RAVEN POV “This works.” Aella gave a nod. Since we got to the boutique, it was anything I preferred she agreed with. “Do you always have to agree, Aella?” At some point, I couldn't hold back my thoughts so I asked the question. “Take another cart and go picking. I'll filter them when we're ready to pay and leave, mm?” Happily, she gave a nod and started to walk away. The next time I saw her, she walked past me and headed to a section of socks - what I believe we needed. Winter was coming and the babies would be needing as many socks as possible. The thought of having them in less than three months brought a smile to my face. It was high time I went for my next appointment, and it happened to be tomorrow. Just when I wanted to move again, I looked up and it looked like there was a gaze I met, but this person was gone from my sight. Was I imagining things? Of course not. I held the handle of the cart and started to walk again, smiling with the many thoughts running around my head
LILA POV It was hard. Very hard to believe what I had seen. Who would think that Rune would go after her after all that he's done to make her a sad woman? I hated him so much for making me look so stupid. What was he trying to do? Make me go through another series of hurt and pain? More tears ran down my face and I heaved a sigh, over and over and over again - not knowing what to do and how to go about it. “Take this.” It was Mother. She came into my room with a mug of tea she believed would cure my hurting heart. “It'll help calm the mood.” Taking a seat on the bed and next to me, she added. I believed it was a lie, and I also didn't mind trying. I needed to heal from what I had seen. If possible, forget everything I saw back there yesterday. “Mother, he looked so desperate to speak with her. Why do I feel so stupid? I should have known he'd go back to get her. Take a look at me and see how I lose.” The older woman chuckled. “Did you say lose? Of course not. You haven't lost an
RUNE POV Getting over what had happened at the boutique was a hard thing to do, but I got over it eventually. Another day, another morning. Waking up with relief, I sat up on the bed. No, I got off the bed and walked to the door. I was hungry and needed to put something in my mouth. Since what happened had happened, I hadn't been eating enough but it was very different today. “Good morning, Young Alpha Rune. How was your sleep?” One of the maids smiled and stopped in her tracks. It looked like she was ready to attend to me and I didn't mind for a moment. “What shall I do for you this morning?” I heaved a sigh and thought about it. “I want a tray of food. With varieties of many things in it.” I explained, walked to the diner space, and took a seat, meeting her gaze and asking. “Did you understand what I said, my lady?” And she gave a nod before a bow, not speaking a word but turning around and leaving the space. A door opened. I turned to look at it. It was Father, a man who
LILA POV Why was everyone looking at me as though they had just seen a ghost? With the boxes that I held, I turned to look at Mother who smiled at me. And then the royals who had come out to see who drove into the compound. What were they expecting?Raven? That was the look on Rune's face and maybe not the others. What did I ever do to him? The silence became more than awkward. Wasn't I welcomed into the pack any longer? I smiled and walked closer, bowed to Luna and the Alpha of the pack before facing Rune who was yet to smile. “Hello, Lila. Good morning and welcome back,” the Alpha finally said. “It's good to see you're very okay health-wise. How have you been?” He asked and looked at Mother who was waiting for them to say something to her. Why was she avoided as though she was a ghost? “I am alright, Father. Thank you so much for asking. How are you too?” I asked him who nodded, walking closer so that he could stand face to face with Mother who brought me from The Oxen Pack to
RAVEN POV I snatched my towel from the wardrobe and headed to the bathroom. Only four more days and my vacation was over. I hadn't seen the doctor yet which shouldn't be so. The thought of this reminded me about how careless I could be sometimes, although I was certain that the babies were safe. They didn't have issues in the meantime and this was because of how I prioritized fruits and vegetables. As soon as I finished my bath, my gaze darted to the wall clock in my room and there it was. I had almost three hours more to spend in the house before finally leaving for the hospital. I must have something to eat before anything else. So with the towel wrapped around my large stomach, I walked into the kitchen - thinking of what to eat and then making up my mind the very next moment. Turning around, I walked to the store where crop fruits were kept. Taking about three small potato crops, I walked back to the space and set to work. It didn't take long for me to be done with the cooking
RAVEN POV Thankfully, I was more than ready for my trip with Logan. With my handbag that was brought down from its shelf, I walked out of the room. “Hello, Logan. Come on in. Welcome.” With a smile, he did just that. And that was when he took his hand from behind where he kept it all this while, revealing a bouquet. A beautiful one. “This is for you. I—I don't know but—”“Thank you!” I was grinning from ear to ear at this point and took it from him. “It was so thoughtful of you to do this, Logan. Thank you so much. Would you like to eat? I have some potatoes I fried that haven't been touched yet.” I explained to the man who was shaking his head already.“Okay—” A smile that was still plastered on my face. “I'll be right back. I need to keep this somewhere very safe.” I mouthed and was gone from his sight. The next time I came back, I had taken shots of the flowers in my room where it was kept. How did Logan know I needed to teach Rune some lessons? I smiled at him and asked.
RUNE POVThere was an awkwardness existing in the house. A lot of them and I feared the beauty of the pack was beginning to vanish from our eyes. What was wrong? What did I do wrong too? Staring at the ceiling from where I lay, these and many thoughts ran around my head. What was I going to do to change the look of things? Why did I get myself involved in all of these in the first place? Sitting up on the bed, I heaved a knowing sigh and picked up my phone from the table next to the bed. And just then, I stared at its screen. The wall clock before my eyes was not enough means of checking the time, and I was not myself. Not for a moment. Standing on my feet, I decided to go about my daily routine as usual. How could I forget it? Taking a seat again, I stared at the screen of my phone for a long time before making up my mind to do the usual: stalking Raven's page like I used to. And now I was staring at her profile. Something was off about it. What was that? Looking at the p
LILA POV I was all set, ready to leave the pack for the hospital this morning. But not without Rune. “Good morning, my lord,” taking a seat on another chair, I greeted the man who moped at me, nodding his head on second thought. “Did you have a good night's sleep?” He nodded again. But this time, he looked like he had something to say so I kept mute. “Good morning, Lila. I had a good night's sleep. How did you sleep?” “I tried.” The silence that ruled the space was somehow. Not so good for someone I was in love with, but I was still willing to give it a chance. I would wait for him to come around, especially when we were leaving the house together. “Uh—” he looked up. “You look like you're leaving the pack for someplace. Where are you headed this morning?” Asking, he turned around to look at the kitchen door, leaving me to wonder if there was something he was expecting, but what did I know? I had joined him at the table for a reason. A reason I was about to make known to him
