Possible danger

ARES'S POV

It was almost midnight when I eased the limo into the dimly lit garage of my mansion and turned off the engine. Exhausted, I slumped into the driver's seat, barely able to keep my eyes open. I had sent Dolph home two hours earlier, knowing I'd be working late at the office. He had protested, always eager to serve me, but I insisted on driving myself home.

As I sat in the garage, I pondered the strange behaviour of my staff. They would often protest and opt to work even when I ordered them to take a break. But as soon as I insisted, they would leave with relieved smiles. I couldn't understand why.

The reason I had dismissed Dolph was that I didn't want to involve him in the mystery of the strange scent that had been following me. There was something dangerous and unknown lurking around, and I didn't want to put anyone in harm's way.

Stepping out of the car, my nose twitched as the scent grew more assertive. It was almost as if there was a cloud of it hanging over my mansion.
