KALILA’S POV

I struggled to sleep that night, first it was my thoughts jeering at me and wondering how I could be so careless at such a crucial time. It was a crucial time because I needed to be on Ares's good side, at least for now. I was still burning with curiosity, wondering what it was Melissa so urgently wanted to tell me. I had to convince Ares to let her come here if he wouldn’t let me go over there, it was a reasonable suggestion as I wouldn’t get to meet Jahdiel again just yet.

Another thing that prevented me from sleeping peacefully were the noises coming from downstairs, Wendy’s gay and high-pitched laughter rang through the entire house. It was as if someone was dragging my ears on broken glass, it was so irritating because I hated her so much. I checked the time, it was past midnight.

“Who laughs so loudly at this time?” I groaned aloud and sat up from the bed.
