RAVEN POV Monday morning arrived in a hurry, just as I wanted it to. There was a mix of anxiety and happiness I felt inside of me and at the same time, I looked forward to standing in front of the manager as well as reporting for work as a first-timer. The alarm blared about an hour ago, and no one asked me to jump from bed. Without being told, I grabbed my towel and rushed to the bathroom for a bath. The time given to me for resumption as a new worker was 9 am, and the time was only almost seven in the morning. “Good morning,” Aella greeted me at the sight of me in the living room. “You haven't had your bath yet, why is that?” She looked at me with the towel wrapped around me. “Don't tell me you've forgotten what today is all about. I don't even believe that you would forget.” I chuckled. “I have enough time, Aella. I believed you were still asleep so I came to make something quick for me to eat.” I explained to her while she walked to the door of my room and pushed
RAVEN POV When I walked out of the manager's room, I heaved a sigh. “Thank you,” I looked at the lady, recognizing her face the next moment. “I think I've met you before when I came for the interview. We talked but I can't remember correctly.” She smiled, giving a nod also. “Yes, ma'am. I followed you to the door of the manager's office. Remember?” We caught up with a door and she stopped to look at me who gave a nod. “You'll be settling into the office while I work on the contract you'll sign.” I gave a nod, waiting for her to open up so I could walk in. When she did, she let me walk in before she did, mouthing words I didn't hear. “Nice office you've got, I'll explain the pros and cons to you before the end of the day. I know it won't be so hard to understand.” She smiled, walked to the curtain side, and opened it, walking back to the front of me and then pointing at the chair - a massive chair facing a system. “Is that mine?” She laughed, walking towards the door
RUNE POVI woke up a happy man this morning, just like other mornings. Why wouldn't I be happy when the woman I love is with me on the bed? I thought about it for the first time today, letting out my first yawn of the day and wrapping my arms around Lila's. “My woman.” I managed to mutter, tired from last night's exercise. “Did you sleep well at all? Or have you been awake since last night?” I sat up and touched her head, relaxing on the bed once more with a smile that complimented the thoughts running around in my head. Lila heaved a sigh. She gave a nod and mouthed. “I have been awake since last night, Rune.” She confessed and continued, a grimace on her face. “Just that a lot is going on with me and I don't know how to voice it,” even though she was complaining, she kissed my chest and I smiled, wondering also what the matter could be. “Since you slept even though I didn't sleep, how did your night go?” “I slept well, Lila,” recalling she said she was worried abo
RUNE POV When we were half done with our meals, the door to a room opened. I looked in that direction and caught sight of Lila, smiling in her seductive dress and leading her way to the table. The sight of her made me want to leave the meal, take her back with me to the room, and have good sex, but how could I? What will my parents, especially Mother, say to me? “Good morning, Mother,” upon her arrival at the table, she said and looked at my Father who was smiling. “Good morning, Father. Did you two have a good sleep?” Sitting on one of the chairs closest to me, she asked and looked at me, touching my face slightly and opening her tray of food. “I had a good night's rest,” Father said. “Same as Luna, my wife. How was your sleep?” She looked up. It looked like she noted the attitude Mother was giving, which made her look at me in the face, looking back at her meal and giving Father a nod when she looked up. “I had a good night's rest, Father. Thank you for asking.”The table
LILA POV “Come on in, Rune. I am inside.”From where I was seated, I called. “Welcome, baby.” I started to sob the very next moment while he caught up with me on the bed where I was seated. He hugged me to himself and asked. “What is the matter with you, Lila? Did something happen, and I don't know of it?” I shook my head, not believing he would ask me such a question. “Are you kidding me, Rune?” I sobbed more. “You're asking me this question like you don't know what has happened. Can't you see what your mother did to me at the dining table this morning? Is it because I have been silent about it all day?” The man heaved a sigh, obviously frustrated. “I am sorry about that, Lila. But can't you see she is making a point no matter how we try to pretend we can't see it?” He let go of me and looked at me in the face. “You should understand that it's one of those days and at the same time, have some patience with me and my mother especially. She will come around. She only needs so
RAVEN POV It has been one week of my services to The Logan's Institute and it was more than a good experience. Even if I lied to myself that life wasn't good, it was good and this time around, I enjoyed it more than anything else. I walked into the reception hall and caught sight of Jane who was speaking with the lady at the stand. “Good morning, ladies,” I greeted both of them, walking to the elevator space so I could go into my office the next moment. “Have a good day at work.” I said to some other staff I met on my way. It wasn't long and I caught up with the door of my office. Immediately and with effect, I walked into the office after opening it with the key I was given, arriving at the chair and I took a seat on it. When relaxed, my eyes scanned the office and I discovered that this wasn't how the office was the day before today. Did some person clean it up, and how? Shouldn't it be done in my presence if they didn't have a spare key? I wondered, sitting up on
RAVEN POV “Pitying me?” I chuckled. “Why, Mr. Johnson?” I just had to ask so that I could know what he was thinking. “What have you been thinking all these while, Mr. Johnson?” He smiled. “I don't know what I was thinking, Raven. I just didn't think you would have a car. You must drive so well, too,” he smiled and there was me who gave a nod, admitting that I could drive well. He walked to his car and waved at me. “Safe drive home, Mrs. Hamilton. I'll see you at work tomorrow.” I hopped in my car, also, after waving at him. The urge to lay on my bed was overwhelming, and I started my drive out of the compound after the manager was out, leading my way into the streets of the city. I stopped some time to sip water from a bottle I came with from the fridge in the office, changing my mind about what we'd be having for dinner that night. Instead of driving home, I made up my mind and drove in the direction of the restaurant closer to me. When I parked in its lot, the man
RUNE POV Since the last argument, Lila hasn't said a word to me. What was there to say, after all? I watched her walk past me and in the same way, I walked past her. What could I do about it? I thought when I woke up this morning. How about I met her and we talked things out? My fingers snapped and the door opened. “Good morning, my lord,” a guard greeted me with a bow. “What can I do for you this morning?” He walked closer and I sat up even straight, smiling and heaving a sigh at the same time. “Good morning to you too, wolf. I need you to ask my wife to be here as soon as she can,” I sounded, adding to it. “I want to speak with her about something and I need to do it as quickly as possible before I leave for the sparring area.” Having said this, I was on my feet and headed to the wardrobe so that I could select the outfit of the day. After which, I turned around to see the man who should have left the chambers since, still in the space. With shock on my face, I a
