Chapter 2

last update Last Updated: 2021-06-14 04:02:12

I felt myself sleeping on something soft. Could I be dead and in heaven? I opened my eyes only to find myself in an unfamiliar place. Could it be that those terrible men found me and brought me here.

No! I will be doomed if they did, they will kill me like they killed my parents and I won't be able to avenge the death of my parents. No! I have to escape from this place and run far away from here. I tried getting up but my body felt like it wasn't even mine. My body felt so weak and heavy, but I had to try anyways I had to do it for my parents.

"Come on Amphitrite". I said to myself in a whisper trying even more harder to get up. I started coughing loudly. "There, there little tigress, you will only hurt yourself if you keep on moving like that. Your body is still weak as you stayed in the water for almost an hour unconscious". A deep voice said and I turned to look at him. He was very muscular, it looked like he was in his early thirties. He started moving towards me and I moved back. What if he is one of them.

"I won't hurt you little tigress but you have to tell me why you jumped into that raging river. Were you trying to kill yourself?". He asked and I couldn't utter a word. I couldn't find my voice.

"Do you know how hard it was to get you out of there?". He added and all I could do was stare at him like a lost chicken.

"Where are your parents?". He asked and warm tears gushed out of my eyes as I remembered how my parents were brutally killed and burned to ashes.

I started sobbing loudly and he sat besides me as he consoled me. "There, there child stop crying and tell me what happened". He said stroking my hair affectionately. It felt like I was in my father's arms.

"T-they k-killed t-them.... T-those b-bad men k-killed them". I chocked out.

"Who killed them dear? Do you know who killed them?". He asked and I shook my head negatively but I saw all their faces. Their faces will always be printed boldly in my mind and I will forever remember their faces even in the next fifty years to come.

I heard him sigh deeply. "Are you hungry?". He asked and I shook my head negatively saying no. "You need to eat something, your body is still weak". He said hurrying out of the room and I rested my head on the pillow looking at nowhere in particular.

He came back few minutes later with a bowl of homemade hot chicken soup. He placed the bowl in front of me and ushered me to eat. I didn't have any appetite to eat so I just forced it down my throat but it tasted kinda good. He was right, I had to be strong because if I get weak I wouldn't be able to have my revenge on those five monsters.

I gulped down the whole soup and he smiled lightly. "T-thank you". I muttered and he nodded.

"What's your name little one?". He asked.

"My name is Amphitrite". I whispered hoarsely.

"Your name is very unusual. Who gave you that name?". He asked curiously.

"My mommy and daddy gave it to me". I mumbled.

"What does it mean?". He asked curiously.

"Queen of the sea". I replied hoarsely.

"It that the reason why you threw yourself in that dangerous raging river?". He asked keenly.

"No—they were going to take me with them and sell me". I replied and he arched his brow.

"Sell you? They killed your parents and wanted to sell you?". He asked and I nodded.

I heard him mumble something under his breath.

"You are a brave young girl do you know that?". He asked and I looked away.

"No I'm not. I couldn't save my parents". I whispered balling my fists and he sighed.

"Listen here dear what happened was not your fault, it was bound to happen your parents were—"

"They didn't deserve to be killed brutally and burned to ashes. They were good human beings. They were my parents!". I yelled as tears streamed down my chubby cheeks and he sighed.

"Th-they did not d-deserve to die like that". I mumbled.

"I will never forgive them for what they did! They will have to pay!". I gritted out and he chuckled.

"How are you going to do that little one. You barely can't protect yourself how are you planning on taking on five grown men?". He asked and I looked at him with blurry eyes.

"Listen here Amphitrite, you are still young to think about revenge and all that. Just go to sleep now, you need proper rest". He said smugly turning to leave.

I wiped all my tears with the back of my palm. 'Even if it takes me hundred years to have my revenge I will have it', I thought as I rested my head on the pillow and closed my eyes.

********

"Noooo!". I screamed as I opened my eyes fully. I was sweating profusely and my heart was pounding faster. I saw those five men smirking at me in my dreams with their fully loaded guns pointed towards me.

That man was not in sight. Where could he be?

I slipped out of bed and walked through the corridor to the living room. Everything was black and I guessed that his favorite color was black. His house was horrifying, who is this man. I asked myself.

I heard a sound in the other room and flinched but bolted towards it anyways. The door was slightly opened so I peered inside the room. The light was dim but what I saw was even more horrifying there were.... There were all sorts of guns, the same guns that those bad guys were carrying the same weapons that they used to kill my parents. All sorts of swords and knives, every dangerous weapon was stuffed in there. He was sitting on a chair with his face turned away from me and my legs wobbled.

He is one of them. He is going to hurt me.

One thing striked my mind, "RUN!!".

I moved backwards but unfortunately I pushed a flower vase in broke into pieces. "Who's there!". He asked and I started running faster.

"Amphitrite!". I heard him call but I did not stop. No wonder my parents hid me away from the world for ten years. This world is filled with horrible people. I used to ask them why I was homeschooled. I used to pester them that I wanted to go to school like normal kids do, but they understood but I didn't.

I heard his footsteps behind me. He was running after me and I got more scared.

"Amphitrite stop!". He yelled but I didn't stop running. In less than a minute he caught up with me and hurled me over his shoulder and I screamed loudly.

"Let me go!". I screamed.

"Calm down Amphitrite! I'm not going to hurt you!". He castigated but I kept screaming.

One thing I also noticed is that his house was in the woods far away from the city just like our house. We arrived at his house and he locked the door.

He dropped me gently on his bear couch and I moved away from him. "St-stay away from me. Who a-are y-you?". I asked with a stutter and he sighed.

"I won't hurt you okay. Just let me explain, you won't be able to survive out there alone. Just let me help you". He said but I didn't believe anything that he was saying.

"W-who are you?". I asked again.

"My name is Vander and I'm an assassin". He explained and I just looked at him blankly.

"What is an assassin?". I asked curiously.

"You are still a child Amphitrite. You won't understand". He replied and I frowned.

"I'm ten years old and I understand everything". I insisted and he chuckled.

"You are too big for your age do you know that?". He asked and I shrugged.

"My momma always told me to be a strong girl". I muttered and he smiled lightly.

"Your momma must have been a fierce and brave woman". He said and I nodded.

"An assassin is a person who kills an important person in exchange for money. At least that's my explanation for what I do for a living". He muttered with a shrug and I gasped.

"Y-you kill people f-for money?". I asked absentmindedly and he nodded. This world is really full of cruel and heartless people. Could those people who killed my momma and daddy assassins? No, they were talking about some document and my father seems to have known them.

"Yes I do kill for money and trust me it's not a nice job to do. The smell of blood is not a pleasant smell". He said with a chuckle.

I don't know why but I also wanted to know how blood smells like. I wanted to know how a person screams like when they are in pain. And only five people came across my mind, my parents murderers!.

"How—how do you become an assassin?". I asked curiously.

"I attended an assassination school for five years". He replied and I nodded.

Assassination school? I also want to go there so that I can have my revenge on those monsters.

"H-how do you get in?". I asked and he frowned.

"Why are you asking little one?". He asked narrowing his eyes at me. "Wait, wait, wait you are not planning on asking me to take you there, are you?".

"Please Vander! I really want to go there. I want to avenge the death of my parents". I said and he shook his head negatively.

"I cannot take you there". He simply said.

"Why? I want to go there. Take me there!". I said with a high pitched voice.

"It's not safe there Amphitrite, people die and all sorts of bad things happen there. So I won't take you there and besides you are too young to go to that school". He retorted.

"I want to go there Vander please. Whatever happens to me won't be your fault. It will be mine, I promised my parents that I'm going to avenge their death".

"Revenge is never the solution Amphitrite. I know that your parents wouldn't want this for you". He said. "You are going to get bullied and beaten up. Do you want that? ". He asked and I kept quiet as I started sobbing loudly. "Please j-just take me there. I do not care w-what happens, I just want to go there please". I pleaded with my palms pressed together.

"Show me your best punch". He blurted out. "Come on Amphitrite, you want to go there right? Show me how you will defend yourself". He said and I gave him my best punch and he laughed.

"I-is that what you call a punch?". He asked between laughs and I scoffed.

"They are so going to make you a punching bag". He muttered silently.

"I can't let you go like this. You are going to die on your first day. You have to be prepared before you go there and I'm going to help you". He said and I smiled lightly.

"Thank you!". I said hugging him to myself and he was hesitant but hugged me back.

"Our training will start tomorrow. So it will be better if you get some rest because I'm going to wake you up early in the morning". He said and I nodded.

I can't wait to get admitted into that school so that I can have my revenge. This is my mission and I will stop at nothing until I kill them all one by one.

********

"You bunch of embiciles!". Lucien growled looking at his three right hand men and they all flinched.

"You fools couldn't even catch a ten year old girl!". He growled at them.

"Boss s-she jumped off the cliff into the raging river we tried but we couldn't stop her. I think she is dead by now". Oscar stuttered and the other ones just nodded positively.

"Why didn't you catch her beforehand then!". He gritted out and they stared at their feet.

He chuckled bitterly. "You want to tell me that a mere little ten year old girl outsmarted three full grown men just like that? Can you believe this Tristan?". He turned to look at his younger brother who was standing behind him.

"Calm down brother we can always find another girl to sell and—"

"I don't want another girl! I want her. She would have made me billions if dollars if I sold her to one of my clients. And these bunch of incompetent fools ruined my plans!". He growled and Tristan gulped down a lump on his throat afraid that his brother might do something he would regret in anger.

"Oscar, Orion and Gunnar. You three can leave!". Tristan dismissed them and they nodded hurrying away.

He turned to look at Lucien and he was fuming in anger. "We lost the document and the girl. Edward has succeeded in ruining me even in death!".

"Calm down brother, yelling and screaming isn't good for you. We just have to find a way forward and besides, we still have fifty percent shares of Edward's company so let's just focus on that". Tristan suggested keenly and Lucien nodded.

***

Outside their office Oscar stood there lost in thoughts.

**Even if I die today! I will rise from the dead and kill you all! Remember this you monsters! I'm going to come back for my revenge!... I'm going to avenge the death of my parents! I'm going to kill you all!**

Amphitrite's words kept resounding in his head over and over again as his body tensed.

'Is she really going to come back?'. He asked himself inwardly.

"You are not thinking about what that little girl said before jumping off the cliff right?". Orion teased as he bursted out laughing and Gunnar joined him.

"You are such a chicken Oscar". He said sarcastically as he continued laughing.

"Come on dude, she is dead okay. There is no way a ten year old can survive that raging river". Gunnar suggested and Orion nodded in agreement.

"If she can escape from us, then what's so surprising about her coming back?". Oscar asked.

"She just got lucky. Stop worrying about her and let's go get some drinks and bang some wh*res!". Orion exclaimed and they nodded with wide smiles on their faces.

"I guess you guys are right. Let's do this?". Oscar exclaimed and they hurried away.

"Nooo!". I screamed again as I woke up sweating profusely. I just dreamed about how my parents were killed mercilessly by those monsters. I do not think that these nightmares will go away anytime soon but it is good that I'm having these nightmares because they will forever be a reminder of my deadly mission to hurt those that killed my parents in cold blood. "It is good that you woke up because I was going to wake you up. Here!". Vander said throwing a huge silicon bag in front of me. The bag was filled with clothes, black clothes to be precise and surprisingly I loved them. Seems like black is my favorite color now because I feel like my life is filled with darkness and darkness only. There is no light and there will never be until I punish those monsters for their misdeeds. I will not spare them for what they did to me and my parents. I used to love bright colors like pink, yellow, white... And so on but right now I just hate those colo

Vander carried me inside the house and I couldn't help it but shiver vigorously. "Go and take a bath, little one. You will catch a cold. Put on some dry clothes and come here. I will make you some hot cup of coffee." Vander said and I nodded my head hurrying into my room. After taking my bath, I went downstairs. Vander handed me a cup of hot coffee and I collected it from him in a jiffy. I never liked coffee but I drank it anyways, I can't complain, my parents are no longer alive to pamper me. Vander is just doing me a favor and when I succeed in getting admitted to the assassination school, I will be all alone without him. "When do you think I will be ready to go Vander?" I asked vaguely and he turned to look at me. "You are not ready yet, Amphitrite. But I believe that in few weeks you will be ready to go." He assured and I nodded slightly. "Are you hungry?" It's been weeks since I have been training with Vander and I think that I'm ready to go to the assassination school but Vander hardly mentions it, maybe I should just confront him about everything. He asked his attention turned to the knife and I sucked in breath. "When are you taking me there." I rushed my words and he knitted his brows, "Taking you where?" He asked. "To the assassination school." I grumbled and he sighed deeply. "You are not ready yet, Amphitrite." He said calmly continuing what he was doing. "You have been saying that for the past two weeks!" I sat in a bar and ordered some refreshments to drink, watching Gunnar keenly. He had a girl sitting on his lap, giggling and smiling. A cigarette between his fingers, squeezing the girl's buttock. It's so unfortunate that he's not going to be alive tomorrow.A resounding slap landed on his cheek as the girl stood up from his thighs staggering back with a scowl on her face. She huffed and scrolled away from his presence. I saw how his veins popped out of his skin, he was angry. I wondered what he said to the girl that made her that angry. His eyes darted towards me and a sloppy smile found it's way on his face, I felt nauseous with the way he was devouring my body wi

He remembered the clumsy man that bumped into him earlier on, if it was up to him, he would have shot a bullet right into his empty skull but he didn't want to create a scene nor attract any attention on him. He has been called out for a mission to kill a lady assassin. He has to fly all the way to New Orleans to kill the lady, he couldn't refuse because he was been paid a heavy dime for it. He glanced at the picture again for the second time and he frowned, for an assassin like him to be called on such a mission is rare, he's the best assassin that has ever lived and he charges a lot so many avoid him but the particular man paid him anything that he demanded. The girl must have been brutal, he thought. But her face looks so innocent inside the mask, innocent faces deceive, he hissed. He also wondered how he was going to determine
