LILA POV

I was all set, ready to leave the pack for the hospital this morning. But not without Rune.

“Good morning, my lord,” taking a seat on another chair, I greeted the man who moped at me, nodding his head on second thought. “Did you have a good night's sleep?”

He nodded again.

But this time, he looked like he had something to say so I kept mute. “Good morning, Lila. I had a good night's sleep. How did you sleep?”

“I tried.”

The silence that ruled the space was somehow. Not so good for someone I was in love with, but I was still willing to give it a chance. I would wait for him to come around, especially when we were leaving the house together.

“Uh—” he looked up.

“You look like you're leaving the pack for someplace. Where are you headed this morning?” Asking, he turned around to look at the kitchen door, leaving me to wonder if there was something he was expecting, but what did I know?

I had joined him at the table for a reason.

A reason I was about to make known to him
