LILA POV “Come on in, Rune. I am inside.”From where I was seated, I called. “Welcome, baby.” I started to sob the very next moment while he caught up with me on the bed where I was seated. He hugged me to himself and asked. “What is the matter with you, Lila? Did something happen, and I don't know of it?” I shook my head, not believing he would ask me such a question. “Are you kidding me, Rune?” I sobbed more. “You're asking me this question like you don't know what has happened. Can't you see what your mother did to me at the dining table this morning? Is it because I have been silent about it all day?” The man heaved a sigh, obviously frustrated. “I am sorry about that, Lila. But can't you see she is making a point no matter how we try to pretend we can't see it?” He let go of me and looked at me in the face. “You should understand that it's one of those days and at the same time, have some patience with me and my mother especially. She will come around. She only needs so
RAVEN POV It has been one week of my services to The Logan's Institute and it was more than a good experience. Even if I lied to myself that life wasn't good, it was good and this time around, I enjoyed it more than anything else. I walked into the reception hall and caught sight of Jane who was speaking with the lady at the stand. “Good morning, ladies,” I greeted both of them, walking to the elevator space so I could go into my office the next moment. “Have a good day at work.” I said to some other staff I met on my way. It wasn't long and I caught up with the door of my office. Immediately and with effect, I walked into the office after opening it with the key I was given, arriving at the chair and I took a seat on it. When relaxed, my eyes scanned the office and I discovered that this wasn't how the office was the day before today. Did some person clean it up, and how? Shouldn't it be done in my presence if they didn't have a spare key? I wondered, sitting up on
RAVEN POV “Pitying me?” I chuckled. “Why, Mr. Johnson?” I just had to ask so that I could know what he was thinking. “What have you been thinking all these while, Mr. Johnson?” He smiled. “I don't know what I was thinking, Raven. I just didn't think you would have a car. You must drive so well, too,” he smiled and there was me who gave a nod, admitting that I could drive well. He walked to his car and waved at me. “Safe drive home, Mrs. Hamilton. I'll see you at work tomorrow.” I hopped in my car, also, after waving at him. The urge to lay on my bed was overwhelming, and I started my drive out of the compound after the manager was out, leading my way into the streets of the city. I stopped some time to sip water from a bottle I came with from the fridge in the office, changing my mind about what we'd be having for dinner that night. Instead of driving home, I made up my mind and drove in the direction of the restaurant closer to me. When I parked in its lot, the man
RUNE POV Since the last argument, Lila hasn't said a word to me. What was there to say, after all? I watched her walk past me and in the same way, I walked past her. What could I do about it? I thought when I woke up this morning. How about I met her and we talked things out? My fingers snapped and the door opened. “Good morning, my lord,” a guard greeted me with a bow. “What can I do for you this morning?” He walked closer and I sat up even straight, smiling and heaving a sigh at the same time. “Good morning to you too, wolf. I need you to ask my wife to be here as soon as she can,” I sounded, adding to it. “I want to speak with her about something and I need to do it as quickly as possible before I leave for the sparring area.” Having said this, I was on my feet and headed to the wardrobe so that I could select the outfit of the day. After which, I turned around to see the man who should have left the chambers since, still in the space. With shock on my face, I a
LILA POV “The same way I should have known you didn't give a fuck about me from the onset, Rune.” I took a seat on my bed, shutting my eyes and fighting back the urge to sleep. “Good morning, Young Alpha. What can I do for you on the morning of another beautiful day?” He looked at me, with awe on his face. “I didn't expect to be asked that question. What did I do, Lila? Does the truth now hurt so much that I shouldn't say it? Were you expecting me to tell you a lie?!” I looked up. “You're shouting.” “My goodness,” he cried and got up from the sofa he was seated in. “I shouldn't have come here, baby. Trust me, this was a big mistake. You know I have things to do, so I should be there and on my way.” As he walked to the door, I got on my feet. “Do you love me?!” I shouted, watching him turn around. “Why can't I move to that room with you? Is there something you're trying to hide? Are you certain there is no other woman with you in that chamber?” He heaved another frustr
RAVEN POV Payday came, finally. Happiness was an understatement of how I felt, and I could not contain how it ran through me throughout the day. For as long as I can recall, it's only been two weeks since I started working and I have been paid. Wasn't it supposed to be after a month? “Payment is every two weeks,” Jane explained in the office that day. “This way, you don't have to take loans to feed yourself in case you run out of cash. Do you see why Logan's Institute is better than the others?” Indeed, it was better than others. I couldn't tell but so far, it was the best. I looked up and smiled, standing on my feet and checking the watch on my wrist. “I should get going. I am already done for today and need to catch up on some stuff. Aella would be on my neck if I didn't make it home on time.” Jane walked to the door and asked. “Doesn't the young lady understand that you're busy at work?” With a chuckle, she walked out of the space, leaving me to round off for
RUNE POV I looked at her, confusion written all over my face. “I—” I uttered, still confused. “It's nice to meet you again.” I added, not also knowing what to say. The woman next to her was Aella, and she looked good too. Their faces shone and body skins glowed, making me wonder what the issue was and how my former wife went about it. “RUNE!” Someone shouted in the presence of many others and I looked to my right to see an angry look on the face of the woman I came out with. “Are you going to take her back as your wife now, huh?” Lila asked and I shook my head, turning around again to see the two women order food from the counter where meals were sold. “I'm sorry, babe—” I heaved a sigh and smiled. “—do you want to order something before we make it back home?” I asked and she heaved a sigh also, noticing the changes in my mood but was I to be blamed? How was I supposed to see Raven looking stunning and expected to feel good? How did she secure a job, or is she marr
LILA POV Why did I think he was thinking about her? I paced the room, many thoughts running around in my head. “What is wrong with him?” I asked none other than myself, wishing he could at least pretend to be excited about the gift I gave him. Finally, I took a seat on the bed. What should I do? And why was Raven looking so stunning? How did she know we'd be there? What are her newest skincare routine and products? Why did she look so good? I fell on the bed, laying my head on one of the pillows. This can't be happening. For the first time, I wished I hadn't gone out with Rune that night - this way, he wouldn't have seen her. I should have known. What does she even do for a living now? I got up again and walked around the room, heaving a sigh from time to time and finally, settling on the couch not so far from the bed. Now I thought about Aella too, why she looked far better than I did, not even respecting me as the next Luna of the pack. Why didn't she acknowledge me w
RAVEN POV “Isn't it late at night to be here?” Opening the door, there was Aella in my apartment. “Come on in. I'm sure you're cold.” I mouthed as I opened the door even wider, watching her walk into the space with a smile that was evergreen on her face. “Good evening, my lady.” I shut the door. Turned around and caught up with the couch she was seated on. “Not so fast. Is everything okay over there at the pack? Why are you here? You keep scaring me so much and I don't think I like it.” “My lady,” she looked at me. “There is nothing wrong if you must know. I just came to spend some time with you. I haven't done that since the operation for all that I can recall. How are you doing?” Relieved, I heaved a sigh. And just then, her eyes reached my stomach. “My goodness. It's bigger than I thought it'd be!” Crying, she adjusted on the chair, dropping her purse on the floor. “You look good on it too. You are still as beautiful as always if you know what I mean.” “I don't feel bet
RUNE POVThe man by the gate hailed while I led my way into the compound - headed for the lot. After I parked, I hopped down and led my way straight to the living room, falling on the chair and heaving another tired sigh. It was a good thing to finally be home. Away from the wolves and one particular man who annoyed the hell out of me. What does he even want? Heaving a sigh, I snapped my fingers and a maid showed up. “My lord.” I looked at her face, realizing it was none other maid than Aella who smiled at me. “What can I offer you? Do you need water?” Bowing again, she looked at me while I sat up, thinking about words to say to the woman. What could she offer me? Like she didn't know what I wanted to be offered? But how could I spell it in block letters that I wanted my wife back in my life? “I want water,” after a while of thinking, I let out and offered back the smile she was offering. “Not so cold. Not so hot. You know what I mean, don't you?” “Yes, my lord.”I was left alone
RUNE POV I walked past the gate leading into the camp when my gaze caught someone's. It's been over two weeks of training the wolves and I had yet to say a word to a man I have tagged an enemy. What would he have me say to him? “Good morning, Mr. Rune.” It was a student who called. She had a smile on her face and my lips widened, the grimace leaving my countenance. “Good morning, dearest wolf. How are you doing today?” I walked and she was by my side, offering to take my bag but there was me who shook my head. “I can handle it, you have nothing at all to worry about.” In moments, she was out of my side and there was me who led my way past the space with many wolves in it. They offered more greetings while I just walked away, heading to the general office for trainers like myself who had arrived. “Good morning,” I greeted the man from two weeks ago. “I have arrived.” Sarcastically, I mouthed and kept walking. “Where are the others?” Stopping in my tracks, I turned to look at the
LILA POV I was seated on the veranda, sipping juice from a glass when a maid walked out of the house. She had an apron on and this could only mean that she was supposed to be on duty. So why was she outside? Looking to my left, I figured out that it was Aella. How long would she keep doing this? As a matter of fact, it wasn't the first time I would see her leave the house with her phone in hand. The unfortunate thing was me not being close to the spot when it was happening. Now, I wanted to know what was behind it. Jumping on my feet, I acted like I didn't care. Of course, I did. Deep down inside of me but what could I do? I needed to know what she was up to before making plans to send her away from the pack. It was something I wanted to do so badly. According to my thoughts, this woman led the man I love to see a woman he should never set his eyes on. What could she not do? I caught up with a block and tried to listen to what she said to whoever it was, over the phone. “My la
RAVEN POV Lunchtime. Taking out the food from the bag I came with, I knew I needed to take a break. There was more than a lot going through my head at this point, but what could I do? I simply relaxed my back on the chair and opened the plate of food. And it was at this moment that I noticed something strange happening to the meal. Not the meal, but the office in total. What was I thinking? A piece of paper fell off the plate packaging, catching my attention. What could I do or say? I looked at the floor, wanting to be certain that I wasn't imagining things. There was a piece of paper. Confirming this, I looked around as though it wasn't my office anymore. And now I bent low so that my hand could reach it, snatching it from the ground and meeting the gaze of whatever was in the piece. “I know I haven't done well for myself or even you, Raven. But I look forward to the day we get to spend time with each other again. And I promise I'll treat you right, and not the wrong way I
RAVEN POV With time, I recovered fully. My stomach on the other hand got bigger by the day, and I didn't think for a moment that it would stop because, from the look of things, there was more to come. Another Monday morning arrived. This was the point when I got out of bed so that I could take my bath and be ready for work. There was not much difference in my body and somehow, I seemed to like this more than the other. Despite the size.It was still Rune's fault, wasn't it? Why can't I leave him out of my thoughts? Anger was the right word for how I felt when I snatched the towel from the bed and walked into the bathroom for my bath. Soon enough, I was standing in front of a mirror - wondering what outfit exactly was good to use for the purpose of my work on this day. A smile came alive on my face when I figured it out. I didn't stop smiling for one moment, but caught up with the wardrobe, opened it, and caught sight of the outfit I needed to look for. How ready was I to be th
RUNE POV So why did Mother and Father give me that look? I wasn't done with my food but at this point, I was more than ready to abandon it and walk back to my room. With a smile I didn't know how it looked, plastered on my face, I looked at my parents once more. “Is there any problem?” They looked at each other before looking at me again. “Why do you ask, son? Did we say there was a problem?” He looked at his wife and back at me. “We were only looking at you. Does that make a problem exist?” A sigh. A scoff. What did these people want from me? This was the reason why I couldn't tell them about my love for Raven. How could I, when they warned me so much from the onset? “Alright,” I chewed on a chunk of meat and gave a nod. “I hear you, Mother and Father.” Mother cleared her throat. “We just hope you're not planning to bring another woman into this pack, Rune,” she said with a smile I considered fake. “I'm sure you know we've had enough of your saga with the other gender. I mig
LILA POV There was no way I'd let him do something like that to not just himself, but me also. How could he? It was another morning after the last morning since we saw each other. And Rune was yet to say a word to me. Not because he didn't have words to say, but because we didn't get to set eyes on each other. “Good morning, my lady.” The guards and maids who were not far from the door of my room, greeted me as soon as I walked in. “Shall I do something for you this morning, my lady?” One of them asked while there was me who shook my head. What could she possibly do? I didn't need the regular help as it stands. What I needed was help to get back the man I love for myself. And how could they help me with that too? I looked ahead of me after shaking my head a second time, catching up with the dining table where the Alpha was seated. So where was Luna Elizabeth? “Good morning, Father.” The old man looked up from the screen of his phone. At the sight of me, he smiled and I gave a
LILA POV My car was parked in the lot of The Illeth Pack in the morning. I reached for the entrance and ignored the greetings of the men by the door. “Is the young Alpha in? It's him I've come to see. Don't waste my time.” The men looked at themselves and one looked at me this time. “My young Alpha is in, my lady. But you can't disturb his sleep at this time of the morning. He came back very late last night and needs all the rest he can get before leaving again this morning.” What were they saying? Why should I care if the young Alpha was sleeping or not? I had come to stay in the pack just as Mother advised and maybe talk to him about his change. Didn't I wake up early this morning to prepare to be here? I looked at the men, pushed one aside, and walked to the door of my room. When I walked into the space, it was cleaned. In confusion, I turned around and looked at the door. Does it mean they've been expecting me long before now? With a smile on my face, I became more calm and
