’t know what happened to Spencer,”Nate’s words were running repe
Spencer’s POV“You see, you are not the angel that everybody looks up to. You are not that innocent. I already know you, Spencer and now, everybody knows you as well. Our friends knew what you were up to. Don’t worry, I gave you birth control just in case you get pregnant by some random dude you slept with and paid you after,” he said after I opened the present that Kieran gave me.Truth is, I don’t know what to feel. I feel betrayed, embarrassed, angry, sad, but out of all everything, I felt happy for once. Even just for seconds. After Kieran said those words, I still held on to the gift and held it tightly. I looked up to meet his eyes and he was smiling devilishly. I slowly smiled genuinely at him.
Kieran’s POV I can’t wait to go back to my dorm because I wanted to change some nice casual clothes. It is already 5:30 and I walked faster just to get into my room. As I opened the door, there was no sign of Spencer. Maybe he went out? I placed my bag on top of my study table and instantly changed my clothes when I spotted something new. As I turned around to Spencer’s bed, there was an opened gift. I don’t want to be nosy but when I looked at it, it was a Rolex watch. I smirked. I know where
Kieran’s POVIt was already late at night and I’m still working on my homework. I’m still alone in my room because Spencer always came back late. I don’t know where he’s been going every day and I don’t care. After what happened earlier, I never saw Spencer then. Nate called him and yes, he accepted the call but he’s making excuses. After several times of calling him again, he never picks it up.Spencer needs some space and I like it. Our friends won’t turn their attention to Spencer anymore and if they knew what Spencer is hiding behind their back, I don't know if they will still be friends with him.I took a glance at my mini clock that was in front of me and it’s already 8 in the evening. I furrowed my brows since Spencer hasn’t arrived
Kieran’s POVThe new day arrives and Nate asks us if we should do our homework at the library. Well, I don't have any homework because I already finished them all last night. I don't have any choice but to follow them to keep my cool. Also, they all apologized for last night, and of course, what did I do? I forgive them but I will never forget it. I forgive them and ask like everything is okay but the truth is I'm done. I’m done with everything and Spencer is the one to blame. If it’s not for him, none of this wouldn’t happened.Everybody was quietly reading their books while I was doing some doodle at the back of my notebook. Spencer is beside me, the usual.“Anyway– I have some important news!” Nate cheered and suddenly the libra
Spencer’s POV“Are you okay? What happened to you? Did Kieran push you off the bed?” I don’t know who asked those questions because I was focused on the nurse who put a bandage on my arm. It hurts so bad.I turned my head to them and Nate was looking at me worriedly.“What happened?” he ask,“I just fell on my bed. Kieran didn’t do anything. I’m just stupid for rolling at the edge of the bed,” I explained to him and they all nodded.I was really hooked on the book that I was reading. I was laying down and then sat and then laid back again but when I ro
Kieran’s POVI had to sit beside Spencer since Nate wanted to test us as if we are only doing this for a show. We are currently eating our lunch and everybody was talking nonstop except for me and Spencer. I get it. It’s still awkward for the both of us to be seated next to each other. Although we have our friends with us, it’s still awkward and I don’t know why. I shouldn’t be uncomfortable since I’m just faking this.I watch Spencer from the corner of my eyes and I can sense that he’s shaking. He kept on massaging his hands under the table. He even lets out a fake laugh if Nate or someone talks their dad jokes.Fast forward, at last, the day is finally over. I had lunch with them and my class was already finished
